Gong - Live. Floating Anarchy 1977 (cd ripped. format wma). 1977

        A psychedelic space trip!

Gong came together in the late '60's by the Australian guitarist David Allen. The band created a mythology of the peaceful Planet Gong populated by Radio Gnomes, Pothead Pixies, and Octave Doctors.

Rolling Stone magazine described Gong's music as combining "psychedelic English whimsy, German kosmische space jams and Gallic libertine fusion".

"A psychedelic album with a black and white cover. It is crudely hand drawn as well. It exhibits more punk flavour than flower power.
But then again, that is what Planet Gong was kind of about. They were not really the hip psychedelic flower-power band. They were very much free-form craziness.
The music here shows it.

It flows freely and weirdly. Crescendos of power chords and mysterious noodling all combine to make I a serious tour de force. The musical mayhem is accompanied by fairly strong, uncompromising anarchistic rhetoric, which at times sounds like a bit of a put on . . . but then you realise that they are quite genuine in their beliefs."

Died Pretty - Free Dirt (LP, vinyl rip). 1986.

Dusty psychedelia from the heart of the Australian desert!
Died Pretty was formed in 1983 in Sydney and they were a dirty diamond inside the Australian rock scene. Influenced by The Stooges, Velvet Underground and punk rock they let their imagination free so they created a unique sound that can sink your mind in a hazy psychedelic nightmare!

This first LP was released in 1986 and it remains a milestone for the alternative scene.
This is no "indie rock" - this is Stooges tripping with LSD!

The band released eight albums from 1986 till 2000.

One of my most favorite records ever.

Ripped from the original vinyl to mp3 320.

Red Temple Spirits - "If tomorrow i were leaving for Lhasa i wouldn't stay a minute more..." (LP, vinyl rip). 1989.

Red Temple Spirits was a post punk band from Los Angeles formed in 1987. They created  hallucinating music influenced by 60's psychedelia and 80's dark wave

You can easily trace Roky Erickson and Pink Floyd together with Cure and Savage Republic in their music but the personality of the band is strong enough to create their own wonderful style. This record ends with a breathtaking version of "Set the controls for the heart of the sun", the psych mastepiece of Pink Floyd.

Their genius mix of psychedelia and gothic rock was also melded with Native American (in their first record) and Tibetan mysticism (in this one).

They had only two LPs ("Dancing to restore an eclipsed moon" in 1988 and "If tomorrow i were leaving for Lhasa i wouldn't stay a minute more..." in 1989), and one single ("New Land/ Exodus from Lhasa" in 1989) but these were enough to keep the legend of the band alive through the decades.

Get ready for a real trip!

The Vietnam Veterans - Catfish Eyes And Tales (LP, vinyl rip). 1987.

Take this unforgettable trip to the psychedelic world of The Vietnam Veterans! The french band revived the psychedelia of the '60's under the leadership of the genious Mark Enbatta

They released six albums during the '80's and this is their last studio album. Mark Enbatta himself announces the end of the band in the inner cover.

Here we have a great band playing long psychedelic anthems with the keyboards having the main role as they create stunning hypnotic melodies.

The record ends with an unbelievable version of the legendary psychedelic anthem "The days of pearly spencer".

Some years ago The Vietnam Veterans reunited and they released an excellent album.

28th Day - S/T (LP, vinyl rip). 1985.

Excellent San Fransisco neo-psychedelic classic from Barbara Manning's first band. Most of the songs are written by Cole Marquis, another popular figure of West Coast's  indie rock scene.

It's the post-Paisley Underground era and 28th Day gives us one true psychedelic diamond with songs that combine dizzy guitars, melodic vocals and a powerfull rythm base.
Some of the songs here are all time classics. Just listen  to "This Train", "I'm only asking" or "Pages turn" and get lost in the hallucinogenic psychedelic world of 28th Day!

"This is one of those albums that did absolutely nothing upon its release but has developed a certain cult cachet over the years...
songs like the ruminative "Pages Turn" and the swirling, neurotic "25 Pills" suggest that Chico, CA, was the one city in the Northern Hemisphere that was attuned to the Krautrock-inspired art pop of New Zealand's Flying Nun label.
The album's high point is the tense, strangled "Burnsite," a Manning song that climaxes in one of the most anguished screams this side of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures". 28th Day broke up shortly after the release of this album." (from allmusic)

This is one of the records i grown up with and it was a great company for many many strange hours...

Felt - The Splendour of Fear (LP, vinyl rip). 1984

Felt was the project of Britain's enigmatic Lawrence Hayward, a singer/songwriter who transformed his long-standing obsession with the music of Tom Verlaine and Television into an impressive catalog of minimalist pop gems and, ultimately, cult stardom.
This is their second album, released in 1984. Most of the songs are instrumentals with the guitar creating magical psychedelic melodies. "The stagnant pool" is one of Felt's masterpieces - an 8 minutes long psychedelic anthem.

The Prunes - Nada (LP, vinyl rip). 1989.

The Prunes were the Virgin Prunes without the singer and songwriter Gavin Friday, who left the band in 1986. The Prunes (Mary - guitar, voice, Strongman - bass, and Dave-id - vocals) released three albums from 1988 to 1990 and this is the second.
Gavin Friday's favourite cabaret style is now gone and replaced by a more "rock" feeling. The band doesn't hesitate to experiment with different styles making the record a very interesting acoustic experience. Their best moments are the two straight psychedelic songs ("Dissolve to..." and "Flower") - the band creates a really dizzy psychedelic atmosphere.
There are also experimental songs with a heavy dark atmosphere ("Loaded in a crazy dream of hell" and "Voice Over") plus some songs moving between darkwave (the creepy "Built a temple of your soul" is a fantastic dark elegy) and rock.
It's not a masterpiece but it's an excellent record by some of the most adventurous musicians of their generation.

Gew Gaw Stereophonic Dodman - A Gew Gaw Compilation (issue #2)

Gew Gaw is a high quality greek psychedelic fanzine. Some issues came out with a cd compilation icluding great bands and great songs, most of them unreleased! Anyway you can see details about the fanzine here. This is the second compilation that came out along with issue #8.
There is a lot of great stuff here! This isn't '60's pop psychedelia. This is heavy tripping stuff full of echoes of garage, darkwave, psychedelia, space rock and Kraut...
I think this is the first time that this compilation is uploaded for everyone to enjoy!

The cover is designed by Iliana Noea. Her amazing work is almost everywhere in greek independent scene, in records (Purple Overdose's third and fourth record), fanzines, posters, everywhere! I wish somebody who know her, write some things about this amazing artist. You can find nothing about her in greek independent music blogs and i think it's a shame!
