Cpinalonga - Penance / Rachel (7" single, 1989 recordings, vinyl rip). 2012

   Cpinalonga is a dark ambient/electro duet from Greece. They released two LPs back in the '90's, "Bid Time Return" (1990, Poeta Negra records) and "The 13th relation" (1994).

   "Their name has been borrowed by an island east of Crete. This little island has a long story of wars, conquests, Venetian castles that now seems totally haunted. Changed conquerors and names too, as in the ancient times it was called Kalidon, the Venetians named it Spinalonga (means "long thorn" in Latin). 

   The most recent shocking fact about Spinalonga is that it has been one of the last leper colonies in Europe in the years 1903-1957.     This 7" vinyl single was released this year and it contains two previously unreleased songs. "Rachel" is recorded live. Both songs will impress anyone who loves dark electro!

Iambia - Prometheus. 2002

  Iambia were formed back in the beginning of 2000 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Their music can be described as a mixture of modern E.B.M. and powerful electro.

 This is their debut CD "Prometheus", released in January 2002 by Capp records containing 11 tracks.

 Iambia have performed live several times supporting bands such as COVENANT, HOCICO, VNV NATION, ASLAN FACTION, GRENDEL, LAIBACH, PROJECT-X, NEBULA-H etc.

 In the meanwhile the band signs a new record deal with the swedish label PROGRESS PRODUCTIONS. 

The current line up is: Herr Khaos: Keyboards, production, vocals Loup3r: live keyboards.

In Trance 95 - Desire to Desire/ Brazilia (single). 1988

  You can find this gem in some other blogs also, but i couldnt resist the joy to introduce In Trance 95 to those of you out there who may not know them!

  In Trance 95 are a greek electro band, active from 1988 till 1996 as a duo (Alex Mahairas and Nick Veliotis) and again from 2009 till today. New York record company Minimal Wave called them to release their early tapes and this was the beginning for a new career for the band.

  This is their first single from December 1988. Their first album "Code of Obsession" released at 1990. They had two more EPs "Ocean" and "Overcast" at 1995 and then they disbanded till 2009.

  This is high quality electro music with all the originality of '80's.

  Two songs icluded here, "Desire to Desire" and "Brazilia".

Anne Clark - R.S.V.P. (Live at Utrecht, Holland). 1987

   More beautiful dark electro music from Anne Clark! This is a live cd published in 1988 from a 1987 concert at The Music Centrum - Utrecht, Holland. Some of her best songs icluded here played live, with much enthusiasm and good taste. 

   The composers - besides Anne Clark - are three big names of the '80's electronic music. John Foxx from the Ultravox, Vini Reilly from Durutti Column and David Harrow, Known from Anne Clark's best hits (Sleeper in Metropolis, Our Darkness, Wallies) and from his collaboration with Jah Wobble and Atari Teenage Riot.

    In 1982, Anne Clark published her first album, The Sitting Room, with songs written by herself. On the following albums, Changing Places (1983), Joined up Writing (1984) and Hopeless Cases (1987), Clark benefited from an acquaintance from the Warehouse: keyboardist David Harrow contributed as the co-author. The songs created by this team, such as “Sleeper in Metropolis,” “Our Darkness,” and “Wallies,” have since been considered milestones of the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1985, Clark released the album Pressure Points. It was created in collaboration with John Foxx, who wrote the music and plays on the first five tracks.

Anne Clark - Wordprocessing. The remix project (1997)

Anne Clark (born 14 May 1960 in London), is an excellent poet and songwriter. Her first album, The Sitting Room, was released in 1982, and she has released over a dozen albums since then.

Her experimental music occupies a region bounded roughly by electronic, dance (techno applies on occasion) and possibly avant garde genres, with varying hard as well as romantic and orchestral styles.

Clark is mainly a spoken word artist. Many of her lyrics deal critically with the imperfections of humanity, everyday life, and politics. Especially in her early works she has created a gloomy, melancholy kind of atmosphere. 

This wonderfull album includes some of her best songs remixed by famous names of electronic music like Sven Vaeth, Juno Reactor, Total Eclipse etc. The most tender moments mix with hard electronic beats creating magical soundscapes.

This is a piece of pure art and one the most beautifull albums i've ever heard!

Electronic Unlimited - A MUTE Compilation (1995)

  This fantastic compilation came along with greek music magazine Pop+Rock, back in 1995 and is hard to find today. Mute records is (was) one of the most succesfull independent record companies, although not "independent" anymore. EMI bought Mute.     You better check out their official website because a lot of great artists still play for Mute. 

Daniel Miller founded the company back at 1978 with artists like Fad Gadget and D.A.F. Later came Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Inspiral Carpets, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Moby and the rest is history...

Back at the '70's and 80's the independent record companies were really independent. It means that almost every one had its own distinctive musical style and aesthetic and the whole "business" structure was completely different than the big labels. More human, more friendly to the artists and the buyers. The idea was "art above money"!

Who can forget Factory, Rough Trade, Creation, Flicknife, Mo 'Wax, Postcard and the list goes on...

This is a exquisite compilation including some of the best artists of that time.

ATHAMAY - The Pleasure of Sin

Athamay is an english dark electro band formed in 1995. Their only release untill now (Nightbreed Recordings, 1996) is this fantastic work which became an electro classic and is hard to find today. After this cd they continued as Torture Tekk.

Dark Ages - A Cyberdelia records compilation (2005).

  This is a rare compilation from 2005 with some of the best greek "darkwave" bands, published with the greek magazine "Rock and Roll" in April 2005. 
   Cyberdelia was a greek independent record company focused in the dark side of the greek rock scene. The label is a creation of Mike Pougounas, leader of the gothic band Flowers of Romance and later Nexus and New Zero God.
  Pougounas created Cyberdelia Records on March 9, 2000, and on May 19, Cyberdelia released Nexus's debut album, entitled 6.

    Cyberdelia Records released albums for popular European bands such as Wayne Hussey’s The Mission. In 2005, both Cyberdelia and Nexus disbanded, and a year later Mike Pougounas formed the post-punk New Zero Go.

The music here moves betwwen ethereal and industrial, gothic rock and experimental.
