I have now completely finished farsight ... I dry brushed the base and washed the scroll but went futher and tidied up the white as it wasn't very smooth or clean (which is very important when painting white I have found out)
I also felt I went over board with the object source lighting and battle damage chips. I tuned both of these things down a few notches for a more subtle effect in both cases. It doesnt show much in the pictures but it is a big improvement on the 90 percent finished model I feel. Here are some more pictures.
I plan to buy some more tau soon, a hammerhead, a skyray and some crisis suits. Then I can finally build a proper far sight list and do a bat rep for all of you good people. Also we are going to do a give away soon I wont say what or why, but hey everyone loves a good free stuff thing dont you? I never win give aways but at least I can give stuff away to our followers and live vicariously through you lol !

Pathfinder Shas'ui (paintjob)
Hi there hope you all have checked out the battle report the post before this one ;) anyways this is just a quick one to show you the first painted guy in my unit of 6 pathfinders.
They are built from fire warriors with no conversion work that is pretty lazy I'll admit but I had run out of green stuff and couldnt put off painting one as i had the painting urge at the time. I think the pathfinders are going to look the same as the fire warriors but for the sergant/ shas'ui I painted the helmet red and white as opposed to white so he stood out.
I did a minor conversion on his left arm and hand so that he is putting his hand up as if to say "hold" to the other scouts behind him the other pathfinders are all crouching down to make this look more so as i imagine it you can see this better if you watch the bat rep. Happy blogging/wargaming !

Cities of death Tau (red and white paint scheme)
So I'm sure you have all seen the Cities of Death cover and thought ..."Damn those tau are getting owned ...that's pretty realistic ..lol"
Well I didn't ! I thought that would make one sexy paint scheme. I then proceeded to paint my tau the standard kinda darkish yellow and brown colours of the homeworld sept (Jump right back to near the start of fd blog) because I was scared to paint white as I was a very bad painter.
I came across an 'armies on parade' article in a white dwarf recently where a member of the citadel design team had painted in his army in this scheme just like I had wanted to do and went into detail about how he acheived it. So having started recollecting tau I copied the process and here are the results.
Here above you can see the finnished guy at the front ... the guys behind him show the process. Starting with the stealth suit at the back we have ... first prime the model in imperial primer (the guy used skull white spray but i ran out) then cover in a thin layer of skull white paint, followed by a watered down all over wash of badab black and finally pick out the panels with several layers of skull white, cloth in mephiston red and boots in calthan brown (forgot what the new name is) adding battle damage with boltgun metal to show where the paint has come off.
HE'S BEHIND YOU ... wait ..abit to ya left and yeh yeh up a bit ... wait your dead :S
