Famoustache: The Robert Goulet

Old Bobby G and me, we go way back you see. I'll explain that momentarily. But in the meantime...

"And the mustaches glare!"

...let's revisit the legend of Robert Goulet's mustache. Now remember, or learn here for the first time, Goulet didn't not always sport a 'stache. See him 'stacheless and read more after the jump...

"Is that an apple in your pocket? Or are you just wait I screwed that up."

Methinks we have an accord that Sir Robert Goulet's charm only quadruples when the upper lip is haired.

"Dear Queen, thank you for allowing me into your 'private quarters' last Tuesday..."

Yes, it's true. Robert Goulet was the first - and only since - Canadian to become knighted by the Queen of England herself. In response to the public response she delightfully responded:

"To hell with Parliament. I spoke extensively, you might say, with Robert about knighthood in my study. It took three hours to arrive at my conclusion and no one will convince me different."

"I can't say it was good. But I can't say it was bad, either."

The man is a testament to the victory of facial hair. He added the notion to the mustachicon that, even with a great-looking face, a mustache will improve upon greatness.

"These are the voyages of the Starship Gouletstache."

I first learned of Robert Goulet as a child from Naked Gun 2 1/2, but many of you youngsters might only know this imposterstache:

"That's why I come up here, nature! Goulet."

True, Will Ferrell's Goulet was a satirical masterpiece. Which brings me to how Bob and I go back. Will Ferrell inspired me to dress up like Goulet for a Halloween party on October 29th, 2007.

A little spirit gum and a little rum go a long way. Never mind the Albanian to my left.

And on October 30th, 2007 - the next day - Robert Goulet died. This part I am not making up. I've always been afraid of this power of mine, unknowingly killing one of the greatest men to have ever graced this earth.

Perhaps I will use this power to my advantage this Halloween. Dressing up as someone I do not admire. I'm looking at you, Barr.
