Dancing Girls
Alice and Myra started a tap/ballet class last week (we found one they could do together) and really love it. Here they are trying out their new leotards.
This was their first class. Alice started getting nervous on the way there, despite the fact that Myra and her friend Natalie would be in the class with her, so when we walked in, I was waiting for her to start crying and wanting me to stay with her. Exactly the opposite. She got her shoes on and noticed the teacher was getting everyone into a circle and asked me if that was where she needed to go and then went off to join the class before Myra was even ready!
The parents get to come in the last five minutes to watch a demonstration of what the children learned that day, so this is a picture of them demonstrating a ballet position. I think Alice looks like a natural!

Spring Break in Florida
Our drive to Florida was amazingly calm and uneventful. Quincy cried for a total of five minutes, not even exaggerating.
The girls had fun playing with a marble run made by Great-Grandpa Fearing when we arrived Saturday evening.
Quincy was blessed the next day.
Memaw made him a handsome little blessing suit the he christened later that day with a leaky diaper.
Samantha made him a cute little Q bear for his blessing day.

Quincy got a little bored so he decided to watch some boob tube. Here he is flipping through channels.
The girls looking at a gator at Lake Alice.
The bat house across the street from Lake Alice, where we watched hundreds of bats fly out at dusk.
The Beach at Cedar Key
Quincy and Pepaw spent the afternoon under the shelter while the girls went swimming and chased seagulls.
Another day we went strawberry picking. Alice picked the most strawberries--almost five pounds.
Memaw, Pepaw, Bruce, Alice and Myra went to Disney World for the day. When Memaw told them, she described it as a wonderful present that was so big we had to take them to it. Alice understood that going to Disney World was the exciting present, but Myra did not. At the end of the day, Myra asked, "So, where's the big present?"
The girls got to pick out which Mickey ears they wanted. Princess ones, of course.
Bruce said the girls were very well behaved and patient. It helped that it wasn't a very busy day--most rides were only a 10 minute wait!
Splash Mountain--afterwords, Alice decided she never wanted to go on the ride again. The next day, I asked her if she'd go on it again for a dollar. She said, yes. What about a quarter? Yes. How about five cents? Hesitation. No, she definitely wanted at least a quarter!
Breaking for a snack.
Memaw and Alice on Dumbo.
Jared cooking blackened fish for the fish fry in honor of Grandma Arlene's birthday.
Pepaw frying fish, oysters, shrimp, and scallops.
Yummy!
Happy Birthday Grandma Arlene!
After dinner, we enjoyed a fireworks display courtesy of Pepaw.
We went to visit Pepaw at his office so I could get an adjustment and also a massage from the massage therapist (thanks, Pepaw!). Afterwards, Alice asked if she went to the office with me so she would know what it was like to go to a 'firecracker.' She has also called chiropractors 'fire tractors' and once told us that chiropractor was actually Spanish for doctor.
On the way home we stopped off in Savannah and spent the night with Samantha and John. The girls wanted to sleep with them so they each graciously slept with one of the girls on an air mattress and let us take their bed! We slept great--Samantha and John looked a little bleary eyed in the morning. I don't think they realized how much little girls move in bed. In fact, Myra was so crazy that John moved himself the couch.
Samantha cooked us a wonderful breakfast the next morning and then had to go to work while John spent a few more hours with us walking around Savannah...
...and stopping for another snack break, of course.
Overall, a wonderful trip!
