You name it and Eyelet Outlet has a brad for that!  Our little dress form brad, thread and scissors brads bring this one all together.

Thanks for stopping in today and if you'll be near the Pleasanton, California area this weekend, stop by the Scrapbook Expo Vendor area and see us and our products in person!

Mom's Are Like Buttons

Quite often, as I browse through images in the Cricut image library, I will spot a design that will inspire me to reach for my Eyelet Outlet brad box and this Mother's Day card is a perfect example.

With a little substituted the buttons, thread, and heart on the original image with actual buttons and hearts and thread brads from Eyelet Outlet.

I had fun with actual thread on in this card, too!  I tucked a piece of white thread through the hole that I had punched to anchor my brad.  I secured the thread on the reverse with a piece of tape. I cut the needle with my Cricut out of foil vinyl.  I lifted it from the transfer sheet with tweezers and slipped the other end of the thread through the eye of the needle and then attached it to my card.

I love adding Eyelet Outlet brads to my projects because they offer so much interest and dimension!

Happy crafting, Eyelet Outlet fans!

Miss You SEW Much!

If social distancing has kept you away from someone you love, here's a sweet way to let them know how much you miss them.

I created this shaker card using images from the Cricut image library along with the slicing and hide contour tools in Cricut Design Space.

I filled my jar with random buttons from my stash as well as colorful Eyelet Outlet sequins.  I love the way the content of the jar is spilling and bouncing out!  I added a couple of spools of Eyelet Outlet thread brads and the popular scissors brad.  The space beneath the sentiment was calling out for a heart, don't you think?  I love the Eyelet Outlet enamel hearts available in all kinds of wonderful colors and sizes!

I hope you're inspired to make a card for someone you're missing SEW much, too!  Have a wonderful day!

Take What You Need

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

I love being able to combine various Eyelet Outlet brads to tell a story.  That's what I tried to do with here:

I think this is a great idea for a card.  When I'm having a bad day, I would like nothing more than to come across a bulletin board offering up all sorts of emotional support along with the ads and notices.  I've made several versions of this card, but I really like the dimension created by adding the Car, Binder Clip, Eye Glasses, Thread and Scissor Brads with a Silver Glitter Enamel Dot and a Winter Mix Brad.  Here's a closer look:

Take a look at your collection to see what other brads you could incorporate into a card like this.

Inside, a simple but sincere sentiment.

If you like this idea, there's a template on the Freebies page.  There are many goodies there if you haven't checked recently.

SEW Thankful!

A couple of years ago my old sewing machine stitched it's last stitch.  When I say, "old," I DO mean old!  It had been passed down to my mom from my her mom, then to me and I estimate that it was at least 80 years old.  I didn't sew a lot, but I knew that machine and could thread it with my eyes closed.  My husband bought me a new machine for Christmas a few years ago and I have been so intimidated by it! Recently I decided I was going to conquer this by getting it out and practicing!  So far, so good! I even used it to add some dimension to the card I'm bringing you today!

I just loved this sewing machine image from Cricut's Makers Gonna Make image set!  It's so fun and cheerful with the flowers on it and when I added Eyelet Outlet Enamel Dots in shades of pink and purple to it, it really made me smile!  I decided to snip off the spool of thread that is on the image and replace it with an Eyelet Outlet thread brad and added a black spool to the card as well.  The thread brads package comes with black, white, pink, blue and yellow spools.

The cute little scissor brads are a perfect compliment to the thread brads and so I attached a small piece of loose thread under the scissors.  I've really been reaching for this checked skinny washi tape lately and thought a strip of it looked great next to my stitching.  Eyelet Outlet has lots of brand new washi tapes in the store, so I hope you'll follow this link and go have a look!

A couple of enamel hearts added the perfect touch next to my groovy sewing machine!  Check out all the great enamel shapes at Eyelet Outlet!

Thanks for stopping by today and keep on crafting!

When Life Gives You Scrap...

I really love Eyelet Outlet sewing themed brads and when I saw this sentiment recently, I knew I had to create a card with it using Eyelet Outlet products and the quilt image from the Cricut "Country Life" cartridge.

The little pair of scissors and spool of thread were the perfect addition to my sentiment!  The thread has 12 spools in a mix of rose, black, white turquoise, and yellow thread in each package.  The strip of Eyelet Outlet Pearl Bling was the perfect compliment to my colorful quilt-look card stock.

Carrying on with my sewing theme today, I have a second card for you.  Even in the best of relationships, it's sometimes necessary to apologize and here's a sweet way to do with this little card.

This cross stitch heart comes from the Cricut "Valentine's Day" cartridge.  I added some white thread to it that appears to have come from my Eyelet Outlet Thread Brad and my little Scissor Brad has snipped it off.

I'm glad you came by today!  Be sure and follow us on Facebook and Pinterest, too!

Sew Far, Sew Good

I (Laurencome from a family of quilters. And I think, secretly, my mother was a tiny bit disappointed when I grew up and showed no interest at all in sewing. Until, that is, I discovered papercrafting; because whereas I still have no interest in sewing fabric, I love to sew on paper... especially cards! And what could possibly enhance a sewn card more than Eyelet Outlet Thread BradsScissor Brads, and Tape Measure Washi?

I started by formatting a sentiment (using free fonts called Vogue and Mom's Typewriter) in just the right size to fit within my favorite heart punch. I traced around the heart shape very lightly in pencil to give myself a guide, then machine-stitched around it using the highest number of stitches per inch possible on my machine. I used white, pink and blue thread because they were the closest color matches to the spools in the Thread Brad set, which also contains a pretty bright green and black, as well. When my stitching was complete, I set my thread spools at one end, and a Scissor Brad at the other, then added my heart shaped sentiment inside the stitched frame.

I was happy with how my first card came out, but the other sewing themed item I wanted to use was our Tape Measure Washi, which just didn't work for that design. So for my second card, I traced the heart again, but simplified my swirly thread line a bit, and stuck with just one black Thread Brad. This time I punched a heart from plain white cardstock, then covered it with strips of tape, without bothering to line them up at all... I wanted it to look like a measuring tape that's just been thrown, mid-use, into the bottom of one's sewing basket. I added a Scissor Brad next to the spool of thread, and finished off with a cute sewing machine sticker from my stash.

There are lots of other puns that would work well with these brads, such as, "Miss You SEW Much", "Hope Your Birthday is SEW Happy" or "You Are SEW Awesome" so I'm pretty sure you'll see me revisiting this idea again in future!

Hope you've enjoyed this SEW much that you'll stop back again tomorrow to see what new ideas my design team sisters have to inspire you! ♥

Sew Happy!

Hello crafty friends!  Ready for the weekend?  I am tremendously looking forward to it!

Most of the crafters I know have their go-to craft but are enthusiastic about other crafts too. I love card-making but lately my heart has been drawn to the first craft I really remember learning...sewing. I am so grateful that my mom and my home-ec teacher, Mrs. Farley, taught me to sew!   It's a very useful skill set to have in the tool box!  Since I have been spending time lately planning some garments for historical reenacting, these sewing stamp sets and the Eyelet Outlet embellishments that coordinate with them were calling out to me.  ;)  I even used a set of paper pinking shears that I haven't used in aeons!

I love that so many of our EO products come in multiple colors so you can perfectly coordinate with your designer paper and other project elements.  These spools and paper flowers were an exact match for the spools and flowers in this busy, fun sewing print.

Here are the EO products used for today's project:

I'll be at my sewing machine this weekend sewing up some garments for the Victorian era! I hope to squeeze in some stamping time, too, especially since here in the U. S. we have a long weekend in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Enjoy!

Vintage Sewing

A few weeks ago, as a friend and I wandered through a vintage thrift store, I found a Sewing Pattern Book from the 70s.  Oh the hours I spent thumbing through pages just like these trying to find things for my Mom and my Grandma to make for me.

I used some one of the vintage illustrations together with Eyelet Outlet Thread Brads & Sewing Tape Washi.  I remember going through all of the rolls of thread trying to find the perfect match for my fabric.

I also incorporated a vintage sewing machine and a clear sticker sentiment.

If you or someone you love likes sewing, thread brads are the perfect embellishment.

In Stitches!

Hello friends!  TGIF!  I am SO ready for the weekend!  I am here today with a super simple card that was inspired by a scrap of white "dotted Swiss" paper.  It brought back lots of warm memories and gave me the idea to reach for the tape measure washi tape, scissors brads, and a sewing machine stamp for this quick design.

I love kraft and black and decided to try out a relatively monochromatic scheme with just a couple of pops of color, repeating the color in a couple of places to tie things together.  There's the yellow tape measure and the yellow enamel dot flower center, the black spool brad and the shimmery (glitter pen) black spool atop the sewing machine, the Copic warm grey sewing machine and the metallic scissors, and finally the green leaves and green ribbon.  The colors cause your eye to travel around the visual triangle of the various elements, the neutral background colors make the yellow and green really pop, and the black grounds everything so that it all works together.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Fashionista!

Hello again and happy Friday!  I hope you're gearing up for an exceptional weekend, and for my American friends, a nice long Memorial Day holiday as we pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom.

I'm back with another card-upon-request, this one for a fashion school graduate.  I think this vintage kraft, red, black and ivory is one of my favorite color schemes!  My friend asked for a dress form image and some toile paper or fabric, and with that as a starting point, this is what I came up with.

In addition to fabric, fitting a pattern requires a measuring tape, some straight pins and scissors, a spool of thread and some machine stitching.  Once the garment is completed, it is tagged and hung on a rack...you can see the thought process behind the choices for this particular design and these embellishments.  :)

Since I used to make most of my own clothes, I really LOVED making this project!  It was a lot of fun!  I was pleased with the way it turned out, and I hope you like it, too!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
