A Unicorn Birthday Wish!

Hello, crafty friends!  I never seem to have enough birthday cards in my stash, so I thought today would be a great day to build up some of my stash!

I am really trying to work on some clean and simple cards, because they really allow the embellishments to shine.

I started by wrapping the edges of a card stock panel with Glitter Blue Green Washi Tape and adhered it to a pink card base.  I dry embossed the main card panel with a balloon embossing folder from my stash.  I die-cut the sentiment in teal card stock and adhered it to the embossed panel before setting some of the darling Unicorn Brads in place. I adhered the panel to the card front and added the Rainbow Brad to my bow with my hot glue gun.

This was such a fun card to create!  I hope you are inspired to pull out your favorite embellishments and get to work!

Rainbow Brad Book (Part 3 of 3)

It's the final chapter in my Eyelet Outlet Rainbow Brad Book, and while there isn't a big plot twist or anything, there are some great colors, like Yellow, Black, White and Red!

YELLOW turned out to have LOTS of great brad styles, like Emotion Brads, a Party HatWork TrucksLightbulbs (they're on sale!), a Colored Daisy, a Sun Brad, a Classic Car, a School Bus, a Mini Bee Brad, a Peppermint Candy and some very cool Tape Measure Washi.

BLACK is a great place to use my favorite Music Washi, not to mention Eye Glass Brads, a Graduation Hat, a Bicycle Brad, a sweet Puppy and Paw Print, a Zebra, a Cow, the fun Video Game setMovie Brads, a Spider and a Bat.

I was surprised to discover how many awesome choices of brad are WHITEKitten BradsToilet PaperClouds, another Cow (I couldn't decide if the Cows were more black or more white, so I added one to each page, lol!), a HeartSneaker and Water Bottle Brads, a Chicken with both Egg and Fried Egg Brads, a Ghost, some Eye Brads and a Skull. I used some Gold Script Washi as my tape for this page.

Finally, the color RED belongs at the beginning of the spectrum, and has been placed at the front of the completed book, but it was the final page I worked on. Below a strip of Red Dot Tape, it boasts Cardinal and Cardinal Profile BradsFirst Responders, the Apple set, a Mini Ladybug. a VacuumBoat and Lighthouse Brads, an AnchorCoffeeHoliday Coffee and Iced Coffee, plus our handsome Crab and Lobster.

Once I had all the pages complete, I placed them in (more or less) spectrum order. This shot doesn't really show the brads, but I love that because the page frames are solid cardstock in coordinating shades you get a great preview of all the colors by looking at the top of the book:

I hope you'll visit the Eyelet Outlet Blog often, to see what all of our amazing designers are up to!

loves all the colors
(and all the brads) equally!

Rainbow Brad Book (Part 2)

I (Lauren) am still working my way through the rainbow of Eyelet Outlet Brads (and Washi!) so here are a few more pages in my Rainbow Brad Book:

The BLUE page has some gorgeous Cloud Washi, as well as Stars, Parrots from the Tropical Bird set, Mask, Hand Sanitizer and Soap BradsTissues, a Blue Bird from the Blue Bird and Robin set, Birthday Candles and a couple of Safety Pins.

The GREY page (technically there are no neutrals in a rainbow, but there are lots in the EO Store!) consists of: Mail BradsGarden Tools, an Elephant from the Jungle Mix, a Muffin Pan from the Baking set and a Saucepan from our Cooking Brads, a Sketched Owl, a Koala, and some Pipe Brads; plus a bit of fun skinny Road Washi.

Heat Embossed Washi Tape Panel - Sending Smiles!

Hi everyone! It's Janet here with a bright and colorful card. This one has a background of washi tape in many styles and colors. Check out the shopping list for your favorite patterns. I decided to heat emboss a white diamond pattern over the entire panel and to my delight, it worked very well. I will say the panel initially warped from the heat but I applied an adhesive sheet behind the panel and attached to another piece of cardstock. This controlled the warping perfectly.

On top of this card, I added a fun die cut and strip sentiment. I couldn't help but add a unicorn and rainbow from the Unicorn & Rainbow Brads.

Thanks much for stopping by. Please stop by the store and check out the amazing inventory of washi tapes.

Happy Creating Everyone!

It's a RAINBOW Brad Book

Last year I (Lauren) made an Alphabet Brad Book featuring as many Eyelet Outlet Brads as I could fit onto two dozen or so playing-card-sized ATCs. That project was so much fun I thought I'd do a different version: this time grouping the brads --and a few coordinating EO Washi Tapes-- by color. So without further ado, I present my Eyelet Outlet Rainbow Brad Book!

The cover has a sticker title on top of Rainbow Washi decorated with a Rainbow Brad, a sweet blue Fairy and some white Enamel Stars

Eventually, I'll arrange the pages in spectrum order, but I've been working pretty randomly to choose coordinating brads, tapes and letter stickers, so at the moment, page one has all things ORANGE, including: a PumpkinCandy Corn, a Witch Hat, a Monster, some Foxes, a Tiger, a couple of Ducks, (...possibly a bit nervous being so close to the tiger...) Movie Brads, and the orange gecko from our Reptile Set. With a strip of Geometric Washi, to match.

Technically, a rainbow doesn't contain neutrals, but there are quite a few cool brads that are black, white, grey, and in this case, tan and BROWN, so I figured I'd add a few pages to reflect that. Here you can see: the Kennel Mix, a Paw Print, critters from the Jungle Mix and Lion, Tiger Zebra Set, a Teddy Bear, various Shell Brads, a Fan, a Sunglass BradFlip Flops and a refreshing Beer Brad. With a bit of Wood Washi to hold the title.

The PURPLE page boasts some yummy Grape Brads, a Butterfly, a purple Fairy, a lavender unicorn from the Unicorn and Rainbow set, Knitting Brads (they're on sale!) a Party HatStitched Flowers and Mini Stitched Flowers (also on sale!) as well as Dragonflies; all atop some Checked Purple Tape.

The pages are constructed from graph paper, backed with plain white cardstock, and measure just a smidge over 3.5 x 5.5". I used my vintage typewriter to add the words on coordinating strips of paper.

There are still more colors (and more neutrals!) yet to come, so I hope you'll stop by the Eyelet Outlet Blog again next week to see more Rainbow Brad goodness!

Unicorn and Rainbow Inspiration!

Hello, Eyelet Outlet fans! I hope you've had a great week! Leslie here, sharing a sweet inspirational card featuring our Unicorn & Rainbow Brads, Striped Washi Tape and Clear Jewel Bling! I sure do love me some bright rainbow colors, and this was definitely a fun one! This washi tape sure makes a striking background! ;)

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from white cardstock along with a layering panel that I covered with Striped Washi Tape and narrow strips of white cardstock, and adhered to the card base. I cut stitched scallop rectangles from white and dark purple cardstock and layered them together. I stamped the unicorn sentiment in pink ink, added Unicorn & Rainbow Brads along with Clear Jewel Bling, and adhered the piece to the background.

I cut the inside panel from white cardstock and embellished it with strips of Striped Washi Tape, dark purple and white cardstock, then stamped the sentiment in pink ink and layered the panel on the dark purple cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time!

"Plant a Garden...

...Feed a Bunny!" is yet another sentiment that I  (Lauren) saw on a t-shirt, and immediately had an entire card idea, featuring my Eyelet Outlet Rabbits and some other garden-related brads. Since it was just before Valentine's Day, and I had heart-y cards that made more sense, I sketched it on a piece of scrap paper and set it aside. I'll show you that sketch in a minute, but first, let's see the card:

Generally, when I sketch an idea, it's just visual notes of things I want to remember; often the card I wind up making doesn't look much like the original sketch, but this time it really did!

My diecut circles are cut from a piece of watercolor paper on which I had painted green grass and blue sky and then... for some reason... abandoned. I adhered a piece of picket fence diecut to the largest (2") circle and added the Rabbit Brads and a Heart. The upper of my two 1.5" circles holds a Sun and Cloud Brad as well as a rainbow from the Unicorn and Rainbow set; the lower has a Gnome Brad (they're on sale!); a trowel from the Garden Tools set and a Mini Butterfly, which I hadn't realized was discontinued, but you could swap a full-sized Butterfly, or a Mini Bee. The two 1" circles feature a Sunflower and Mini Ladybug; and the carrot and broccoli from the Vegetable Brad Set (which is also on sale) respectively.

With a change of sentiment, this design could easily translate into an Easter card, a fun birthday greeting for a gardener, or maybe even an anniversary card? That's the great thing about creativity, when you plant an idea, you never know what you might harvest later!

Look for Rainbows

I (Lauren) love rainbows! So I'm pretty pleased that Eyelet Outlet has Rainbow Tape (several styles, in fact) and Rainbow Brads (they come with unicorns!) and I'll take any excuse to use one or both, especially if I can also work in rainbow shades of Boot Brads, which are currently on special for just .99c!

I made two tape backgrounds from my current favorite Rainbow Washi; and used a fun handwriting font to print sentiments onto plain white cardstock. Cloud-edge dies continue the theme. My first card has a line of Boot Brads in rainbow order (there are five different colors, but don't worry, you get six MATCHING pairs of boots in each set!) The second card has only one pair of boots, but to set the scene, I've also incorporated Sun and Clouds, plus a rainbow from the Unicorn and Rainbow Brad set. Both cards have blue Tear Drop Bling rain splashes.

I hope these rainbows have brightened up your day, and if so, remember there are lots more at Eyelet Outlet!

Hope you enjoy this one using the Unicorn & Rainbow Brads as well as the Wine Brads and some Clear Sequins from the store to add some sparkle. I used a Darice Unicorn embossing folder with some Really Rainbow Designer Paper from Lawn Fawn. Super fast, fun and simple! Hope you enjoy it!

It's All Abbout the Washi Tape!

Today's card isn't a card!  It's a project that's fun to make, it lets creativity shine and it's useful!  Today, it's all about the Eyelet Outlet Washi Tape, Brads, and bookmarks.

This is a fun technique of blending two coordinating (or not) Eyelet Outlet Washi Tapes and making a bookmark.  It requires a bit of creativity, a bit of measuring, and lot of fun!

In the picture above, the unicorn bookmark was made using the Eyelet Outlet Unicorn Washi Tape and the Skinny Dotted Silver Washi Tape.  Here's how it's done:
  1.  Cut a bookmark base at 2" x 5.25"
  2.  Measure down on the left side .75" and place a light pencil mark.  Do the same for the right side.
  3. At the top, measure in .75" from each side
  4. Create the bookmark angles.  On the left side of the bookmark cut from the mark .75" down to the mark .75" across the top.  Do the same on the right side.
  5.  Select a backing paper if desired and cut larger(as desired) than the bookmark base.  Adhere the bookmark base to the backing paper.
  6.  Select two coordinating Eyelet Outlet Washi Tapes.
  7. Place the first tape at the bottom of the bookmark leaving extra on both sides (this will be taken care of later) and tear off the roll.
  8.  Add the second tape above the first tape leaving no space between them and tear off the roll.
  9.  Continue steps 7 & 8 until the bookmark is covered.
  10.  Now even the edges either by cutting them off or by folding the excess tape to the back of the bookmark (folding is easier, trust me on this one)
  11. Punch a hole at the center top of bookmark about .5" down and add string, twine or ribbon as desired.
  12.  Now decorate:  add a message with lettering, stamping, or stickers.  Be Creative!
  13.  Add a coordinating Eyelet Outlet Brad.  Both brads in the picture above are mounted on a 1"x1" square edged with one of the Eyelet Outlet Washi Tapes.  It is mounted on the bookmark with foam squares.
This is a great project for kids 8+.  These bookmarks can be made to keep, trade with friends, or given as gifts.  Please note:  supervision is a good thing to ensure safety with the scissors and/or paper trimmer with younger children.  You may want to create the bookmark bases ahead of time and have them begin with Step 6.

Flock Stars!

Everyone knows that I (Lauren) cannot resist a diabolical pun, so when my friend and Eyelet Outlet Design Team Alumnus Stephanie Severin showed me a fun bird illustration with the phrase "Party Like a Flock Star" of course my first thought was, that it make a great card... especially  if Eyelet Outlet Flamingo Brads were the flock in question!

I had two different ideas for making this concept visual, so rather than spend time deciding between them, I just made both! For my first card, I used an ink-blended panel in bright sea and sky colors, and added a few torn strips of Glitter Gold Tape to be sand and a few torn strips of Cloud Tape up in the sky. I added a Sun and Cloud Brad, plus a Rainbow to the top right and my *flock* of Flamingo Brads at the lower left, with my sticker sentiment occupying the space between.

My second idea was much more minimal, so I even pared down the sentiment, making it into a thank you card instead of a birthday greeting. I blended a very small area of the same ink colors and used one of my nested star dies to draw a star just a bit bigger than a Flamingo Brad. Then I paired the smaller alphabet stickers with my trusty old school Dymo Labelmaker, and finally added a few Star Brads from the Red, White and Blue set.

I hope you'll fly on over to the Eyelet Outlet Store and treat yourself to some fun embellishments and then use them to make cards for your "flock" of friends! ♥

loves flamingos and all other
hot pink birds! :)
