On Saturday Nov. 17 temperatures climbed high enough to make it feel like a spring day. At this time of year normally it is much cooler. I took advantage of it and went on a driving tour. I came across this scene at Port Perry. With the warm air and colder water meeting up, a fog formed over Lake Scugog.

Remembrance Day

The Colville Memorial Clock Tower was erected in remembrance of three brothers: William, age 25, Alexander, age 28, and John Colville, age 24, from Bowmanville. The Colville brothers were killed in action while serving as pilots overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. The memorial clock tower is dedicated to their memory.

This monument is a lasting tribute to the Colville brothers. It is also a reminder that many members of our community unselfishly went off to the war to give all Canadians a future in our country.

Signs, Signs - Protect The Butterfly

Someone cares enough about the survival of the Monarch Butterfly to instal a makeshift sign. The eggs are laid on milkweed plants. They hatch into baby caterpillars, also called the larvae. It takes about four days for the eggs to hatch. Then the baby caterpillar doesn't do much more than eat the milkweed in order to grow. After about two weeks, the caterpillar will be fully grown and find a place to attach itself so that it can start the process of metamorphosis. In about 10 days the Monarch Butterfly will emerge. Sunrise - Running Right On Time

At 2:00 A.M. this morning most Canadians turned their clocks back one hour switching from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time. This makes people believe that events are now happening an hour later. The only one not effected by this time shift is Mother Nature. She keeps on ticking with the same old clock that has been in use since the begriming of time.
