Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church ~ St Catherine of Sienna (St. Malo) Chapel ~ Church on the Rock ~ Estes Parks, Colorado ~ Fall Color

St. Malo Chapel ~ Church on the Rock

In my opinion, Church on the Rock,

is one of the most beautiful

churches in Colorado.

The magnificent combination

of mountains, forest, sky

and nature

combined with this beautiful, stony

piece of architecture.

The fiery fall glow

adds an extra special touch to this truly amazing place.

Oh and an Elk!!!

Castles of Colorado ~ Castle Eyrie ~ Idaho Springs

Castle Eyrie

One day while sitting in Beaujos, we noticed a picture of a castle on the wall.  Upon asking the waitress, we found she knew little more than we did about the place.  After looking in my castle book we made another attempt to find it . . . To no avail.  This fall we made one more attempt to find it, while we were up taking pictures of fall colors.  I guess third time is the charm.  Its right in Idaho Springs on one of the off streets.  They have it pretty well camouflaged surrounded by foliage.  One could easily drive right by it completely missing it.  Being a private residence I can see why the owners would value their privacy.  Still ever the tourist even in my own state I was happy to finally make such a find.  Should you care to see more of our castle adventures you can find them here, here, here, and here.

Four Mile Historic Park

Four Mile Historic Park

More Colorado History Four Mile House was the last stop coming west before reaching Denver.

The guided tour takes you through the buildings filled with artifacts from the old west.

The old saloon.

This gives cabin fever new meaning.  Can you imagine living in  small room like this?

Spinning tales of the old west.

and this is the refrigerator.

The girls were very excited about the horses.

The school house.

and the barn.  Did I mention I love barns?
