we finally celebrated the boogerbear's birthday at home (we were visiting family in houston on his actual birthday) today. it was a beautiful day and it was a great time to play at the park!
thank you to everyone who made it! we loved being able to spend the afternoon with everyone!!!

hello blog. how are you?
i'm doing good. busy. but busy is good. i totally got the christmas decorations up. one day this week we're planning on going to pick out a tree and i will decorate it accordingly. then, this weekend, i'm planning on stapling lights to the house. griswald style. gifting is working out well. i still have loads to make for people, but i have lists completed. the small child has come down with a cold. he's a bit pathetic. all snotty and scratchy sounding. he's holding up the christmas cards though. i was planning on slipping in a picture with santa into them, but there is no way i'm taking him for another round with santa in his condition. round one with santa was quite interesting. we had been talking about going to see santa and he was cool with that, but, as soon as i asked him to sit on santa's lap, he was clingier than one of those koala bear's that holds onto things. you know the ones. so yea, no picture with santa.
anywho, i should finish packaging up the cards and tags that will be for sale at Memories Live On shortly. woots. (easier than etsy for this round.)
until next time...

i'm a bad bloger.
oh wells.
i'm pretty pooped these days. trying to sew and get other projects organized and out the door. oh and that whole parenting thing. how easily i forget. or not. anywho, i'm slowly chipping away at the to do list and definately feeling less over whelmed by it. this coming week i still have plenty of lofty goals including starting a daily "preschool activity" with the boogerbear. think a daily color/shape/letter/number/trig equation/days of the week. some of these things he knows (i.e. the color purple), but its also about re-enforcing them in a structure manner such as grouping the colors then moving onto shapes then letters. monday we do the color red. we're going to eat strawberries, red jello, and tomato soup. we will put red feathers onto a red foam birdie that i have pre cut out of fun foam. we will add the red fun foam "scoop of ice cream" on top of the fun foam "cone" which will eventually create a high stack of ice cream as we work our way through the colors. i have a few other things up my sleeve, but its 2:30am and i'm in no mood to regurgitate my lesson plans to the internets. or use spell check for that matter.
ok, so its bed time. i hope to take photos of the things i've been working on for etsy and myself tomorrow. we will see. g'nights.
i really love the deftones song on my play list. full of very awesome memories and some how relaxes me. love it.

traveling clothes.

so i bought tyler this t-shirt a while back from milkbomb.com and got some good use out of it lately. i feel like he has to wear this shirt everytime we fly or its wasted. dont get me wrong. we wear it randomly as well as when we travel. i just really enjoy the faces of people who "get it". toddler travel is exciting. just like this layout i made to honor the awesome t-shirt.
so, husband is officially out of this time zone for a spell. as a result, i expect i will get more than usual done like every other time he's been out of town. in honor of getting loads of stuff done (which i havent actually done yet...) i think i will embark in a skirmish of age of empires and then hit the sack. tootaloo.

no pictures. just me babbling.
par for the course, we've been keeping busy around these parts.
i've been working on some class layouts and sewing. with in the next week or two i hope to start stocking my etsy shop. i'm a bit hesitant to use etsy.com. sure its a super hip place to buy handmade/vintage goods. like a reborn ebay. or is it? or maybe i shold say was it? i've had more than one person tell me that i really should set up and stock this shop with whatever it is i make, but then i get down to it and i start in on my research and i wonder if i'm just going to waste the few cents it costs to put up a listing. etsy is a big place these days. i can see a few meager listings getting lost very easily. i guess its worth a shot? today i went to thesanta clara scrapbook expo and stocked up on more thickers and american craft papers (namely the entire travel and everyday collections)courtesy of green tangerine. i also visited the hambly studios which were awesome. i got some of there new papers (think bird cages and bicycles) and was able to gawk at the massinve screen printing machinery that they use. its amazing. we're not talking about a do it yourself screen for a canvas or even one of the fancy machine that prints on fabric. oh no. we're talking about a warehouse long maachine that prints on beautiful papers and overlays. not only do they make all of their screen prints at that location, but also their prismatic stickers which can be found at any michael's craft stores. if i have my facts straight, hambly stickers are a part of most of our past. think back at the end of those dreaded childhood doctor/dentist visits when you got some kind of small toy and a nifty sticker that came off a giant roll. a lot of those stickers were hambly stickers! but they were back in the day hambly. hambly has a new owner and while it still has those delightfully reminesent stickers, they have a whole new edge with their papers & overlays. ok, enough hambly horn tooting.
the boogerbear is in high gear these days, but what else is new? he's busy telling me his colors and animal sounds and repeating every effing word i say. every. effing. word. i also think he's potty training himself. for the past couple months we've been practicing sitting on the potty and just talking about it. for the past week or so, he's been ripping off his diaper, opening the bathroom door, and peeping in the potty. or sometimes he tells us he has to go. and there is nothing more hilarious than him sitting on his little baby bjorn potty and grunting as he lets out a HUGE fart. tomorrow, i think we're going to pick up a pack of training pants while we're at whole foods and see how that goes. i think i'm going to also start giving him stickers or some treat for everytime he POOPs in the potty. the peeping seems to be coming naturally, but i've heard some horror stories about 4year olds and poopie diapers. i think a little incentive on the poopie front might be worth a try. too bad hambly doesnt make prismatic stickers shaped like little turds. maybe i should email them...
husband is off again for a couple weeks. i see lots of gymboree and visits to grandma's house in our immediate future.
for now, i should go zip up husband's suitcase and hit the sack. for some ungodly reason, he booked an early flight tomorrow. yuck.

the uncommon cold.

i still have a cold. still. over a week has passed and i still sit here hacking and snotting up the place. i feel better, but scare everyone within a 100feet radius of me that i'm going to hack up a lung at them. worse than that, the "drainage" keeps heading towards my ears. i have some drops (prescription vinegar & oil solution to be exact) that chases the "drainage" back into my head. good times. good times.

on a consumerism up note. as a family, we decided that its high time for theboogerbear to receive his first train set. the MIL has a fabulous wooden brio train set that tyler adores and i plan on recreating for our house as well. there is a couple bday returns that i think we will exchange for a simple starter set and some thomas pieces. oh yes, he's totally into the whole thomas thing. too bad that i'm just catching on that he's ready for this. we JUST missed Roaring Camp's special thomas the tank whatchamawhosit. oh well. there is always next year. until there there is wooden tracks and thomas dvds.

ATTACK OF THE GIANT CUPCAKE!!!!

i ordered one of those giant cupcake pans. it is possible that it will be her in time for a certain boogerbear's big no.2 party. maybe not though. i hope so. it would be too rad to make a couple giant cupcakes (its a party for two, the boogerbear and his auntieKT) with plastic dinosaurs trying to munch on them... anyone have any baking in mind or is it too hot for you guys these days?

so many layouts...
but so little natural light to photograph them. tonight i cranked out 5 layouts. unfortunately i only have photos to share of one of the completed layouts and a class project in progress.

I love this photo of my MIL. in her hand is an ever so tiny bud of a flower plucked from her backyard and presented to her by the boogerbear. he may have been naked at the time. i dont recall. either way, it reminds me of what a cutie patootie we have.

Another up and coming class. Obviously not finished, but this is for what we're calling an "advanced" techniqe class. i have some ideas in my head, but i'm not 100% exactly sure where this layout is going at the moment. i thought i would share a little before and after with you guys.
anywho, that insomnia of mine apparently wanted to keep me up long enough to catch the 4am showing of Coming to America. SUCESS! although, i think i was only ment to watch the first hour. the eyes are getting droopy. YAY! good thing too. tomorrow brings an adventure to the local costco for printer ink and milk (fyi, cheapest place for organic milk that i've found even vs. sales, but you need to go through 2gallons a week-ish...) at some point i need to head to the scrapbook store to work on that layout i mentioned earlier(that might wait for monday. hooray for long weekends and husband who will stay at home with the boogerbear), take advantage of the sunshine and get some photos taken of those other pages i finished tonight, do a little laundry, look into flights to houston, take a nap, water the plants (the ones i havent murdered yet), pick up a new knob to our entertainment center, and so on and so forth. crap i'm tired.
the birds are already starting to chrip outside. laying in bed and listening to the birdie birds outside has to be one of my favorite things. although i tend to do it more at the end of my sleep cycle rather than the begining of it. OH WELLS! its good to mix it up from time to time. right? right.
that is all.

terrific twos...
my ass. The boogerbear has taken a turn for the best, and by best I mean the worst, most horrible and mean direction possible. Pure evil is secreted by the gallon out of this kid daily. For a while there we had a really cute vocabulary including his body parts (and mine…), purple, green, I, love, you (yes, separately), generic barn yard animal noises and so on and so forth. Now, I’m not sure he can say anything other than NOoooo, MEEEEeeeeeee, MIIIIIIINE, [GO,GO,GO,GO] (this is normally said as he’s pulling/pushing a parent around a room), and BAAAAAAAAAAAAALL. Oh wells, this too shall pass. I just thought everyone should know that, if you have a child or many, they are better than my child. Go and give them a kiss on the forehead.
Anywho, that’s been my week. Actually, today the child was much better and we have an action packed day planned for tomorrow including Gymboree, lunch with dad, a possible park play date, our new fangled daily (almost) 2+ mile stroller walk where hopefully he will fall asleep. Last week was so freaking hot I got us all geared up (you know, the swim diapers, 5gallon bucket of sunscreen, new spring float since I cant find last year’s or figure out who I lent it to, dig out my swim suits that fit, launder the beach towels, you get the point) to go to the pool again and, just as I was ready to jump in, it cools down and gets really windy all of the sudden. Oh well, it will warm up again I’m pretty sure.

my child has gone evil on my ass.
not literally, but he's definately having a mini-identity crisis. he's gone from a pretty easy going kid to a bossy, very opinionated, cranky, poop monster. its almost getting to the point i want to call the pediatrician and tell him that the boogerbear is broken and ask to please fix him. why dont i think that will work? grr...
oh well, maybe kelly's MIL will send me some helpful advice.

our afternoon.
HEY MOM! what's over there?
NO! WAIT! OVER THERE!!!

OMFG! there's some water over there!
oh but i found a STICK!
never mind that! JAPAN HERE I COME!
you picked me up mom, what the fux?
no really, WHAT THE FUX LADY!!?!?!?!
on that note, we went home for some quality napage. i have sand down my shirt. i'm tired. i want a taco.

too tired to think of a post title.
ugh. so tired this morning. i even went to bed before 4am last night! for those of you who don't know, i have lame, untreated insomnia or, as i call it, night owl-idis. i've always been this way. my mother says even as an infant, i partied all night and slept all day. growing up, i struggled with early bedtimes, always getting perkier as the night went on. as an adult, it was more common for me to struggle with, but accept, 4 or so hours of nightly rest. a typical night owl. i think. now, i really want to go to sleep at a somewhat decent hour and i cant. i lay in bed, in the dark, in a room devoid of all stimulus and i just cant shut down. that good ol' brain of mine keeps churning and i keep telling it to leave me ALONE! stupid brain.
so, sunday and monday night i self-emposed a personal exile to the couch. we have a very comfortable couch, so, even though i went to sleep after 4am on those nights, i did get some restful feeling sleep. last night i went to sleep in the family bed with husband and the boogerbear. i went to sleep pretty quick by my standards (under 20minutes i would say), but only to be KICKED by the boogerbear. grr... that would have been fine, but he kept doing it. no matter how i moved him, those little legs kept managing to find me. as a result of his kicking i never got into a deep sleep and i'm left feeling like i didnt sleep a wink last night.
once husband left this morning, i scooted the boogerbear over and i dont know if he kept kicking and i just didnt feel it or if i wasnt in HIS space so he didnt bother kicking ME! *sigh* this leads me to believe their is a problem in our bed. there is just not enough room for the three of us anymore. i know i've talked about putting the boogerbear in a big boy bed before, but i think its affecting the quality of our sleep (not to mention i spend about 60% of our nights on the couch now) and thats not cool.
OK. one more cup of coffee and i promise i'll go check out some matress places. i promise. (anyone know a good matress website?)
