For those of you who know me, know that I am in love with Athleta. Since college, or even before, I have been going to the annual warehouse sale where I find amazing deals on the cutest workout clothes and shoes. The last 2 years I’ve even been able to work the sales. Well, months before the sale actually takes place in the summer, I start dreaming about Athleta, yes I actually dream about it. So a few weeks ago, my athlete dreams started (yes I’m pregnant and dreaming about everything under the sun, as you can see) but nevertheless. So today, I called their warehouse and found out that there will NOT be an Athleta sale this year, I’m SOOOO bummed! I’m hoping it is a mistake but I have a bad feeling it’s not, for all of you Athleta fans, me included, it’s a sad, sad day!

Gap Acquires Athleta for $150 Million
Okay not sure how I feel about this. I was talking to my mom on the phone this morning and she had mention that there was a big merge between Gap and my beloved Athleta. I'm not sure of the ramifications but I'm still hoping there will be the yearly warehouse sale. Is that so wrong? This was published in the NY Post.
Athleta sells yoga, running, skiing, snowboarding and surfing gear online and by catalog.
The acquisition will help Gap expand its share of the $31 billion women’s active apparel sector in the United States and greatly expand its online presence. Gap’s online sales rose to $905 million in 2007, from $595 million in 2005, a 52 percent increase.

Athleta merchandise will be available on Gap’s new Web site, which allows consumers to click through all of its labels — Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Piperlime — and pay one shipping fee.
“This strategic acquisition complements our brands perfectly and allows us to leverage our new online platform to expand into this significant retail sector,” said Glenn K. Murphy, Gap’s chairman and chief executive.
Joe Teno, Athleta’s chief executive, will remain as president of Athleta at Gap upon completion of the deal.
It will be a while, however, until consumers are able to shop for Athleta gear on Gap’s Web site. Louise Callagy, a spokeswoman for Gap, said the merchandise would not be online in time for this holiday season.

Summer fun!
The last couple of weeks have been very fun and relaxing. I went to visit my parents and some friends in Santa Rosa about a week ago. I love feeling like I’m in the country when I’m there. It’s also fun because in the morning you can hear the neighbors roosters cock-a-doo-da-ling and yet my parents are still 5 minutes from Target. It’s great.

A few highlights of the trip included:
1. Working the once a year Athleta sale. Athleta is a women’s clothing catalog company that makes the cutest clothes and they are so comfortable. Last year I found out that if you work the sale you get to shop a day early and get first dibs on everything. So low and behold I was able to work the sale and am hoping that next year I’ll be able to do the same. It’s actually pretty funny because women will camp out hours before the sale so that they can be the first in line to start shopping. Last year I saw a couple of women even fight over articles of clothing, so silly! Here are some of my finds.
The crazyness of the Athleta sale.
2. I helped throw a baby shower for Mercedes and had a great time seeing old friends and getting to mingle with some new ones. I saw a picture of this “baby carriage” fruit salad and thought I would give it a try. My mom was a huge help and it was so fun making it together.
