First day on the job highlights @ Berry Swirl

1) I was issued an XL tee-shirt that when tucked into my jeans went down to my knees.
2) Was looked at as “cool” by my fellow employees because I could drive and had my own ride. AWESOME!
3) Only hit my head once on the large metal shelf that hung next to the sinks.
4) Dropped only 6 cartons of frozen yogurt on the ground while attempting to neatly transfer them from the freezer to the refrigerator. (They were really heavy!)
5) Put in 3.24 hours at a rate of $8.25/hr. For a grand total of $26.73.
6) Might get a monetary bonus since I’m CPR certified.
7) Didn’t have to clean the bathroom or ash tray outside last night.
8) I get 50% off yogurt.

Over all it was a little different than I had imagined, it wasn’t as glorious as I had expected! When I got home and began sharing all of the juicy details with Eric he asked what I expected my yogurt working experience to be like. I told him that I pictured myself sitting on a little stool reading the third book of the “Twilight” series when there weren’t any customers to help, getting free yogurt whenever I wanted, you know all of the fun stuff. Till next time! Happy Yogurt EATING!

Am I NUTS???

First things first, I really, really LOVE frozen yogurt!!! Last week I somehow made it to Berry Swirl, a new self serve frozen yogurt shop right down the street from us, 3 times! I felt very guilty about this so I confessed to Eric that I had gone there so much. Like the sweet husband that he is, he said that I deserve to enjoy my summer break and that it's good to have a treat every now and again.

On Tuesday I was hanging out with my sweet friend Brooke when a thought dawned on me. Here was my thought process...

"I love self serve frozen yogurt... why don't I get a job at the yogurt shop."

So yesterday morning I was all excited as I went to the computer to type up my resume. My objective stated: "A position at Berry Swirl where I can share my enthusiasm for frozen yogurt. (followed by a smiley face)" After I finished my resume I headed down to the shop to see if they were hiring. To my DELIGHT, I met both managers and they said that in fact they were. Long story short, I had my interview today and YOUR NEVER GOING TO BELIEVE IT (drum roll please...) I GOT THE JOB!!! I was so stoked. I told them I could really only work one night a week right now since I'll be starting up teaching in a few weeks. They were game though.

Next week I start training and their going to teach me how to use the register, train me on using the scale to weight the yogurt, how to chop the fruit, and I’m sure a variety of other fun and interesting things. Training starts Monday morning and I can't wait.

So you might be asking yourself. “How does Eric feel about all of this?” I asked him of course before I applied and to this he exclaimed, “I think you are ridiculous and silly but I love you and support you.”

So Berry Swirl here I come!

Some Highlights from Puerto Vallarta!

Timeshares:
As soon as we enter the main part of the Puerto Vallarta Airport we saw our names on a sign and though, "Oh how nice we are famous!" Little did we know that we were about to be bamboozled by greedy timeshare leeces that were willing to sell their souls just to get you to visit their resort for a "brief presentation." It turned out to be not too shabby by the end of our stay we had played these timeshare leeches lika a bagpipe (as Eric would like to say) and received a free excursion, half price on another excursion, 2 delicious breakfasts and $300!

RAMONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Royal Decamaron:

We were stoked on the price of our all-inclusive accommodations, but when we got there we were a little disappointed. Our room smelled a little funky and the food was like a revolving door. The cool thing was we had free reign with drinks, kayaks, volleyball, bicycles, and even a sail boat. They even had nightly entertainment, but unfortunately it was a little too ethnic for us. They had a guy dress up as a woman called “Ramona” who kept pulling his skirt up and showing his back side and unfortunately there was a rip in his underwear!!!! It was classic. Needless to say we only had one night with Ramona.

This is where we wished we were staying, one of the other resorts we hung out at!

Loaded Questions:

Hilarious game! We were huge fans of this, if you haven’t played it we highly recommend it! Be prepared to LAUGH!!!

Canopy:

We took a 2 hour bus ride to los Veranos, where we soared through the jungle on zip lines. We weren’t sure Matt or Lori were going to make it and me for that matter. The day before, I was sick as a dog (was it the water…greasy chips??? Who knows) luckily I felt better that day. As for Matt, as soon as he put his helmet on we thought he was a goner. Apparently he wasn’t too fond of the “sweaty, mildewy, rotten” aroma that permeated from his helmet. Luckily he made it. Lori, Lori, Lori, well I guess it is part of their policy that if you are pregnant you aren’t supposed ride. Well, long story short, they asked Lori if she was pregnant and well let’s just say Lori looked shocked and surprised by their question. We all got to go – yeah!

Rhythm of the Nights:

We took this little boat out to Las Caletas for an evening of scrumptious food and exciting entertainment. It rained most of the night which made it that much more fun! The boat cruised along the coast and on the way back we enjoyed a little dance party with the crew members. Matt and Brooke got the award for “Most Creative” and “Most Energetic” dancers, not really but they should have! Quite an enjoyable night!
Part of the show.

Just singin' in the rain!

Thanks for a great trip Browns & Halversons! You guys were great travel buddies when's the next trip???

Happy Valley (Eric's dad's name for Provo, Ut)

We went to Utah for the 4th of July this year and had such a blast. I think it was one of our most eventful Utah trips yet. Below are a few of the highlights:
Provo Canyon
Going tubing in the Provo river with Eric's brothers

The Koehle boys running their first race together. We ran a 5k in Provo for the Freedom Festival and had such a good time. Eric’s boss challenged him to set a goal for himself and run the race in under 30 minutes. Keep in mind Eric had never run more than 2 miles in his life consecutively before this. Eric did awesome and ran it in under 30! He actually thought he was going to win the race but he fell a little short and came it 600th something.

Headed over to the cousins house for a 4th of July BBQ.
Went to Stadium of Fire @ BYU. It was really an amazing show. It was actually the most spiritual 4th of July I think I’ve ever had. It helped me appreciate all of the amazing freedoms we have living here in America. Truly we are so blessed!
Miley Cyrus and the Blue Man Group were there... we enjoyed the BMG quite a bit but Miley didn't do much for us :)

Hiking in Aspen Grove was lots of fun even though we were supposed to go to the Timpanogos Cave but we ran out of gas on the way up. Luckily we were able to coast down the mountain and safely make it to a gas station. I was ready to pull my hair out!!!!!!!!!

We met Becca and Andrew some of our good friends that just moved to UT from the DC area. It was so great to see them and their family. Esther and Robbie, their brother and sister, have the most darling baby “Quatro,” who I am holding in the picture. Eric and I were ready to adopt right then and there.

Christmas in July

Birthdays are so much fun although each year I can’t believe another year has passed. This year I turned the big 2 – 8! Yeaks! Brooke’s birthday is on the 1st and mine is on the 3rd so this year we went out for dinner and to get our nails done to celebrate. I felt very spoiled. When I got home Eric had presents wrapped for me in Christmas paper with a cute little card on top. It was very funny and thoughtful! I love birthdays!
Lori bought us some Gilligan island hats to show our patriotism for the 4th of July. They got some good use in Mexico! Thanks Lori!!!!!!

Mr. Handyman

This summer I’ve had my usual list of 101 things to do, some of which I have been postponing for a while. Emi and Jason two of my good buddies were driving through on their way to Mexico and stopped by to say hello. I told them that I was working on extending the drip system in my back yard and literally 2 hours later & 2 trips to Home Depot Emi and Jason had finished the entire drip system. I was so excited!

Jason is “Mr. Handyman” and when he told me that he was going to help he asked if Eric would feel like he was taking his job. To this I laughed out loud and told him that Eric would be super stoked. That night when I told Eric what Jason had said Eric replied, “Did you ask Jason if he could mow the lawn, water the plants, fix the down stairs toilet…” and the list went on and on. So nice to have my own “Mr. Handyman” at home!

Thanks for your help you guys, you are amazing!!!
