Turkey, Cesme, Blue Monday

This is the town of Cesme in Turkey......which means fountain in the Ottoman days because of the many fountains around the city. It is a very popular summer resort area and gets quite populated during the summer season.

 Blue waters.......

 Blue skies....and waters.

This part of the town is like a small fishing village. Every morning the fisherman bring in their catches of the day and sell them off. Mostly this town has a lot of restaurants and that's from where most buyers are from.
During the summer season this town has thousands of tourists because it has great beaches and lots of great hotel resorts......fabulous daily bazaars, lots of old ruins, great restaurants and night life and antiquities to visit.

Izmir Turkey

Today I'm linking to
Be sure and visit the other participants.

I'm showing Izmir Turkey and some of the "outdoor' workers that are there everyday of the week.......trying to make a living. I posted some of the various jobs. Trust me it gets extremely hot there in the summer and some of those jobs I would rather stay in.

This lil' old lady with her husband has this make-shift tent and whips up these goodies all day and sometimes around noon there is a line/up. it's like a very thin pita bread with a cheese filling and some herbs......and then they roll it up for you.

These ladies are making a dough called 'yufka', they then fill it and bake it. This is done in a park, with seating outdoors all around and beautiful flowers. It's quite nice and so peaceful to be sitting in this park with the noisy city behind you.

This guy is selling his purses, a lot of them are knock-offs and you sure can spot it. Believe or not but they sell for about 2 dollars. Thats what I call a bargain.

This woman sets her lil' business up everyday with her teenage son in the outdoor market and whips these things up non/stop. It is filled with cheese and some greens and herbs. Very delish........yummmm brings back memories. Her son bakes them for her in some make-shift contraption of a small barbecue. If you look on the bottom left you will see the finished product.

Some village ladies come into town and sell these flowers and some herbs and unbelievable prices that we in North America would never dream off. I got a huge bunch of Fresia for 2 bucks, probably 5o dollars worth here. At the end of the day they are all sold out. People love flowers there and aleays buy some on their way home.

These 2 Rabbits also have a daily job.........you pay the vendor a dollar and he lets the rabbit pick out a piece of paper for you and on it it has your fortune. I know it sounds fishy......but hey the poor guy makes al iving with his rabbit buddies. The rabbits are so well trained and all the kids come up to pet them....so cute.

For 5 dollars this driver and his horseys go around the city.........you can hear them clopping on the old brick roads form the 17 th centuery. This is my fave when I visit my Sisiter-in-Law.

These lil' shoe shine men are on every corner of the city almost and I must admit are quite busy.

Yummmmmmmmm.......the Turkish Doner, so good. But with that weapon that he's holding it's quite scary to ask him for a sandwich. They put it on a fresh pita with tomatoes [that are like real tomatoes], Turksih green peppers [like a Cubanelle], onions and some white cheese and parsley. So delish.

Poor lil' man he fell asleep in the sun trying to sell his dried herbs........I use to see him there everyday of the week. Can't remember which herb it is but he usually would sell them off.

Turkey

These 'blues' are pictures from Izmir, Turkey........
This is a shopping mall in Izmir called The Agora...... this area during ancient times was a bustling bazaar. The name 'agora' in Greek means a place of assembly. This plaza has all the same stores like in North America. For example The Gap, The Body Shop, Sephora, Starbucks only to name a few. I feel like I never left Toronto.
The entrance to the Shopping Mall. The blue sky reflects on the glass front.

Beautiful blue skies............this is a square in front of the mall with those palm trees.

Turkish Blue Waters

Be sure and visit the other participants to see all the 'blues'.

Today I'm showing the Blue Waters of Cesme, Turkey. It is a beach and hotel resort less then one hour away from the city of Izmir...... it is along the Aegean Sea. My husband took these pictures in April of this year, but a month later when the weather is scorching HOT it is very crowded with tourists from all around the world.
The beaches are jam packed and all hotels are booked solid. My husbands childhood friend lives here now so that was why he was visiting here. In the future when we retire we will be looking for a cottage here to spend the summers.........I especially love the Bazzars and Farmer's Markets, they are amazing.
Path to the beaches........

In the summer the docks are full of private yachts and sailboats.

Some rooftops of cottages where people have for the summers.

The boardwalks and condo's on the side.

Hotels and Ferry Boats along the boardwalk. In summer this boardwalk has people walking, jogging and just strolling along, very busy.

My husband's friends sailboat, it sleeps about 9 people.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my tour of Cesme, Turkey and the gorgeous Blue waters they have there.

Fish Tank

A couple of months ago my husband was in Turkey and he went to this town called Cesme in Turkey along the Aegean Sea to visit his childhood friend. While he was there his friend's neighbour had this incredible fish tank in front of his house. This is only their summer home......the person who owns this home apparently loves fish. My husband said it looks incredible, but he's out there everyday feeding them.
This town Cesme has quite a large fishing industry there. Every morning the fisherman bring in their fish they 'catch of the day' and have an auction at the docks. There are lots of restaurant and hotels coming in to buy the fresh fish for their menu's.
This town is also a very busy tourist attraction due to the beautiful beaches it has and some amazing summer homes for the folks from the big cities and 5 star Hotels.
Most restaurants specialize in fish palates.........I was never a big fish person till I ate here, you can really taste the freshness especially when you have it with one of their salads. Ahhh brings back memories to my taste buds.

Hope you enjoyed your tour.
