For my people will live as long as trees...For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children too, will be blessed. I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs,I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:22-24

Banana paniyaram ( Sweet banana dumplings)

Banana paniyaram ( Sweet banana dumplings)
Basmathi rice - 1 alak, powdered jaggery- 3/4 alak, salt- a pinch, cardamom pwd- 1/4 tsp, thein vazhai( honey bananas or miniature bananas) - 4
Soak rice for 4 hours. Grind the rice to a smooth paste , add the bananas, jaggery pwd, cardamom pwd & grind for another 5 minutes till everything blends into a homogenous mixture.
Heat paniyaram pan & pour 1/4 tsp olive oil in each depression. Now pour a ladle of batter in each depression & allow to cook on low heat . With a fork, turn the dumplings & allow to cook on the other side too till slightly crisp on both sides. Serve warm or cold . Can be stored in the fridge in a ziplock bag for one or two days.

These paniyarams will be slightly crisp on the outside & soft & chewy inside. Normally one uses ghee to fry these paniyarams , but i used olive oil & found that it did not make any great difference in taste !

Maundy thursday dinner - Dosai & dried green peas masala

Maundy thursday dinner - Dosai & dried green peas masala

Maundy Thursday - also called Holy Thursday, is the beginning of the three day celebration of Easter - the most important time in the year for Christians. This period ('The Triduum') is one big celebration, remembering the last supper, the crucifixion and the death of Jesus, and the Resurrection to new life.

Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.

The Last Supper
On this day, Christians remember the Last Supper. During the meal Jesus took bread and wine and shared them with his disciples. Christians continue to share bread and wine as part of their worship in church.

The Last Supper was probably a Passover meal – the meal which Jewish people share together to celebrate the time when God delivered Moses and the people from slavery in Egypt.

The night of Maundy Thursday is the night on which Jesus was betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.
