Serendipity New Spring Product Blog Hop

Happy Wednesday...lots of fun going on here at Serendipity Stamps as there are some new products just released that we all have been playing with for the last few days.  It is always fun to receive something new, especially if it is the middle of Winter and you receive Spring stamps and dies.  It gives you a little hope that beautiful Spring weather is just around the corner.

Today the Serendipity Design Team is having a blog hop to share some of the new Spring products.  There is a great prize up for grabs too...$20 off your next order which will go to one lucky random commenter.  Make sure you leave a little comment on all of our blogs for the best chance to win.  You have until Friday, February 1st to leave a comment with the winner being announced on the Serendipity Blog on Monday.

I chose one of the new dies to work with today...the Love Die.  It is the absolute perfect size and looks great on both A2 or a 5 x 7 card as I have made today.  I also can't wait to use it on a scrapbook page I am making for my son's wedding.

You can purchase the die alone or as part of the Love Die and Hearts Stamp Set

This would be a cute card to give for Valentines Day, an anniversary or any other occasion where the focus is on Love.  I cut my banners from a Recollections Valentines Day pack and that beautiful, ornate heart is from Serendipity (Heart Scroll Die).  It cuts out such a beautifully detailed heart and also has a solid background die that goes with it (Heart Outline) if you decide to use it.  I added a pretty red flower and some stickpins along with a tiny bit of ribbon.

Wondering what else is new for the Spring release?  Make sure to check out the blogs of the other Design Team Members.  I am anxious to see what products they chose to work with today too!  Don't forget to leave a comment on all of the blogs for a chance to win the $20 off your next order.

SSCB#3 - Have a Heart

Happy New Year!  All of the Christmas decorations have been taken down and stored away for next year.  Along with that, I have moved on from Christmas cards and am looking forward to making cards for other holidays and occasions.  Today is the third challenge for the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog and we had some really beautiful and creative cards posted during the past two weeks for SSCB#2.  I am sure glad I am not the one who has to decide the winner!   If you haven't heard about our new blog challenge...get right over here and check it out!  Every two weeks a new challenge is posted and all you have to do is make a card using one Serendipity image...you can use any other materials you want as long as there is one Serendipity stamp or die used on the card.  Each challenge, the card maker that knocks our socks off will be given a cute badge to display on their blog and a randomly drawn winner will receive $20 off their next Serendipity order.  Definitely a great prize to win!   Don't have any Serendipity stamps yet?  Follow this link to the Serendipity Store and and prepare to be amazed at the wide variety of beautiful, highly detailed stamps and dies.

Now, on to this weeks challenge which is titled, "Have a Heart".  Our challenge is to use a heart somewhere on our cards.   The only difficult part of this challenge for me was how to choose the stamp... since Serendipity has a ton of great heart stamps and a beautiful set of dies with hearts on them too.    After much thought, I decided on this cute image...Heart Quilt.
Serendipity Stamps Heart Quilt Will You Be mine Valentines Day Love Yard Banner
I used Serendipity Stamps Heart Quilt colored with copics and Will You Be Mine for the sentiment.  I decided to make my whole card "quilted" and cut a variety of squares and rectangles from Reminisce patterned paper (Sweetheart, My Love and Valentine Stripe).  I used an embossing folder on some solid red, kraft and blue cardstock and zig-zag stitched it all together with my sewing machine.  I added a tiny lace border to my heart quilt and hung it from a large glittered "Love" paperclip.

Whew!  That was a lot of talk and I am sure you would much rather look at some cute "Have a Heart" cards, wouldn't you?  This week we are so lucky to add a new member to our Design Team...
Anya Schrier!
I know what you are thinking...THE Anya Schrier of Life is What You Make It? It is!  I am so excited to be on the same design team with someone I have long admired.  Please make sure to welcome Anya as you check out the Have a Heart creations made by the Serendipity Design Team.

Don't forget to play along with our challenge.  It's easy and fun way to win some new stamps!

Serendipity Blog Challenge #1

Today is a very special day...a first, actually.  It is the very first day of the brand new Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog.   I have been using on the Serendipity Stamps Design team for six months and am so excited that we have our very own challenge blog now!   Serendipity Stamps Design Team member Jeanne Jachna of A Kept Life put a ton of work into getting this challenge up and running.  She had some help from the very talented Anya Schrier of Life is What You Make It.  Everyone knows how talented Anya is,  not only designing cards, but also as a graphic designer.  Anya designed all of the graphics for the challenge blog and is also re-joining the Serendipity Design Team beginning in January.  How lucky are we?  We also have another new Design Team member who will be joining us today...Marybeth Lopez of Marybeth's Time for Paper.   Marybeth designs beautiful cards and you can expect to be totally inspired by her beautiful designs.  I hope you will all leave her a little note of congratulations...she will be fabulous! Every two weeks a new challenge will be posted with lots of inspiration ideas from the Serendipity Design Team members.  And prizes.  Did I mention prizes too?  To have a chance to win all you have to do is make a card or other project using at least one Serendipity image or die, link it on the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog (where you can also get more details about the challenge) and then cross your fingers.  Not only will there be a best card winner (who receives a special badge to display on their blog) , but a "random" winner too! The "kick-off" prize this week is $20 off your next purchase at Serendipity Stamps.  That is a great prize, especially when you take a look at all the beautiful, detailed stamps and dies in the Serendipity store.

Ready to see what the first challenge is all about?  Honeycomb.  I know, I didn't know what it was either other than something sweet made by bees.  It only took a quick Google search to find out that it is something really interesting and very fun to make.  Here is a link to the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers by Lydia Fieldler that I used to make my honeycomb project.
This 9 x 16 framed honeycomb project is now hanging on my craft room wall.  Every time I see it I smile because the colors are so pretty and it was such fun to make using Serendipity Stamps Heart Outline Die.  I used thin cardstock and cut two hearts at a time.  Eleven hearts for each project.  They are folded in half, glued right end to left end and fanned out like an accordion.  I used a glue stick to glue mine together, left it dry for a while and was all ready to finish my project.
I stamped three mats using Serendipity Hug Squeeze Background stamp and glued the hearts to it.   I love red, pink and black together.
Are you ready to give it a try with your own honeycomb project?  Need a little more inspiration before you dive in on your own?  You will want to check out the projects made by my talented Design Team friends.  After you do, I know you are going to want to get out your Serendipity dies and stamps and get to creating.  Remember, all it takes is one image or die from Serendipity to participate.  If you don't have any...Serendipity is having a sale this week, a perfect opportunity for you to buy some great stamps so you will be ready to play along with our next challenge on December 19th.

**Free shipping on all US orders of $10 and up and runs from Dec. 5 - Dec 12, 2012.

Now grab yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy the Serendipity Honeycomb Projects:

The Ribbon Wheel Color Challenge #30

Today is my first time playing along with The Ribbon Wheel and their Color Challenge #30.  I have had strawberries on  my mind for several weeks now and this gorgeous inspiration picture just made my mouth water!
Wouldn't you love to have  a great big piece of this?
Here's the card I made based on those beautiful colors.
I used Authentique paper (Uncommon collection) along with some PTI Fine Linen and Kraft cardstock.  I don't remember where I got the lace, but I wove some yellow and cream bakers twine through the top border in two rows.  It added just a little bit more of the yellow from the inspiration photo.  The gorgeous heart diecut was a gift from my friend Jeanne Jachna of A Kept Life, it's a Serendipity Heart Scroll (Jeanne is on their Design Team) and is so lacy and intricate.  They also sell a solid background for the heart which gives a great contrast.   I also added a few cute flowers that Jeanne sent me.   I also tried to "channel" Jeanne with the bow. Her bows are always so perfect!  It is not my normal style and it kind of got away with me a bit, but sure looks nice and poofy in person.  After I had done all the layering and stitching, I realized I didn't really have a place for the sentiment, so I added a tiny little tag with a PTI Tag-It's #12 sentiment.
That is it for today, I'm getting ready to leave on a vacation and am practically forcing myself to stop crafting long enough to get packed.  Thanks for taking a look!

WMSC#83-Sewing Box Velvet Valentine

Just stopping in today with a card I made for Waltzingmouse Stamp Sketch Challenge #83.  This weeks sketch is by one of Waltzingmouse's Mischief Makers, Jen Cuthbertson.

Isn't this a cute sketch for Valentines Day?  I don't have very many Valentine Waltzingmouse images, but there is a really cute heart in Waltzingmouse Sewing Box Hugs.  I used some black/white patterned paper layered over some red velvet cardstock.  The velvet cardstock is cut using a scalloped nestie and I also used the velvet to cut a heart border with PTI's Heart Border die.  Even though Waltzingmouse Nordic Winter is primarily a holiday set, it does have a great heart border stamp which I used to make a little patterned paper the image is stamped on.  I also stamped a heart image onto some smokey shadow cardstock to add a little more contrast.  here are three tiny heart shaped brads up in the corner and a spellbinder tag in smokey shadow holds the twine bow and sentiment tag from Afternoon Tea Sentiments.    I am very careful how I use my precious velvet cardstock and just have enough for one more card, so I am going to have to ration it unless I can find some more!
