The Waiting Game. I think that is the theme of my life right now in regard to work. I have never spent so much time waiting and trying to get things set up in my life and gotten paid for it. Everything is just behind schedule with these call centers and by the time we really get things rolling it will be finals week and then the students will all be gone for the holidays...then the primaries take place. Oh well. At least I am getting paid for it. So, I had an interesting experience last night. I had been at the office here in the Provo and it was about 5:30, at 6 some BYU Romney enthusiasts were coming to meet me at the office. So I thought I would go and grab something to eat. To my chagrin, I accidentally locked the keys in the office.
So I thought to myself, "what would McGyver do in a situation like this?" Would he call a locksmith, no way. So I thought beyond that. I remembered that one of the windows was open (unlocked) and I also remembered that there was a ladder around back of this little hole in the wall we call the office (great location right next to campus trumped out a nice office). The windows were about 15 feet off the ground on the second floor.
So I found this ladder. Yet it still was about 5 feet plus below the window. I figured since I had been on scaffolding so much lately it wouldn't be a problem. Luckily for me Julie was there to hold the ladder and balance it at the bottom, so I didn't fall off...and well, if that would have happened I wouldn't be writing this sounding so victorious. So I got up there...ended up having to rip the screen off (literally, there was some nice old wood that broke fairly easily) (I know McGyver wouldn't have done that, but let's face it, I am still at amateur McGyver level...maybe one day) smacked the window a couple times and boom I was in there. mission accomplished. I tried the window on the left first, and it was locked. Anyway, pretty cool story huh? Julie happened to have her camera so she documented the whole thing.

So I thought I would let you all rememer how Mcgyver like your little brother/big brother/son/friend/whatever is. The moral of the story...never call a locksmith. There is ALWAYS a way in.

mcgyver would not have ripped the screen but other than that the photos look like they are freeze frames from the actual tv show. great job on the photography julie.
Good move Eli. Good move! If Julie hasn't already been impressed enough this ought to get her. Good thing she was there. It would have been a shame to have missed that and have you describe it. That's never the same.
When are you bringing her out here so we can meet her?
