Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards - apply by Sept. 15th, Juniors!
To participate in the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards you must be:
· A current high school rising senior, graduating in the Spring of 2015
· Planning to enroll in college in 2015-2016
· A citizen or permanent resident of the US
· Of Hispanic/Latino descent (at least one parent)
· Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or 7.5 (on a 10.0 scale)
· Willing to travel at own cost to the awards ceremony in your selected region.
Regional ceremony attendance is absolutely mandatory for students who are selected.
Recipients are selected for their accomplishments in the classroom and community, and for their focus on various categories. Recipients are awarded up to $3,000 in educational grants to be used for their college education or to fund a community service effort. In each of the 10 regions, three students will be honored in various categories including those listed below. The regions include: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, San Jose and Washington, DC. Students from across the USA can apply in the region nearest to their area of residence in an effort to ensure all Latino students have an opportunity for the Youth Awards. If selected, the students only have to attend the awards event to receive their award.
The 2014 Youth Awards categories are:
· Business & Entrepreneurship – Presented by BBVA Compass
· Education - Presented by Southwest Airlines
· Engineering & Mathematics - Presented by ExxonMobil
· Healthcare Science - Presented by CVS Caremark Workforce Initiatives
· Innovation & Technology – Presented by The Entertainment Software Association
Students are also encouraged to join our Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) Network. LOFT is a leadership and workforce development program which connects emerging Latinos to each other, to experts, to resources, to platforms, and career paths in STEM fields, business and finance, education and other fields. for the first African American to walk in space, ExxonMobil
Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships are available to 2014
graduating high school seniors in school districts represented by the Council
of the Great City Schools.
Four
scholarships for two males and two females --- $5,000 each --- will be
awarded to two African American and two Hispanic students on behalf of the
former NASA astronaut, physician and businessman, Dr. Bernard Harris.
Deadline for submissions is April 7, 2014.

AABE FL Scholarships - high school AND collegiate!
The purpose of the AABE-FL Scholarship is to assist African American, Hispanic and Native American students with the cost of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in energy-related fields at an accredited college or university within the state of Florida.
The AABE-FL scholarship rewards high school students throughout the state of Florida who excel in math and science with financial assistance for post-secondary education. In addition, AABE-FL supports scholarship recipients ("AABE scholars") who meet established academic standards throughout their pursuit of a bachelor's degree with recurring scholarships.
Scholarship Application Deadlines:
- AABE Scholars (Collegiate): The 2014 Collegiate Scholarship Application must be postmarked by March 15, 2014.
- High School Students: The 2014 High School Scholarship Application must be postmarked by March 3, 2014.

FAME
Set your sights on a star-studded future by being a participant in FAME (Format for Affecting My Enrollment).
As Florida State College at Jacksonville's longest running pre-college program, FAME strives to prepare students for a success entry into postsecondary life. FAME is designed to give students in grades 10 through 12 activities. These activities range from college preparation checks with guidance counselors for 10th graders to college entrance exam testing for seniors.
The FAME program also provides students and parents an opportunity to meet successful Jacksonville citizens who serve as inspiring examples. Like the College Reach-Out Program (CROP) students, FAME students receive help in setting career goals and discovering their academic potential. If eligible, high school juniors who complete the series of sessions can participate in an expense-free two-week college orientation program at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

RMHC/HACER scholarship program to qualifying high school seniors across the

RMHC/HACER is one of the largest scholarships in the country assisting Hispanic high school students pursuing a college education. Since its inception in 1985, more than $24 million has been awarded in scholarships to Hispanic students to support their college education dreams. The program expanded in 2008 to include four RMHC/HACER National Scholarships of $100,000 to be awarded annually to deserving high school graduates. Scholarships are awarded on a national and regional level. Applications for the 2013-2014 RMHC/HACER National Scholarship will be accepted from October 1st through January 21st, 2014. $1000 Scholarships sponsored by Jacksonville Asian American Alliance
We
would like to announce the availability of four (4) $1000 scholarships to
qualified graduating seniors of Asian descent. The Jacksonville Asian
American Alliance (JAAA), (501c (3)) a nonprofit organization offers annual
scholarships to Asian American high school seniors. The required
qualifications and application are attached for your review. Please encourage
the students to download an application, requirements and instructions for the

to promote educational attainment in Hispanic America, ¡Edúcate, Es El Momento!
(Educate Yourself, The Moment is Now), the leading media company has partnered
with CollegeWeekLiveä to offer a free online
college fair on Thursday, October 11, 2012. The college admissions event, which
will be available at www.eselmomento.com, is part of Univision’s Education
Week and will address the higher education needs of Hispanic students and their
families.
The interactive program, which runs nationwide from 12:00
noon to 10:00 pm ET, will provide free access to expert college admissions
advice through streaming video presentations and live chat with college
representatives. The online college fair addresses higher education topics of
particular importance to Latino families – both students and their parents, who
may not have experience with the college application process and could be
