Wood Lily

The wood lily is probably the most common lily that is native to North America. They prefer lots of sunlight and sandy soil, which is why the sand prairies of Crex Meadows is a good place to find them. I photographed this one at Crex. The bright orange color and cup shape help to attract insects such as butterflies and bees as well as hummingbirds.
