Last Minute Lady Bugz

The Sheer Fabulousness of Golem Studios beads inspired these simple wire-wrapped earrings! They are the most gorgeous beads, hand-painted and so detailed! I dangled some TheaToo hoops below each square pillow bead, and wire wrapped them on brass wire.
Extremely simple but so beautiful and versatile for any season! I can imagine wearing these on the coldest most blustery day in the dead of winter, just to lift my mood!

These are available for sale in my Etsy shop!

Oh yea the earring giveaway from 2 weeks ago!! The winner of the Tin Shabby Chic earrings is:

Safari Stars + Lorelei's Michaels Challenge

Today is the day for Miss Lorelei's latest Michaels Challenge. Below you will see the beads that I had to work with for the challenge. The color palette is unexpected and I think that the fresh green gives a whole new life to these beads.

I did make a few substitutions to the beads that she chose, but it keeps with the same palette. I made these Safari Stars earrings with these great saucer shaped beads tipped on their sides to reveal the cool star shaped pattern.
[Safari Stars]

I think they would look great with this Anthropologie dress called Afternoon Safari. It looks like a breezy outfit fit for the Serengheti for sure. Or a trip to Tar-zhay for some toilet paper and a 1" binder. Whatever.

Be sure to hop on over to Lorelei's blog for the rest of the Michaels challenge participants.

Erin Prais-Hintz invites you to go on a journey of inspiration at her blog Treasures Found :: Inspiration is Everywhere. You can view a gallery of her work at http://www.tesoritrovati.com/ or purchase her popular line of 'Simple Truths' in her Etsy shop.

Catching Dreams

I recently got some new Vintaj Brass Co. components - these are called Stained Glass Windows. But my vision once I got some Labradorite and Amethyst dangling off of them, was dream catchers.  To dress them up I attached some vintage crystal buttons with some linen cording.

I love the pretty purple, gray and blue flash colors in the stones, and imagine they would probably be pretty hanging in a window! :)

These are available in Lorelei's Etsy shop

Fabulous

I apologize for the late post today! I got sucked into some projects that have been at the top of my priority list and I forgot all about the earrings I had planned today! I hope to do them soon, for my next post, hopefully.

These are some danglies that I created this week. I was inspired by an earring design that I saw recently by my friend Gaea Cannaday. She is amazing designer! I made a few modifications to my earrings as far as using leather, and attaching small porcelain beads onto jump rings along the bottoms.

This is a fun summer color palette and the criss-cross glaze around the Joan Miller Porcelain beads adds some extra texture!

These are available in my etsy store.

Tassels

One of the popular trends these days is tassels in jewelry design. The possibilities are endless with beaded tassels, chain tassels, fiber and ribbon tassels. So I decided to create my own tassel design using some colorful waxed linen cording! They can be a stand alone feature of earrings or dangle from beads, and in this case, I thought the brightly colored tassels look great with these Star horn beads.  You can find these earrings for sale in my new webstore.

Hoot

It is safe to say that I am loving life being able to stay home and create on a daily basis. No more offices, fancy dress clothes and aggravations that come along with working outside the home. Although I do miss seeing the art every day at the Museum, it really has been wonderfully rewarding doing what I'm doing. These earrings were inspired by my love of jewelry and my mantra these days: LOVE LIFE
I cut out the copper and Silver sheet, hammered each piece, and oxidized them using liver of sulphur.  I stamped the words on the silver discs. Wire wrapped them with some copper wire and include sweet tiny kite charms from Elaine Ray.

Nothing is more fun than a little window shopping in the wee hours of the morning, so I put together an outfit that you could probably see me wearing if you stopped by my house unannounced.

Candy Hearts

Inspired by the upcoming St. Valentine's holiday, I crafted some sweet earrings with a couple of different elements: Super sweet  ceramic hearts from Elaine Ray, lampwork glass beads from Kelleys Beads, some Tin snippets bead caps, and hand-crafted resin charms from Speaking Your Truth by Mary Jane Dodd. I attached the hearts to these lacy filigrees by Vintaj Brass Co. with linen cording and some sweet pink seed beads.

Gotta love PicMonkey and all of their fun seasonal filters! I had a fun time making the earrings but even more fun doctoring up the photo!

You will find these and other fun earrings at my webstore!

Neutrals

As a designer who is constantly challenging myself using color, this time around I wanted to create something a bit more neutral for the blog today. These delicate dangles feature some beautiful Smoky Quartz beads in a unique squared rectangle shape. I layered these beads with some deep red garnet drops and some tiny freshwater pearls.  I think that these muted tones could be worn with anything and always look great!

Inspired by Lime and Purple

I'm usually inspired by nature but for these earrings Pinterest lead the way. I am constantly seeing wonderful photographs of inspiration there, and saw this beautiful Bedroom in Lime and Purple.
I love all of the different textures- they are classic but romantic just like this room. If you would like to purchase these earrings, they are for sale in my webstore. Thank you for stopping by today!!

VooDoo Daddy

Whimsical skull charms and ceramic hoops stir up a feeling of Louisiana VooDoo. African captives and their knowledge of herbs, poisons, and the ritual creation of charms and amulets, intended to protect oneself or harm others, became key elements of Louisiana Voodoo.  The deep orange glaze on these ceramic hoops is dramatic and the two different skull faces  are perfect in every way. Simple deerskin leather lace is knotted and lend to the rustic feeling of these one of a kind earrings.

I've always been intrigued by the mysteries of voodoo and the stories behind these Voodoo queens. But I do home that watching this stuff on tv is the closest I ever get to experiencing the magic of Louisiana voodoo.

These earrings are not hexed, I promise you. They are available for sale here, at Etsy!

Flight of the Conchords

If you've never seen Flight of the Conchords, you should really take a minute and watch some of the videos on YouTube or Hulu it. It's so funny.  Oh but you're here for the earrings?
I created these using some sweet Jade Scott copper resin charms, copper link chain, and faceted czech glass. I love longer earrings lately, and these seem to go with anything. You can find these for sale in my webshop.

Oh you're curious?? Here's a good laugh for you then! Enjoy!

Inspired by Lily Pads

A recent trip to Maine to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, inspired me to get back into the studio to make these earrings!  Fine Pewter lily pad focals are wire wrapped with some etched Lampwork glass beads and a knotting technique with matte seed beads around wire forms.  Lots of texture and great color for Summer! I imagined myself back at the gardens relaxing at the Meditation Pool. There was nothing quite like it!
You can find these earrings for sale in my webstore!

Floral Hoops

These beaded copper hoops were so fun to create. Shannon of MissFickleMedia crafted these fine hoops for easy embellishments. I added some lampwork glass, tagua nuts, carved bone, chain, carnelian and silver flower drops.
The inspiration behind these earrings came from this sweet floral top from Sundance Catalog. Make a colorful statement with either of these fashionable pretties!

You can find these new earrings at my webstore!

A Feathered Village

These Feathered Village earrings were inspired by a pretty skirt from Anthropologie! I love the pattern on the skirt, a nice olive background with little red flying birds above housetops.  I used some ceramic beads with that same dotted pattern, a few Red Czech glass rondelles and some sweet little pewter bird charms.  The pearl chain gives a little white detail that fits perfectly. Round darkened bronze ear wires add to the overall handmade look.

I put together a whole outfit with a long sleeve t, and some olive suede pumps!

Here is a nice detail of the skirt!

Spotted Earrings

Sometimes there is nothing more inspiring than a Semi-Precious gemstone! Just look at these spotted Jasper beads! The deep browns and grey/purple tones had me at Hello!

When working with a gorgeous stone such as this, crafting earrings that showcases the stone is easy. I just wire wrapped these tear drop shaped beads on silver headpins and and added them to nice curvy silver earwires.

I can see someone donning these earrings with a gorgeous chocolate brown pant suit, and a nice up- do to show them off.

Check out my daily blog and shop my etsy store for more great earring designs.
