2010 Honda VT1300CT Interstate
New fuel injection We gave it a single-pin crankshaft so it feels like a twin should. Naturally it’s a strong V-twin. And the new Interstate has a beauty. The heart of any motorcycle is its engine. Nothing Rides Like a V-twin. The good news is that you have two versions of Statelines to choose from: our standard (and we hesitate to call anything about this machine “standard”) model and an anti-lock brake-equipped Stateline ABS. But guess what? With its head-turning styling and brawny 1312cc V-twin powerplant, one might think that a single Stateline model was plenty to go around.

You’ll no doubt note the family resemblance to its Sabre and Stateline siblings—blacked-out frame, beefy 1312cc liquid-cooled, 52º V-twin, raked-out front end, deep-dish fenders—as well as a few unique features all its own, like floorboards, leather-covered hard saddlebags and a weather-cheating windscreen. Believe it, and while you’re at it say hello to the all-new Honda Interstate. A custom bike boasting bare-bones chopper styling à la Honda’s radical Fury equipped with all the necessities any long-distance touring enthusiast could ask for? Is it too good to be true?

Along with good looks and a big V-twin engine with Honda's Programmed Fuel Injection, the stylish leather-wrapped hard bags offer ample room for a long getaway, with a traditional windscreen and floorboards delivering all-day riding comfort for those extra-long hauls. So for those who enjoy their long rides in high style, Honda introduces the new Interstate. When you're aboard one of the coolest rides around, sometimes you just don't want the ride to end.

Then the Stateline ABS with optional anti-lock Looking for that added peace of mind while riding in less than ideal conditions? Greater Control=Greater Confidence. On the prowl or standing still, the Stateline is something to behold.

All-black frame. Long, deeply valanced, tire-hugging fenders. Raked-out fork. Street Smart Style Pavement-skimming saddle.
Classic in design, but thoroughly modern where it counts—inside—the Stateline’s powerful 1312cc, 52º V-twin engine features fuel injection and three valves per cylinder. Pure V-twin. Pure Power. Pure Style. Then look no further than the Stateline.

See what happens when you build a custom that’s equal parts old school and new. The brawny 1312cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 52º V-twin is a thing of beauty, too, with smooth, maintenance-free shaft final drive putting all that torque and power to the ground with effortless ease. Call it the perfect fusion of traditional and progressive cruiser design, featuring all the classic cues that make the Fury and Sabre so cool, plus a few twists that are decidedly neo-retro, like deep, long fenders. Introducing the 2010 Honda Stateline. Add to that the deep throaty rumble of a big V-twin engine with Honda's Programmed Fuel Injection and that classic big Vee power pulse, and you have a machine that's the perfect choice for cruising--any time you want.

The deeply valanced fenders arc downward in classic retro style, yet the all-new rolling chassis and overall lines bring a fresh look to the class. Featuring long, low lines that embody what cruising is all about, the Stateline blends two worlds of motorcycling style: traditional looks plus progressive elements.

2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Classic

Like the systems in use on the Ninja 650R and Vulcan 900 motorcycles, the 1700 Classic’s fuel injection uses one sensor in The system offers a natural throttle feel, because the APS is activated by a throttle body pulley that’s connected by cables to the throttle grip. Both units feed data to the ECU, which adjusts the throttle plates to tailor intake airflow accordingly. The system utilizes an Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) and a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

Working with a powerful ECU and the rest of the fuel injection system, the electronic throttle valve enhances response without detracting from its distinctive V-twin feel--delivering ultra-precise intake flow to the engine under nearly any conditions. Kawasaki’s fully electronic throttle valve system feeds that big V-twin exactly what it needs. The engine’s long-stroke design, high compression and large displacement produce massive amounts of quick-revving torque, all of it delivered with a distinct V-twin character. The Vulcan 1700 Classic V-twin uses a single overhead cam in each cylinder head, rather than a push-rod overhead-valve arrangement, to boost efficiency and provide quick acceleration and superior passing performance.

Witness Exhibit A: The Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Classic combines things like the latest electronic throttle technology feeding a visceral overhead-cam V-twin, with a dose of old-fashioned cruiser simplicity that lets the rider focus on the experience and not the machine, mile after reliable mile. As a matter of fact, just the opposite. Retro and Techno come together to create one Timeless Cruiser At Kawasaki, we don’t believe classic looks and high technology need to be mutually exclusive.

Working with the rest of the fuel injection system, the electronic throttle valve enhances the Yet more unique technology is found in Kawasaki’s fully electronic throttle valve system. (Unlike the Concours 14 ABS, however, only a single K-ACT mode is available.) K-ACT’s coactive function does not engage when braking is initiated at speeds below 12 mph, and the ABS function is automatically disengaged at speeds below four mph. Basically, the front lever also activates the rear brake, and the rear pedal also engages the right front caliper: K-ACT sees to it that that happens seamlessly and efficiently, and the new, second-generation system uses the same smaller, lighter ABS unit and the faster, higher-spec brake ECU found on the Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS motorcycle for even smoother, more precise operation. Available on the ABS-equipped Voyager, K-ACT uses advanced electronics to translate the rider’s braking inputs into both the front lever and rear pedal into smooth, balanced deceleration and maximum stopping performance.

For 2010, the Vulcan Voyager ABS’s complement of cutting-edge electronics is headlined by a new, second-generation version of the Kawasaki Advanced Coactive Braking Technology (K-ACT) system. Built for the touring rider who has to have it all—and look good having it… Flagship of the Vulcan 1700 family, the Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager and Voyager ABS come equipped with everything the serious touring rider needs to pile on the miles in comfort and style: a large frame-mounted fairing, amazing storage capacity, a sculpted touring seat, electronic cruise control, a premium sound system and a powerful long-stroke 1700cc, liquid-cooled, 52° V-Twin engine.

Wheel The KLX250SF’s fully-adjustable suspension features 16-way adjustable compression and rebound damping on both the 43mm inverted cartridge-style front fork and the UNI-TRAK rear suspension. At the same time, the suspension is still supple enough to soak up most road surface irregularities and offer a smooth ride. These changes provide a reduction in pitching motions during braking and acceleration, and help the rider hold a consistent line during aggressive on-road cornering. The change in setup offers a firmer ride than the 250S, thanks to a change in front fork oil level and revised damping settings for both the fork and shock.

This also results in a more planted feel in corners and a lower seat height. Compared to the KLX250S dual sport, the KLX250SF has reduced wheel travel at both ends, placing the center of gravity lower for improved on-road handling and enhanced straight-line stability. Few motorcycles — of any size or price — are capable of out-cornering it. It’s “just” a 250, but its light weight of just 302 pounds means the KLX250SF packs the sort of performance you’d expect from something bigger and more expensive. Based on Kawasaki’s critically acclaimed KLX250S dual sport on/off-road bike, the SF dials up maximum on-road fun with sticky street radials mounted on 17-inch wheels, a shorter seat height, a bit less suspension travel and a big front brake.

Sticky Street Rubber Meets Lightweight Dual-Sport; Big Fun Can’t Be Far Behind Type “big fun in a small package” into your internet search and it might take you straight to the Kawasaki KLX™250SF supermoto.
