Listen to this week's podcast of The Sanity Squad at Pajamas Media Politics Central.
The Squad tears apart the conclusions of an article in this month’s Psychology Today that purports to describe what goes into the making of liberals and conservatives, and the motivations behind those who changed their affiliation after 9/11 . The article asserts in short, that conservatives are fearful, and liberals rational. And if you suppose that Siggy, Neo, Shrink and I are going to let that slip by without a having a lot to say, then you don't know your favorite four mental health professionals!
In fact, we can't help writing about the topic too, as both Shrink it as eI have posts up on the very same topic, and Neo was actually interviewed for the article--but for some strange reason, the author didn't choose to include her comments or expertise (see here to begin reading her excellent series , "The Mind is a Difficult Thing To Change").
In addition to debunking some of the major points of this kind of mushy, agendized social "science" research, we manage to make our opinions known on the difference between headlights and lamps; epiphanies, ambiguity, tipping points, and political paranoia.
Will you listen or stand paralyzed with indecision and blinded by the light, waiting for the oncoming disaster to strike? They're coming to take you away, ha ha--unless you shake off that stupor, and tune in to the fab four!
Join Siggy , Neo-neocon , Shrinkwrapped, and me as we opine, analyze, and free associate in the latest podcast!

And yes, we really do look like the people in the picture.
