NOW we can get wet...

(This was a few weeks back... lest I give you false hopes about warm weather here, although it has been this amazing room temperature lately, minus the rainy day today.)

But regardless of the current forecast....
We made it back to the fun park WITH swim suits and WITH bread crumbs for the ducks.
A fun family day, indeed.

We even changed our clothes and races back for a picnic.

But some among us were not truly happy until they got to feed the ducks.
Which was thrilling- they were very friendly creatures. :)
Do you think it's time for me to unplug?  I was busy instagraming the moment, and didn't even realize Doug had put bread on my shoulder. :) Darn that distracting technology!

And ready to leap on to new adventures. :)

That Troublesome Boy...

We found a lovely park for a Sunday afternoon.  It was quite relaxing and peaceful...

...until the kids found the geese...

...and chased those poor birds all over creation!

And until they found the waterfall/HUMONGOUS geyser fountain. (It was seriously just like old faithful!  It was amazing!)

The whole experience brought to mind poor Rikki-tikki-tembo-no-sa-rembo-chari-bari-ruchi-pit-perri-pembo. :)

They played near the fountain.

The played around the fountain.

The played in the fountain.

And eventually...
...they got as wet as we would allow on a Sabbath.

Taking kids to a fountain and telling them not to get wet was pure foolishness on our part. :)
It was after we realized this, that we decided this probably wasn't the best place to come on a Sunday.  However, it was still a lovely Sunday, and a super fun park and we committed to coming back soon...

...with swim suits...

And breadcrumbs {instead of pine-cones} to throw to the ducks. :)

Eureka!!!

We found it!  A really cool place to spend the day!  The kids did the summer reading program and we cashed in on their free pass prize to the Discover Center.  I could easily go back... we spent an entire afternoon there and there was still so much more to see.  It was a really cool place.  The kids (young and old :) had a ball! (I think it was just as much fun for Doug and I... and that is my favorite kind of family activity.

They had this incredible little mini grocery store stocked with EVERYTHING.  It was facilitating to see who naturally assumed the different roles.

As you can imagine, Amberlee spent her time stocking and organizing shelves.  She played the part of store manager. (Basically alone too.  No one else seemed to want to assist in her overwhelming task. :)

Autumn horded all the money from everyone and easily slipped into the role of shop-a-holic, filling shopping cards faster than Amerlee could stock the shelves.

Seth made a good checker/bagger boy.  He liked to make sure everything "beeped" and was properly paid for.

Brigham added an element of chaos and excitement by playing the part of local thief, as he ran around steeling carts or items from other's carts, trying to slip out undetected.  Sly guy.

As you might be able to tell, Doug and I had a fun time observing them. :)

It was all quite exhausting... :)

...So we also cashed in on their "free kid's meal at Sizzler" library prize that night to relax and refill the tank.
But there were some among us too tired to enjoy it.  Poor Seth passed out in the first five minutes (and wouldn't wake) and didn't eat a bite.
Just too much excitement for one day, I suppose. :)
