Rainy and Quilting

Hello sweet friends.
I have missed y'all, hope everyone is doing
ok?

Woke up this morning to the wonderful sound
of rain and after is was over there was cool air.
Sew I opened the windows and let the breeze in.
It was wonderful.  This is not normal weather
for this area in Texas.  We have been melting
down here.  lol!

The news about my fabric shop is that I finally
.  closed it, officially today.  It has been a fun
7 years, but it is time to move on.  I have been
busy quilting for customers, and loving every
minute of it.
If you are interested in having me quilt for
you, up under my logo to the far right you can
find the information about my quilting under
Long Arm Pricing.

Here are just a few quilts I have done recently.

The next three quilts belong to Carla Kennedy
(aka) Hurricane Carla lol!
I quilted this one using Spin.

This was a fun patchwork.  I had to take
the yoyo off to quilt it.  But sewing it back
on made me want to make some yoyo's.
I think yoyo quilts are awesome.
This one was quilted using Cherry Blossom.

Carla K made this one for a little boy as a baby quilt.
This girl makes tons of baby quilts.  There are some
lucky recipient's out there that will have a quilt to
cherish forever.  The quilting for this is Deer In The Woods.

I had to keep this quilt a secret.  This
was a graduation gift for a customer's
granddaughter.  Customer's make the
most amazing quilts.  It is sew much fun
to see them all and pleasure to quilt them.
Lorien's Sweet Pea is what I used to quilt
this one.

Hope y'all have a wonderful week.

Hugs,
donna

Retreat Fun In Durango Colorado

Happy Monday sweet friends!!

I know I have not been around blogging much,
that is because I am mostly on Instagram.  If you
are Instagram look me up donnaslavendernest.

(Kim, donna, Lauren)

I had a great opportunity to go to Durango and go
on a quilt retreat.  I had not meet Kim, but we had
talked on the phone sew much I felt like I had known
her for years.  Kim has been in my online sewing bee
Sew Sweet Bee for like 3 three years and this is
Lauren's first year.  I flew into Albuquerque where Kim
picked me up at the airport.  The first night we meet
Lauren for dinner.  These two ladies are a hoot and
sew much fun.  We laughed sew much tears ran down
our legs.

The next day Kim and I drove to Durango and
this is where we stayed.  The Strater was built
in 1887.  While it has been remolded there are
still some original components from 1887.  We
found it to be very cool.   (but not haunted)

This is the room we sewed in.  It was down stairs
and we where told this room used to be filled with
silver back in the day.  How cool is that?

I almost finished my Texas flag quilt, but since I
miss cut I needed more fabric.  When I can
take a better picture of it I will show you.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day.

Love and Hugs,
donna

1930's Reproduction Fabric by P&B Textiles for Washington Street Studio

Hello sweet Friends!!
Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy and
getting to do something you love.

P&B Textiles sent me these super cute
1930's Reproduction prints by
Washington Street Studio to play with.
They have been sew much fun.

 I didn't use a pattern
 I sewed 3 strips 2 1/2 x 6 1/2
together and for the other block I  sewed
3 2 1/2 inch squares together and sewed
a 6 1/2 inch strip to the side and then rotated them
around.

I am just waiting on the rest of the fabric to
get here sew I can add boarders and get her
quilted.

I also bought some fat quarter bundles for you to purchase.  You can
go here to purchase.  And by looking at the pictures I left one out.
"Sigh"

An Anniversary and Sewing Going Ons

Hello sweet quilty friends!

This week my sweet hubby and I will be married
35 years!!  As most couples, we have been through
many ups and downs but through think and thin he
has always been my BEST Friend.

I have been stitching up some of my vintage linen's
into a quilt.

(sorry for the bad picture)

This is what I had sew far.  Since I took this picture
I took the big basket off.  After looking at it for a
few days I just did not like it.  I think I like the smaller
motif's better?

I am not really following a pattern, sew there has been
some challenges.  Math is not my strong suite, but I am
working it out. lol!!

PandB Textiles sent me this fat quarter pack of
1930's Toy Box Miniature's by Washington Street.

This is what I have sewn sew far.  I am sew in love with
these prints and it is sew much fun to sew.

This is another no pattern but is is easy peasy.
No thinking. lol!!

Here is how you do it.

Sew 3 2 1/2 x 6 1/2 strips together.

Sew 3 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch squares together, on the
side of the 2 1/2 inch squares sew 1 2 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch strip.

Now you have 2 different blocks.

All you need to do is rotate them in opposite directions.

If you would like a fat quarter bundle they are listed
on my Instagram page.  I have 2 left.

Hope you have a wonderful week.

Love and Hugs

An Almost Finish

Happy Hump Day Sweet Friends!!

I know it is supposed to be winter out there, but
here in Texas is like a beautiful Spring Day.
Wish we could get some snow.

I have had this quilt in my sewing closet since like
2013ish?  The line is Farm Hill by Brenda Riddle,
back when she designed for Lecien.

Some of the blocks where made, I just had to make
8 more and sew it all together.
I used a pattern out of one of Darlene Zimmerman's
books fresh from the clothesline.  If you have this book
it is on page 92 Milady's Fans.

You can see the fan's a little better in this picture.
I quilted it using Moulin Rouge.

All I have left to do is the binding.  Since I do not
have much of the fabric left I thought I would
make a scrappy binding.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day
and getting to do something you love.

Hugs

Quilty Finish

Hello sweet friends!

Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas?
2018 has gone by sew fast, I want to try and
slow down 2019 and smell the roses.

I started this quilt in 2013, Lori Holt did a
tutorial on her blog.
Bee In My Bonnet her is the link to the blocks.
Her blog is full of inspiration.
Just scrolling through trying to find the barn
links makes me want to make sew many things.
lol!

I have been cleaning and organizing.
This was part of the way done, everything was
cut out and folded laying in a bowl on the bottom
of my sewing closet.  All I had to do is make 8 more
blocks and sew the rows together and add the
boarders.
This is a line called Farm Hill by Brenda Riddle.
(when you designed for Lecien)  I am thinking from
2013ish.  The pattern is in one of Darlene Zimmerman's
books fresh from the clothesline.
The boarders are on now all I have to do is quilt it.

Wishing y'all Blessings and Happiness in the New Year.

Hugs
