Food art
I'm sure by now everyone knows how much I 'love' food. Almost my every 10th post is on food :)
Remember a post where I had posted some pictures of artistic lunch boxes? No? Then go here and have a dekho.
And today I found some more of such artistic lunch boxes picture! I find them so cute and lovely that it would be so hard to actually eat them :D
Take a look at some of the pictures here and tell me will you be able to eat these cute lunches?

So artistic and so cute. Aren't they? Wanna see more? Go here.

A night out for us after 6 years
After we left Betu at his cousins place for his first sleepover we didn't know what to do with this 'alone' time in our hands. After calling up a few times to see how he is doing, we knew that he will be just fine. So after a lot of dallying we decided to hit a disc nearby in case we need to go back to pick him up in case he realises he can't stay without us. But nothing of that sort happened :)
So off we went to the 'Capitol' in "The Ashok" and had a wonderful time. The moment we reached there I thought we really shouldn't have come. I felt so out of the crowd. All these girls were dressed in such sexy outfits and here I was in my chappals and Capri. I didn't even have a lipstick in my bag to apply on my lips so that at least I have something on in the name of makeup. I was kind of shocked to see what revealing clothes these girls wear these days. I may sound like an old aunt but its true. Almost all of them were wearing really really mini shoulder less dresses. Being thin or fat didn't really matter to them. And out of 50 maybe just one would be wearing a jeans. but again with 'leaving-nothing-to-imagination" kind of tops.
Anyhow, after feeling awkward and a total misfit for a while, I just ignored that I was not aptly dressed for being in there. We both had a martini each before hitting the dance floor. Danced a little but when the people on the floor decided to increase so much that we were barely even moving our feet we decided to sit and ordered for long island iced tea. The music was good but I didn't like when the DJ continually played some Hindi numbers including the 'sapera' music.
Finally we decided to get out of the disc around 1:30 AM and just sat in the lounge and chit chatted. It really felt wonderful having so much free time on our hands just for us.

A day at Adventure Island
We all, Myself, Hubby, Betu, Appa, my elder sister PG, her Hubby and Rishab went to spend a day at the Adventure Island, near Rithala Metro station on Friday, March 21, 2008. And we enjoyed every bit of our time there. Since it was exams time, there was no rush, and we could easily get on the rides without waiting in the queue and even take more than one rounds of a ride.
The tickets were Rs 375 or adults and Rs 300 for kids (criteria was height measurement: chargeable for 3ft or taller kids). The only negative thing was that we had to buy a ticket for Betu but out of 16 rides there, he was allowed only on 5 or so. On the rest they had the minimum height criteria for which obviously Betu didn't qualify then why the hell did they charge almost a full ticket for him??
Anirudh and Rishab had so much fun that they didn't want to come back despite the fac that they were so tired and drained out. PG and I went on a ride which was good but also a little scary. When it upturned and twisted and rolled us around, for a moment it felt we are going to fall off right from there. We both were continuously laughing and shrieking at the same time!
Here are a few pics of the car rides that Anirudh and Rishab did. One of them was strictly for kids only so Anirudh became the driver and Rishab the passenger. They had a foot button in this car which would give motion to the car and he was supposed to steer it using the wheel. It took Anirudh couple of minutes to figure out how to run it good and then he started to enjoy.

And this is the car where adults could also ride on. It used to swivel and rotate at the same time. And at times it would seem that the cars are going to collide with each other. It sure was a lot of fun for kids and they went for 2-3 rounds om this one.

How cool is that?
Specially for kumbhakran's like me! A nap pod!! :P
Here is a pic of Google's nap pod. "An employee takes a nap in a nap pod which blocks out light and sound at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California."

Don't you all think this should be available at all offices? Ok ok..that was quite a ear breaking chorus of "Yays!" :D

What's my name's hidden meaning?
![]() You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals. You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start. You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row. You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace. People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality. You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out. Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia. Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person. You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated. You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want. You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way! You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble. You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality. You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is. |
My take on this: Lot of things it says about me is true. The people close to me will agree on this.

A vase made by bees!!
The actual vase is even more astonishing than the title that you just read. Although there is human intervention involved but still I find it so amusing. Look at it...

Now isn't that so amazing!!!?? Read more about it here.

Aww..such cute backpacks!!
I definitely want to buy one of these backpacks for Betu if these kinds are available here in India.
If I make a guess, I think he will either go for a frog or a penguin. I will test my guess by asking him his choice when I see him in the evening. :D

This is such a cool lamp!!
Hanabi (fireworks party) is the name of this beautiful lamp, by Japanese designer Endo. Closed when cold, and with petals opened when it becomes hotter due to the light bulb's temperature.

What a wonderful and beautiful idea. Isn't it??

So very interesting...aren't they?
On Off Mug
This clever mug automatically displays “OFF” when it is empty and ‘ON” when it is filled with coffee or tea. It is covered with a heat sensitive pigment which allows it to change from black to white or vice versa depending on whether it is filled or not.
I so want to have this mug!!
Oeuf Squeeze-Me Mittens
These adult-sized mittens have a kid-sized mitten-shaped pocket, allowing for easy handholding during cold-weather walks. Made from 100% baby alpaca wool.
But gosh man!! They are damn expensive for $52.00!!

The encounters!
Every now and then we meet people and they say or do something which either leaves you aghast or laughing inside as out of courtesies you cannot laugh as such. I just remembered a few from the past today:
Incident 1:
Not so long ago I was taking out some relatives for some outing. From my rear view mirror I saw the one sitting in the back seat rolling down the window and trying to throw the tissue outside. I immediately said "Mujhe de dijiye, main dustbin mein daal deti hoon" (Give it to me, I will throw it in hte dustbin) but I was too late and the tissue was thrown out before I could have made myself heard. But the funny part was the comment from that person "Yahan par mana karte hain bahar fainkne se?" (Is not not allowed to throw here). I literally rolled my eyes thinking aren't we old enough to know that we are not supposed to litter around?
Incident 2:
Looking at one of the home tuition inserts in the newspapers today morning reminded me of my accounts tutor in my 12th standard in Calcutta. I still remember my first day there so very clearly and have a hearty laugh thinking about it even now. My tutor, Mr. Ghosh Dastidaar, was an old fellow and had a squint. It had been just a few minutes into the tuition on the first day and he asked as question. I was sitting in the front with a few people sitting behind me. I was so confused if he was asking me or someone at the back. Somehow in the confusion I looked back and then looked in the front again towards the tutor. Suddenly I see him, pointing his finger at me saying "I'm talking to you!!" with a stern voice.
I remember getting a bit nervous then but now I find the whole incident so funny :D
Incident 3:
I was in college then. It must have been the year 1994 or 1995. I don't remember exactly. We went to watch the movie 'Cliffhanger' starring ooh-so-sexy Sylvester Stallone then at Chanakya Cinema hall. It was among the only 2 movie theaters who used to show English movies too here in Delhi. So a group of 7-8 friends went to watch the movie after college. As the movie started, we could hear someone translating the dialogs in Hindi and telling it to someone. For a few minutes we just ignored it but after 10 mins it got really irritating and we turned around to find a couple sitting right behind us and it was the guy who was translating the movie to his wife in Hindi. It was obvious she didn't understand English and they looked newly married kinds. We turned back in our seats without saying a word thinking not to spoil their together-moments but after another 10 mins we were not able to enjoy the movie because of their not-so-translation-whisperings. So we finally turned to them and told us the problem and since the theater had a some empty seats around we asked them to move there :D
It was a sweet gesture on the guy's part to try to make his wife enjoy the movie but then I fell they really should have gone to watch a Hindi movie to really spend some good together-moment! Right?

These funny things!
Every now and then I come across such funny/interesting things over the internet that I just can't resist sharing it with you all. And here are 2 of them that I chanced upon recently -
Barefoot Sneakers?? Helluva Funny!
I would definitely like to wear these funny looking sneakers and watch the expressions of others! Hehehe..
Interestingly shaped decanter!
Did you think these were decanters in the first place? Aren't they so amusing? The moment I saw this I was running a list of things I can use this to store in.

Dancing shoes for a parent and child!
The first words that crossed my mind when I saw the picture of dancing shoes for a parent and a child were "WOW! What an idea!"

Isn't this such a wonderful idea? I would have loved to have them when Anirudh was younger! Definitely not now unless I go completely insane and really want to break my toes! :D
Aren't these so very cute? I just keep looking at them and going "Awww!" But man, are they expensive? Euro 80 for a pair!! Phew! The producers made sure its not just the shoes that are mind boggling but the price too!

A two colored elephant?
Is it an elephant who has two colors of skin? Or is it the work of some graphic artist who used some imaging tool to create this effect?Well, its none of that :D This effect was created naturally. "How?" one may ask. In fact you SHOULD ask. The answer is quite simple. Do you see the blue water body behind the elephant? This effect on the elephant was created by the water :)
Amazing. Isn't it? Did you ever think it was a half wet elephant who has just come out of a lake/river after having a nice dip in it? :D
