5 Apr: We built a playground!
On Saturday, we had a pioneering session in school. But this time round, it was a little more special because we invited external YAs to join in the fun! We were split into 3 groups to build a See-Saw, Slide and Kim’s Gym respectively. With the three structures, we built our own playground! :)

Although it rained in the morning, it did not dampen our mood. We carried out the activity at the open space outside our library, and it was as fun as it would be if it were to be carried out in the field. Before the actual building, we revised our lashes and also shared with our fellow YAs on some of the “tips” we usually used to tie our structures.

It was really fun; especially when we finished tying the structures as we started to interact more with each other while trying out the structures we built. After we built our playground, we get to play with the structures we built. We were all really proud of our structures and we took a lot of photos with them.

This pioneering session was different from the previous ones we had; probably because of the new addition of external YAs. Through this session, we have made new friends and exchanged lashing skills with the external YAs. I would not have minded if there was another session like this!

| DHS YAs who went for kayaking! |
On the 11 of January, a few of our YAs took part in the YABC kayaking activity held at Pandan Reservoir! We had a briefing conducted by our instructors, Diane and Alvin, before we set out in our double kayaks. The instructors taught us a few paddling techniques and we were given time to kayak around the reservoir. After that, the instructors decided to play a "water splashing game", whereby YAs from Dunman High have to compete with YAs from YABC to see which team is able to splash more water on the other team. Afterwards, we rafted up and the instructors decided to make us stand on our kayaks and make some YAs swap their kayaks. Through this activity, we learnt the importance of trust. Without trust, we won't be able to stand on the kayak, let alone swap kayaks. Through this kayaking activity, we got to know the other YAs better and everyone got a nice tan ;).

After kayaking, we headed to HQ for the YA car washing initiative. The aim of this initiative is to raise funds, so that GGS would be able to sponsor coupons, for our GGS carnival later this year, for underprivileged children. For some of us, it is our first time washing a car and it was not as easy as it seems.

But nonetheless, it was rewarding to see shiny cars at the HQ carpark at the end of the day. Similarly, we got more bonding time with the YAs from other chapters :)
