This is the Tinie Tempah record I mentioned. I don't like Auto-Tune as you know, but it works on this song and the beat, the flow, the murkage. Shit is so hard.

Good to be back

I appreciate all the comments, messages and emails you've been sending me. I also appreciate those who have posted the song, especially Akira who has a mixtape/T-Shirt coming out in 2 days. I now have to decide what song to give away next...I've got some "Songs" but I also have a thing I produced pretty much. That will be on the mixtape definitely. I wouldn't say I produced it but Jack says I did and I guess I did. It's my first original production. I did all the production and arrangements on 'Beware of the Voices' on my last tape which is where I got the bug for controlling the record front-to-back but that was Ice Cube's beat originally, he got jacked. How do you like that Cube? You got Cube'd!

Anyway, I doubt that's the song I'm going to be giving you next week. I've got a load of options. I should probably ask you guys but I don't want to spoil anything. It's going to be a banger though. Something with a more traditional arrangement than 'Loose Change' which was just...an amount of bars formed into one huge long verse while Jack brought in crazy synths, guitars, drums and what-not, building into a crescendo, an explosion, a cliff...which of course manifested itself in the word "Bitch". That's my style. Writers love to take their words and throw them off a cliff like that. Into the lake, after hitting a few rocks on the way down. "Bitch".

So it's my birthday tomorrow. I'm, years old. I'll tell you next year. To celebrate I am going to take Thursday off and spend time with my family. Woo. Then on Friday I'm going to see Avatar with Jack. I hear it's great. I'm not so into lanky blue guys talking for 3 hours but I can't ignore everybody who comes up to me and slaps me for not having seen it any longer. If I hate it I'm never trusting people ever again. I'm going to make an album about how Avatar made me stop trusting. Then I'm going to kick James Cameron in the nuts for stealing another 3 hours of my life. I'm, years old now. I can't waste that shit. Then on Saturday I'm going to get drunk with my niggas. I don't know where yet. But drunk is the important thing. Then on Sunday I'm doing straight, non-stop, unadulterated recording. Oh yeah. I've got many songs ready to go, Jack had to pick up some new studio elements this week and we're going to bang out some hits.

That's about it. I was given Hadouken's new album on Sunday, I haven't given it a proper listen but James is my boy from Leeds '06. God damn '06. That's 4 years ago now. Crazy.

Example is number 6 in the charts everybody. Number flipping 6. He'll be number 1 in the summer. He works so hard. We're all so proud of him. It's only when you look at the chart and see who he's ahead of that you realise just what an incredible job he's done. Keep going Ell.

Okay. That's me for now. I've run out of things to say. BE GONE!

Also buy Example's new single 'Won't Go Quietly'

Because he's my boy and he's as real as they get. He's going to chart top 10 with this single because he worked his arse off and he fucking deserves it.

Shout outs to Boyzone

On tour we'd use the breakdown on 'Boyspot' to sing a random Boyzone song; usually 'Don't Love Me For Fun' since we reference them on the chorus. Rest in peace Stephen Gately, I can't say how much input he had into said classic number [I don't care to research it either] but this is in memory of him.

Marvin/ Boyspot [Spotify link]

BONUS: A performance of 'Boyspot' in Hartlepool with Example. Bad example for the most part because Tego was filling in as DJ so wasn't acting as hype man, therefore the 'Don't Love Me For Fun' was never started. Probably the only time we didn't do it though.

Example video

My white brother from a white mother is filming a video in Brixton in a couple of weeks and you know he needed to holla at me for the shoot. I'm not actually 100% on what the song he's shooting for is? Is it 'Girl Can't Dance'? Not sure. I know it's a party at Dogstar though, I'd have been there cameras or no.

MIXTAPE: Example- The Credit Munch

My dude Example is BACK! Like Chris Brown's hand word to Rihanna. He's gone electro ta'bumba on a brand new mixtape 'The Credit Munch' and shit goes so hard. You already know E's got those fundamentals down so you give him any kind of production and he's gonna kill it. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll bang your head and that's just track 1.

Dude separated his mixtape into rooms [GENIUS] 'Electro', 'Dirty Ravers' and 'Garage/Dubstep/DnB'. He told me a couple of months ago that he was going to give the tape away for free but a lot of people say that until they listen to it back and go "You know what? I'd buy this!" before slapping £5 sticker on it and throwing it on Paypal. Elliot's a man of his word though and the tape is free from his MySpace. Tracklisting and link below...

2. ‘I Don’t Want To’ (Jack Beats Remix)

Brighton calling

Example phoned me yesterday to ask if I wanted to support him on a couple of dates this week. I couldn't do Southampton on Friday, even though I love Southampton, last time I was there was with Lethal and Skinnyman and it pretty much went down. Although my boy Steven lost the microphone to his camera that day and I'm pretty sure Jack lost his digital camera (the early part of any tour is quite discombobulating). Anyway, I did say I'd help Example out in Brighton on Sunday at Audio, which is a +16 gig. They're always great. If you're in the Brighton area there are a few tickets on the door I'm told.

VIDEO: Live in Leicester [7/3/08]

I just came across this on Youtube. I think Example's doing Sumo again next month. This was a pretty cool gig. Also found on Youtube; 'Get By (Be Good)' and 'Superhero' uploaded to Universal's Youtube page, but by the looks of it, they've gone and ripped the clips from Youtube. Lord knows why?

Goldielocks + Me > Example + Defury

Don't believe the rumours! South-London ran tings last night on D:U:M Radio. Me and Goldielocks spit some nasty, nasty bars, Black Cherry were on some biased ting because true Defury's their boy from way back and true his bars made sense they were like "Nah they won!" but you know how South-London does; me and Goldie robbed them all, took Example's Red Bull and everything.

Good times though. They should give more amateurs radio shows, I say "They" I don't know "They" are all I know is me and Goldielocks repped.

Diesel U-Music Radio tonight from 10PM

As I've said before. I am on Diesel U-Music Radio tonight on Black Cherry's show with Example and Goldielocks. I just found out there's a live webcam where you can watch the show unfold. Right now I'm watching Hot Chip, they're playing bangers actually, I don't know what this reggae/funky/grime thing is but it's nice.

Hello Manchester!

Usher called out Manchester on stage in Kent. I feel for you Usher, I did that one time, it was slightly different though, I was in Leicester and there were some people from Mancester in the front row so I shouted out my Manchester crew, I got a boo, I'm not going to lie. It was all in jest though.

I got no boos in Hartlepool. I did a weird set, Jack got sick in the morning so I had to use a stand-in live set-up which consisted of Tego DJ'ing (old school) and Ben Official hyping and doing backing vocals, we ran through the set, with 'Boyspot' getting a wheel up (it was about to go crazy in there), I'll try and get that live footage up on the Youtube this week. Shout outs to Hartlepool though, we had fun, we had a Megadrive backstage but the pads didn't work so well, I wanted to play Streets of Rage. Example killed though, he wanted me to go up for 'Turn Me Up' but I was so fucked from jumping around I didn't have the energy and I probably would have flopped.

Norwich Last Night

Photos taken by my boy David R. Gray. I wanted to post his MySpace but I can't find it. I'll link it when I have it.

Last night went off. I had a great time. Sun was shining all day, the sandwiches were out, we had a new live travel crew (Ben and Tiago) and we were on our way to Norwich (beautiful Norwich). I can't stress enough that the sun was out. I think the weather may be fucking with us and this is actually the summer right here. It's gonna rain next month, the month after that and the month after that, don't trust it, get out there now and enjoy the sun while it's here. Norwich Arts Centre is a great venue, we were treated well, Example and the gang were in fine spirits (Rum), we played the "Guess that 90s Number 1 Game" all was excellent. The performance went off. We didn't actually get to rehearse that set at all, you may have noticed actually, we had a debut track in the set too. We wanted two but in soundcheck it really looked like that wasn't going to happen. I'm sorry we didn't have Stay off The Kane for the people that requested it. We haven't done that song in like 2 years, maybe we should bring it back? Maybe...everybody that was there will know what I'm talking about when I say "Boyspot" good lord. 'Boyspot' went nuts. Tego started singing "Don't love me for fun girl..." at the end. Not sure how many people caught that. You were all skanking and moshing like nutters, the good kind.

Norwich I will be back soon. Hartlepool. You are next.
