Ran into these idiots today

Dropping off a bill at the Post Office I ran into these idiots. They had a sign with "Save NASA" with a photo of Obama with Hitler mustache and "Impeach Obama". I told them that, " You're f***ing idiots." "You need to take a civics class". They looked at me like your dog looks at you when you scold them, cocked heads and blank stares. Come to find out they're part of that Lyndon LaRouche group of nut jobs. But I forgot they don't teach civics anymore in school.
What a lot of these groups fail to realize is that it's so easy to fact check and get the backgrounds on just about any subject in less than a second. Also that there is a record somewhere on the inertubes of what they said in the past. As for LaRouche I won't go there because he's so strange you couldn't make up his life and presidential runs if you took Xanax and drank a bottle of Jack.

Britain Has No Balls!

Ed Balls will not be head of British government. They've installed David Cameron of the Conservative Party. To me it looks like the three stooges running the country. Darn no Balls to joke about and I was so ready. I'm not totally up on my British politics but Nick Clegg brokering a deal, I think this would be like Pelosi and DeMint forming a coalition government. Yea that would get far wouldn't it?

Then there was that circular firing squad of BP Transocean and Haliburton. If ever there was a display of the three stooges doing the Shaggy defense this would be it. Next we'll hear the Twinky defense I'm sure. They blamed everybody but their mothers and grandparents for this disaster but maybe they're saving that defense for later. Maybe we could just borrow Mr. Balls from Britain because we sure need some in this situation. Here you have regulators who won't regulate (remember these fine people were caught just a few years ago having wild orgies with some BP reps). Oh, and remember that these were the Bush flunkies who said everything was just peachy because you know when Cheney makes energy policy with the oil companies behind closed doors with nothing recorded then it must be okay. You have companies that won't take responsibility for their actions and expect to dump the whole thing on the taxpayer. Great, I should start a large corp. and get to keep all the profits with no risk of loss. And not one of these clowns will land up in jail you just know it because that's the way things work.

Here's the buttwipe who called Obama a liar

Joe Wilson rep. from South Carolina
They need to have the EPA go down to South Carolina and test the water because there sure growing a bunch of idiots there. First it was their governor the philanderer Mark Sanford Mr. Morality who thinks everybody who who has an affair should resign except him. This is even after 60 of his fellow republican state legislators have asked him to resign. Then there's the liutenant governor another moral holier than thou republican who turns out to be a closet queen.
Now we have Joe Wilson who during Obama's speech last night points his finger and calls Obama a liar when Obama mentioned a lie from the right, that there will be no federal health care in the plan for illegal aliens. I only recall a few geers during a Bush speech and a standing ovation when he said he couldn't get his hands on social security but no body interupted his speech.
Now for the kicker. In trying to find a photo of this clown I find his wiki page is down for repairs and his own web page won't load and is down. Ya think maybe people are a bit pissed at him?
I though this was all over with the birthers and the deathers and all that but I guess not. So my advice is to forget any bipartisanship. These guys don't bother to read their own bills and amendments and are hell bent on stopping any progress.

I guess this follows that since today is 9/9/9 which upside down is 6/6/6. Now is the moon full?

Update My fellow blogging friend informs me that what Wilson did violated house rules. As he put it this is Congress not the Parliment. It's called decorum folks.

Last update: Here's the actual section from the bill itself. "SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

So who's the liar now?

As promised a list of Blue Dog democrats

Rep. Barrow
Rep. Gordon
Rep. Hill
Rep. Matheson
Rep. Melancon
Rep. Ross
Rep. Space

And if you want to get an idea about what this bill would mean for the folks in these guys districts pop over to Tin Foil Hats Unite and click on the links NorthCountry Liberal has there.

Foil Hats Unite

If you live in one of these districts I hope you'll keep track of how they vote and remember it the next election cycle. When they vote against this consider that you pay for their coverage (some of the best in the country) while you'll get nothing. Nothing like saying "I've got mine to hell with you"!

Thanks for the leg work NCL.

The government wants to kill grandma

It absolutely amazes me how people can read something and totally not understand it. A neighbor came over and mentioned that she had just read the health care bill. (Interesting in that this hasn't been finalized in either the house or senate) but I digress, she insisted that in the bill there was a requirement to put senior citizens to death by requiring a life directive. Needless to say she's an unread republican. I tried to explain exactly what this meant but you know republicans they'd rather believe the scare than the actual facts.
So what's a life directive? Real simple. It's legal instructions you set down to the hospital and your family in the event you are unable to communicate your wishes. It's not an easy decision to put on paper but it makes life so much easier for all involved.
And unlike the lies that the republicans have been circulating it is you and not the government or any insurance company who is making the decisions here.
After the Terry Shivo thing and having a relative face a similar situation as well as not having a will, I set out and did the deed legally and got my will and life directive completed. Darn and I always thought I was imortal.
I may change a few things later but at least there's no doubt as to what I wanted. I've also left instructions on what to do on my passing as I know people spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do and that involves fights and arguments. Nothing worse than seeing a family torn apart because nobody knew what to do.

So you might want to sit down with a lawyer or paralegal (depending on your state) and get it over with because if you don't the government will be making the decisions.

The perfect trap

In watching the republicans sharpen their knives for the conformation of Supreme Court candidate Sotomayor it's wonderful watching them set up to shoot themselves in the foot. Let's go down the qualifications and see where they could hang their hats. Think of the whole process like a jury trial. The republicans representing the prosecution with the democrats acting as defense and the American voter acting as the jury sets the stage.

Education - She graduated from high school valadictorian Cardinal Spellman High School
Her B.A. was from Princeton summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kapa the highest honors a student can get
Her law degree was from Yale where she was the editor of Yale Law Journal 1979

Career - Hired right out of law school as Assistant District Attorney New York County 1979
Entered private parctice 1984 doing intellectual property litigation
Appointed New York Mortgage Agency 1987 and Legal Defense Fund and Childbirth Connection
Nominated by George H.W. Bush for U.S. District Court Southern New York 1992
Nominated to the Court of Appeals her present position 1998

So what complaints are we hearing from the republicans? That she's a woman. Did they forget O'Connor and Ginsberg? That she's a Latino? And Alito isn't? That she's not smart enough (I almost choked when I heard that one) Maybe they could bother to look up summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kapa. I can hear it now. Isn't that Phi Beta Kapa that greek fraternity where they had wild keggers?
So in their brilliance and their insistance that they want to expand the republican party they will succeed in alienating women, Latinos and anyone with above average intelligence.

Republicans can't live with them can't shoot em

Sarah Palin went skiing again!!???

The ignorance of the republicans just amazes me. Earlier this week they stopped the Gitmo prison from being closed because they were afraid of having detainees brought to U.S. soil. I guess that means we'll have to move all the generic rapists and serial murders we have locked up now to some type of Devils Island in a far away place.

And now we have one Sarah Palin. I can't think of a good analogy to demonstrate the lack of her mental capacity. I always thought the republican party was the conservative party who made the act of saving money into a near religion. But I guess for Palin and now many of the other republicans when the opportunity to use a little money in order to save a lot of money has now come up they'd rather stick of the don't spend any money and therefore save nothing. That's taking conservatism to the next level of stupid. What did she do you ask? Last year when energy prices were way up there ( Alaska has the highest in the nation anyway) Moosilini doled out $26 million to the people of Alaska to help pay their heating bills. A nice kind act in itself. But when the Recovery act came around she is turning down some $700 million to help Alaskans weatherize their homes and probably save a ton of money in the long run. Her objection was that this would force a change in the building codes which most major cities in the state complies with already. I guess Sarah's never hear of the concepts of waivers or the term grandfather unless it's a baseball player or the old guy who falls asleep at picnics. So I feel sorry for the people of Alaska who are stuck with suck an ignorant person. Remember her actions when oil prices climb back up there and there's no state money to help keep the heat on next winter.

I call B.S.

The GOP is now backing the CIA concerning the Pelosi issue. And just like their true nature these guys will throw you under a bus when it suits their needs. Wasn't it Bush who said the CIA did such a bad job of various investigations and wasn't that the reason Tennant left as CIA head? I guess now that it suits the republican agenda they'll pull the CIA from under the bus, dust them off and hold them up. Once the truth be known a swift kick in the ass and back under the bus they'll go.

Hypocrites News Texas style

The wingnut from Texas is just blowing the usual Republican hot air. After standing up at one of those tea bag rallys and calling for the secession of Texas Governor Rich Perry blathers on. Protesting about taxes is one thing if they were being raised on the masses, but they weren't. Taxes have been lowered. And if you're stupid enough not to take the stimilus money then good, that will be more money for the rest of us. And just wait until the people of Texas face even more layoffs and really could have used that money. Maybe you could set up a bread line at the Governors mansion. Oh that's right your too busy trying to find funds to rebuild the mansion. You bitched about getting federal money to help get out of the resession but it seems you need help from FEMA (a federal agency) to put out fires and with hurricane rebuilding and preparedness. Now what's it going to be? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Don't believe me then go to the Gov's website and look you yourself Texas governor's website
You think you're going to run for Prez in 2012. Think again. At this point Ron Paul could easily stomp you and he's about half wingnut crazy as well. Hey why don't you get that sexy Sarah Palin to run with you. She's a real crowd pleaser I hear. Oh that's right you couldn't afford her wordrobe and she's just clueless window dressing. Wonder if she can see North Korea from her house? I think Kim Jong Ill has a big missle for her.
So what's it going to be Gov? Should the guys in Oklahoma start building a big fence? I'm sure they could use the work at this point. I guess we could pull out our military bases out of Texas since they're funded by our federal tax dollars along with medicare, medicade and social security. Gee what would your mother say when she gets cut off?

Time for reeducation?

A Calif. Republican Rep. Joel Anderson wants to have google earth block images of possible terror targets. Somebody want to tell this idiot that the horse is already out of the barn? In fact it's been out of the barn for five years now. Google Earth was out as a preview version in 2004. You could download photos of any major city anywhere in the world. I have somewhere in my collection of info an entire map of Bagdad. I wanted to see just how big the place was and what it looked like and let me tell you the city is huge. Sorry Joel if there was the dumbest lawmaker award you'd get it. D'OH

Maybe the senator would like to ban all the maps of the U.S. A google search reveals 134 million of them.

Time to vote the rest of these bastards out

Once again the republicans are blocking anything that would actually help the little guy. That's you and me. Now they want to put big tax breaks for business their usual MO. We know what happens to the money when business gets tax cuts. More perks for CEOs and more to the bottom line with nothing going to the worker or his family. Wasn't it Henry Ford who realized that if his workers weren't making money that they couldn't buy the products that the company made?

Greedy bastards

You'll note that in this anaylasis that the republicans want business to get their overseas taxes lowered to 5%. That is if there's any business that actually pay any taxes. 60% of corporations in this country don't pay any taxes.

Republicans at it again

When I read the title of this article I thought good now we can start to get this country going again. Silly rabbit I should have known better. Buried in the meat of the article is the attitude these republicans take when it comes to spending on anyone but their friends or their pet projects. The headline reads:
GOP governors press congress to pass stimilus bill

Keep it us guys and come 2010 and beyond there won't be a republican party. When the voters in your state keep loosing their jobs you really think they are going to vote for you? And as I've said before TAX CUTS DO NOT CREATE JOBS!

Credit, lending, and other contributing bits to our financial mess

A lot of people think that a bunch of greedy people were the cause of our present financial situation. That it was all caused by those people living way beyond their means. Well not exactly. It was the result of those at the top our fearless leaders who threw out all of the principles our parents tried to teach us having gone through the Great Depression. Having gone through the longest economic expansions in U.S. history they at the top were deluded into thinking that the good times would roll on forever. They created a climate ripe for disaster and not just for their fellow greedy friends but for the rest of us as well.

When I bought my place the interest rates were through the roof but I knew that this was the only opportunity I would have to own property. Back then the process was rather simple by today's standards. But even before I began looking for a place to call home I looked at what I could afford. The general rule for decades was you could not spend more than 2 1/2 times your annual income. That was the rule of thumb. With that bit of knowledge tucked away I went out and found a place at just under 2 times my annual income. It was the best of the bunch in terms size and price and I figured that would give me some leeway in terms of fluctuations in income. Fast forward to the last ten years. I managed to stay in my place through some pretty tough economic times and was finally able to refinance to a good interest rate on a 15 year fixed. By paying just an extra $100 a month to the principle I was able to pay off the mortgage in 7 years. When I did the refi was when banks were offering up to 125% loans on homes with no upfront fees and all. What had happened? Those at the top had removed all the old rules that we had been living by for the last 80 years. The common sense rules that would tell you that a person in the middle class can not afford to go out and buy a million dollar property. They couldn't afford the taxes much less the monthly payment. But I saw people doing this. Even one coworker last year bought a place for (gulp) $999,000. I'm sure he's long gone from that place unless he has some secret drug lab hidden on the property.

Now we get to credit cards those wonderful nasty necessary evils. A few years back the card companies must have paid Bush a visit or at least made a sizable contribution to his campaign because the next thing you know the bankruptcy laws are changed so that now if you have a major medical bill or job loss and must file as bankrupt you're still on the hook for your credit card bill and I'm sure they'll tack on extra fees just to add insult to injury. And this has nothing to do with people living beyond their means. I've seen people who pay their bills on time and have great credit get screwed. What I noticed was that a few years ago the payment period went from 30 days to 25 then to 20 and some as little as 14. A few even have no grace period at all. Interest accrues once the bill is received. The credit card lawyers must sit around and chuckle when they come up with new terms. I've also noticed that card offers are just now starting to trickle out in the mail but I tell you you wouldn't go for the terms if you were on your death bed because they'd want possession of your corpse and the sheets you're laying on.

So who got us into this mess? Bush and his band of thieves looking out for his interests with the help of his band of frat brother lawyers. You might notice that Obama and company are focused on the real problems for the benefit of all Americans and not just a select few. You remember Bush's base the "haves and the have mores".

This guy just doesn't give up

Bush in a last ditch push to finish screwing up this nation has pushed for 53 regulation changes that are bad for the country. What did Bush ever do that was good for the country? In the changes are more oil drilling, lower standards for polution releases in our air and water just to name a few.

It wouldn't shock me if he doesn't strike a match to the white house when as he walks out the door.

Legacy of George W.

I can only hope that Obama undoes all of the signing statments and enacts more common sense rules when he takes office.

If this doesn't tick you off

Consumer advocacy groups sent a request to the treasury to have bank customers get a 40% reduction in their credit card debt in order to help clear up tight credit. The treasury department said no you can't do it.

Merry christmas fools

As you may recall prior to Bush and his band of thugs taking office (and I mean that literaly) if you got in trouble like having a medical emergency or job loss you could call the credit card company and get some kind of help. If you filed bankruptcy you could have your entire debt restructured or erased called debt forgiveness. Not any more. Not since Bush climed in bed with the credit card companies and changed that law. Just wonder how much Shrub sucked out of them to get that law passed.

Let me add that it's estimated that a lot of pepople are resorting to credit cards to make ends meet. I can only hope that Obama undoes everything this ass wipe did in the last eight years and I hope he does it all by executive order with no input from the rethuglicans.

Update: The credit card companies can change the rate and terms on your card even if you haven't missed a payment and have a good credit rating. Geez and I recall as a kid there were loan sharks. They would loan money at - shock! - 25%. That now sounds like a starting point for some of these blood suckers. Tony Saprano would be proud of these guys.
I recall when I was starting out having to use short term credit and cards to fill a few gaps with a rate of 19%. So what's going on now. Well since Shrub changed the rules you now have to pay all the credit card debt even if you go bankrupt with no money you still have to pay all the money back. Doesn't matter if you're on your death bed. So what are people doing? They're paying their credit cards first because they know that the house payment is expendable. They can walk away from the house but not the credit card.
What people don't seem to realize is how easy it is to get upside down in a loan. Unlike 30 or so years ago when credit rates were stable you could buy a car keep it for two years making payments then trade it for a new one and not lose on the deal.
Then there's housing. If you bought a home with a variable rate let's say because you didn't plan on living in an area for more than a few years you're screwed. And it doesn't matter if you bought too much house or not. With the home values dropping and the soft market you won't be able to stay when the rate changes and you won't be able to sell it when you owe way more than it's worth.

First they ripped up the constitution now this

Drug companies want total immunity from any liability in the event they produce drugs that harm patients. I guess now we have to become doctors in order to get medical treatment because if this passes muster in the Supreme Court your on your own if your hurt by a drug.

Take this pill but if you die from it don't blame me

Once again this is about unregulating an industry so that they can make bigger profits only this time instead of loosing a house you could land up loosing your life. This crap must stop. We saw what it did to banking.

A Halloween trick from Bush

George W. never fails to amaze me how stupid he is. In a final push to finish off our once fine country, Georgie wasn't satisfied with ruining our financial system with deregulation he now appears to be setting us up for a scorched earth policy. In the final months of his failed presidency he's pushing for the deregulation of our environmental laws. We saw what a wonderful job he did to our banking and stock markets. Some 90 laws and regulations are being pushed to make our air dirtier our water less drinkable and of course this will mean more $$$ for big business. I can only hope now that the Democrats gain a supermajority that's fillibuster proof and that they can march lock step for the benefit of all Americans. If we poison the planet where will we live?

Beware of voter registration tricks

My BS meter is starting to run on high. Six states have purged voters from their rolls even though this may be illegal. Several states require that purging can not be done less than 90 days before an election. We saw that happen here in our state after the last election. The only problem with that one was that the rethuglicans purged many of their own legally registered voters.

Ohio voters ALERT

Anybody out there from Ohio needs to be aware that the rethuglicans have been purging the voter rolls in many states. This tactic is ment to eliminate voters who might vote for Obama. If you suspect this may happen to you, usually when you go to the polls and they don't find your name on the list of registered voters. Ask for a provisional ballot and contact the election officials usually the county auditor. You can expect this and other dirty tactics this time around again.

Last post on McLame

John McCain says that he doesn't work for the party. Well if that's the case then maybe he should give back the $200 million to the republican party and try and raise his own money because he doesn't support them. Except for the fact that he voted with Bush 95% of the time in 2007 and 100% of the time in 2006. So I can only assume he's an independent and the GOP needs to find somebody else to run on their ticket.

Headline reads McCain distancing himself from GOP
