Amplify!
something i've been praying for for a really long time.. close to a year maybe? and yes! He's answered my prayers yet again! heehee~
i always thought we Catholics don't have P&W sessions.. for some reason i thought we're the super traditional kind coz of the way my home parish does things.. but sadly to say.. that isn't my thing.. i feel like i can express myself better with the former.. and it took me only one session to have that sense of belonging.. and i didn't feel the least awkward.. in fact.. that place brought back memories! coz i realised it was where my conf 3 or conf 4 camp was held at.. haha.. the water bomb and nonsense.. haha..
i thought it was a place with not-so-many people.. but man was i wrong.. my friend was clever enough to take me into the room rather early.. and by 8pm.. the room was like FILLED! just youths alone was like 100+ people la! zai~ i heard that half the community come from the West.. oh man!
after our P&W.. was a talk by our very own Br. Mike Broughton.... guys from SJI ought to know him ya? i had him as a speaker once and i thoroughly enjoyed myself.. and today was no different..
interesting how he started his talk with a very gentlemanly tone, "shut up and sit down".. haha..
today's topic is about Fear..
i'lll try to type as much as i can remember k? of course, summarised.. Very summarised..
Love casts out all Fears.
Love is a
Present experience
Fears are mostly founded by Past Experiences
Fears are irrational and they tend to linger to the
Present in the
Gospel of John: "Do Not be Afraid."
Our God is an Awesome God...
the word "Awesome" originated from a latin word, "terribilis".. yes, "terrible"..
God will Terrify the God-less..
The Past oppresses not just the Present, but the Past also oppresses the Future.
Claim your Fears! do Not submit to your irrational Fears.
by Claiming it.. half the battle is already won..
God will redeem our Fears..
Claim it NOW!
as
St Paul said, "NOW is a favourable time." - TODAY!
God doesn't save your sins.. He saves YOU!
Celebrate by learning from our sins and repenting
Can one be sinful AND faithful? Well, Yes!
Repentance is a Gift. It's God's 1st invitation to Love.
God will NEVER give up on us..
only the unrepentant gives up on God..
Was God there when you were sinning? Yes!(not participating of course.. haha)
He was already working on healing you..
He made us all and in that way He expects us to sin..
but He'll forgive all sins.. "delete from hard drive... reformatted.. no more referrences" (oh man.. haha.. Br. Mike is funny)
God gives us people to love..
he/she is a gift given by the Giver..
we should treasure and cherish and love him/her..
but do Not posses.. do not say "you are mine".. only God can say that..
instead, pray and ask for gratitude.. to aid remind yourself that it is His Gift to you..
it is through them that His love is transmitted
in Job 1:21
He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD."
God gave us inner spiritual resilience..
so after you've been hurt, learn to grow
completion comes from GOD!!!
Fear the Loss of Love and NOT the Loss of People
for God is still the centre of our lives.. not them..
Hurt comes from those you love the most (hmmm.. does that mean you don't love Him the most?)
but instead you should tell them that they are the cause of your greatest joy and your greatest sorrow
Love entails sacrifices
No Love without sacrifices
we are inadequate, inapt and imperfect.. so? all of us are the same! (birds of a feather.. haha)
it's for God to complete us
The Divine Love casts out all fear
the Best prayer in time of need/fear: God I am afraid
(as Br. Mike said.. sometimes open-ended prayers are good coz we don't advise God what to do.. haha)
St Paul:
My grace is efficient for you
-i Love You more than life-
