True, the lavender and black doesn't work, it just can't cope with the brilliance of the middle part which is gorgeous. Maybe replace it with something blue/red/yellow, too? I'm afraid, not much can be done to integrate the border as it is. The double nine patch is so convincing because of it's fractal mathematics. Lovely.
replacing or simply removing the border is probably the best choice of action. it looks disconnected, almost floating away from the rest of the quilt top. fortunately it hasn't yet been quilted so there are options
Lovely, vibrant colours; you just have to love quilts made from solids!
Looking forward to see what you are planning to do next; knowing how much I hate to make borders, and even worse, having to unpick them, I would probably try to add something first...
