Cowboy Jesse from Mo Manning

This lil' cutie is Cowboy Jesse from Mo Manning, isn't he a cool dude!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a center step card and the saloon doors. The letters for the "saloon" were cut using an Altenew alphabet set called "Inline Alpha". I love using this set because the little cut outs add so much interest.

First Snow by Mo Manning

Recently Mo released some fabulous new images and this was one of them. This is the beautiful First Snow. I cut it out within a circle using my Silhouette Cameo. This turned the image into a beautiful frame that I popped up with a Winter forest scene in the background.

It seems strange to think of snow when we are heading into Summer here in Australia, but I have fond memories of my childhood in England, when we loved looking for the robins and enjoying the magic snow can bring with it.

Getting Ready for Christmas

Recently I saw a friend had made a "flip flap" card and I loved the concept. I watched this tutorial and decided to adapt the concept to fit as a topper on my standard 5 1/2" square cards. I cut down the number of flaps from 3 to 2 to make it work. I then drafted the pattern in my silhouette cameo to make life easier for me ;)

I always loved paper dress up dolls as a kid, so thought Lula Fairy Doll would be a great image to use. The card front became her "bedroom" and the flaps the doors to her wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe, hanging up ready to wear for that special day, are some of the clothes from Lula Christmas Elf (clothes only)

The papers I used are digital papers from Mo Manning - on the front is Colorful Trees and on the back is Silver Blue Ornaments. I have sized these to work as I wanted them to on my project.

Other clothing options available for Lula are Lula Butterfly and Lula Angel Wings

Most of the dies I used are from La-La Land Crafts

I hope you enjoyed my fun little project.

Slimline Christmas Gnome

Well it seemed it was time to jump on the slimline card bandwagon and I had such fun creating this card. The gorgeous gnome is from Mo Manning and I paired him with some digital papers I bought years ago - unfortunately the company I bought them from is no longer in business :( , but the concept is certainly one you can repeat using different digi papers.

To create the background paper I uploaded the digi paper which already had a white edging on it. I then re-sized to one inch and replicated it over and over to create my design. I have found the easiest way to do this is to use my Silhouette Cameo. You import the file, re-size and then use the duplicate button to create the look and size wanted. Then simply print off your design. Not the normal use for the Cameo I know, but I just consider it another feature ;) . I have used this technique a lot in the past - mainly for creating backgrounds using repeating patters of sentiments, such as on THIS card.

I also printed out the paper as a 4" square to sit my finished gnome on.

The pinecone die is from La-La Land Crafts. I shaped the pinecones slightly and pushed out the little grooves on the pinecone. It adds a fabulous texture to them if you want to spend the extra time.

The sentiment dies are from Impression Obsession and are called Christmas Stitched Words. I cut them out twice - one in white and once in green and filled the letter gaps on the green set with the letters from the white set.

My Last 2020 Blog Catch Up Post

Well I did it - in just a few short posts I've updated my blog with makes from 2020 that I had posted on Instagram at @debpamment but not here. I'm pretty sure all the others on my Insta page can be found on my blog now, apologies if I missed any!

This gorgeous Emu is from Whimsy Stamps and their Love for Australia digital stamp set. I enlarged him and cropped him to fit into my digital frame before adding some digital gum tree branches and colouring. The background was done first, with Copics and colourless blender.

This card was done for a good friend of mine who loves Altenew stamps and dies and was the person who introduced them to me. I have quite a collection now too 😉. You can't tell it here but the leafy background was done using my Silhoutte Cameo and foiling pen. It looks gorgeous shining in the right light.

Baby Isla's Card

Two weeks ago today the daughter of one of my besties gave birth to a beautiful baby girl - little Miss Isla Grace. I was lucky enough to go and meet her and get a cuddle last week - she's absolutely adorable.

To celebrate her arrival I used one of my favourite baby images - from Saturated Canary - and added her to a onesie shaped card and wording cut on my Silhouette - it was a real labour of love.

The Cutest Reindeer Around

Check out this adorable new Sprite from Aurora Wings - this is Reindeer Sprite and seriously could he GET any cuter?!?!?!?! I just couldn't help myself, he NEEDED to be coloured up and popped onto a card. I cut my card shape using my Cameo, I just love that machine. The edges of the card also have star dust Stickles on to add some more Christmas cheer.

Simply Betty Stamps Progressive Challenge - July 2017

It's time for the next installment of the Simply Betty Stamps' 2017 Progressive Challenge. This month we were given this gorgeous American Independence Day image called Fireworks Beauty to use and the challenge is to use this recipe on our projects....

1 Designer paper (minimum)
Stars and stripes anywhere on the project besides the image of courseUse ribbon or twine

MUST USE THE SENTIMENT {mine is tucked inside the card}

I created a star shaped card on my Cameo and - because I'm not American - I chose some striped paper in funky colours to use instead of a more traditional red, white and blue. I mirrored the colours throughout the image and covered the star that said "4th" with a lovely lime green rose. I know have a birthday card that will be perfect to give to a friend who has a July birthday.

You can see all of the inspiration, rules and entries in the July Album in the SBS Facebook Fan Group.

Aurora Wings Challenge #52

We have another great challenge over at Aurora Wings, and there are so many gorgeous images that could be used for it, from sultry sirens to adorable merkids.

Image may contain: drawing and text

I've used the fabulous Whisper of the Sea image and paired her with a card cut using my silhouette. Add some sparkle, netting and liquid pearls and she was done. Popping up the layers and adding the different embellishments give the whole project such a fabulous depth and texture while letting the Mitzi's stunning art still be the hero.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the AMAZING DT inspiration on our BLOGWe also have a very active Facebook Fan Group with additional contests, challenges and inspiration.  We hope to see you there.

Romance is in the Air at Teddy Towers

Image may contain: food

OH MY I just HAD to play with this image from Teddy Bo when I saw it. Don't you just love Teddy Bo and Teddy Bea dressing up and dancing together - soooo romantic. Of course these guys aren't the Beauty and the Beast, but I have nick-named them Bea Beauty and Teddy Bo Beast - or as the Teddy Bo DT have called them,  Bea and her horny bear Bo!

These guys are in the June Bundles but will be available as a single image in July. My card shape was cut using a silhouette store file.

Using the Silhouette Print and Cut Feature with La-La Land Digis

WOW - I did this tutorial for La-La Land Crafts back in January 2014! I have decided to post it again as I still get asked how I cut my images and I figured it would be a good time to revisit it so here goes....

I have been asked many times how I manage to cut so neatly around my images - it's no secret - I CHEAT!!! I have dodgy eyes and often start seeing 2 sets of scissors when I try to fussy cut so I talked my dear hubby into letting me have a Silhouette Cameo. One of it's many features is a print and cut option. I LOVE this feature and use it ALL the time.

Today I am here to show YOU how to use it too. This post is fairly picture heavy because they say a picture tells a thousand words and they make much more sense than I could!

Apart from just the print and cutting I will also show you how to remove the white box that comes around the La-La Land digis - this way you'll be able to squeeze your images closer together and make the most of your colouring paper.

Are you ready????

Here goes........

Note - if you click on the pictures you'll open them up bigger if you need to see more details.

To get your image into your Cameo you open up the files. You won't see anything here yet because it will only show silhouette files. You'll need to find the "All files" tab and select it - then your images will appear and you can make your selection.

I've chosen Tea Time Marci here. She'll drop in onto the cutting mat which is the white square - but I have moved her over to the blue section to the left of the mat. You need to trace the image so go the the Trace tab and click on the Select Trace Area button.

Then choose the Trace button and you'll see red lines appear on top of the image. Note red lines are cutting lines. Needless to say you don't want to cut the whole image apart so we need to select what we do want to cut. I have enlarged the screen to make it easier to see what's going on - use the magnifying buttons on the top menu bar to do this.

Go to the Offset tab and select offset. This should place a red line around your image. To create a white border around your image once it's cut you need to change this to the desired width. Use the Offset Distance to change the settings. For these images I like to set it to 0.06 but this is a personal choice.

Move the printed image away from all the red cutting lines. Then click on the group of red lines and separate them out even further into trace lines and offset lines.

Select the offset group of cut lines and right click to bring up a menu. Select Release Compund Path to separate all the lines so they can move independently of one another.

Choose the lines you WANT to cut and move them over your B&W image. Here I've already moved the outline over and I also want to add the lines for cutting the space between her legs. Some images may have more or less extra pieces to cut so choose what you like.

Once you have centered all the cut lines over your image select the whole area and right click to bring up the menu. Click on Group to join all the pieces into one unit which will move together - whether it's for re-sizing or copying and pasting over.

To remove the white background go back to the Trace function. Select your Trace Area and then change the Threshold to 100% and click off the High Pass Filter. Press the Trace and Detach button and you should be able to move your image away from the white background. As I mentioned before this is a useful step when using more than one image per page as you can sit them closer together and maximize the space on your page.

You can save your image with it's cut lines now so you can pull her up to re-use for future projects without having to repeat all of these steps.

Slide your image onto the cutting mat and bring up the registration marks. These help the Cameo know where to cut on your page. Nothing will cut outside the red lines or in the shaded areas so you will have to make sure your images stay within the central area. You can alter the margins using the sliders although I personally have never tried doing this.

I only have A4 sized blending paper so I select the A4 option and usually prefer to cut in landscape position so I make that change too.

Note - The red lines off to the side from your previous work won't be cut as they are off the cutting mat - another reason to do all that work off mat - there's no need to delete it!

I then copy and past other images with their cut lines into my page and jiggle them around to make the most of the space.

Note the circled section - this image doesn't have the white background removed and it is covering over Fairy Marci's wing. So you can see it's handy not having the white background on your images.

Now it's time to print your image.

IMPORTANT
DO NOT MOVE anything on your mat once you have printed it out as it won't cut out right.

Load your printed sheet into the Cameo using the carrier sheet and follow the prompts onscreen once you hit the Cameo cutting option.

Detect the registration marks automatically - the machine will let you know if it's having problems reading them as it won't cut properly if it can't. Follow the prompts to cut, making sure you use appropriate setting for your paper.

Well I hope you managed to stick it out to the end and I hope you have found some useful hints and tips here and give it a go yourself .

Some Trouble Shooting Tips
- I sometimes find I have to trace over my registration marks with a black fineline as they have printed too fine to read.
- Check all of your settings - if you are cutting an A4 sheet your settings must read for an A4 sheet.

Happy Colouring Debbie

A Rocking Card with Teddy Bo

I managed to get this cute Teddy Bo onto a card while my internet, phone and TV were down - it's amazing how much time is sucked up a day on those devices!!!!

Anyway - back to my card....This cutie is in the Teddy Bo May 2017 membership.I created a rocking card for him and chose a fun MFT sentiment {from the Happy Hedgehog set} which seemed to fit this little guy with his sideways lean.

An Engagement Card for a Friend

A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure of helping a good friend's daughter celebrate her engagement. We had a truly wonderful evening with the happy couple, their families and friends.

Congratulations Nicole and Darren

This is the card I made for them - using an image from my stash from Spesch Stamps. The card was cut using my Cameo and you can find the shape in the Silhouette Store. The papers are digital papers from Bearly Mine Designs. It's so sad both Spesch Stamps and BMD are no longer available - but it was fun to use them again.
