Hello Blogging Friends! I hope you had a pleasant weekend . Isn't that a wonderful word ,HOPE ! Emily Dickinson says , "Hope" is the thing with feathers -That perches in the soul- And sings the tune without the words-And never stops-at all. "
Last week we went to NC Museum of Art to the exhibit" Rembrandt in America ".It included nearly 50 paintings(not all were his ). It was the greatest museum gathering of his paintings in America . I am glad I went to see it .Now I have witnessed what his unique genius in portrait painting was .I had heard about it , now I have seen it .He made the faces stand out and come to life using the method of chiaroscuro. Chiaroscuro employs the the use of light and shade to achieve an almost three dimensional effect. The only down note is after looking at painting after painting devoid of color with only only dark shade and light , you can get a bit bored , especially the younger crowd . But yet , it was all still wonderful and fascinating .
You know , I love to take pics, but none allowed at this exhibit . Here is the late afternoon sunset I snapped as I left to go to the museum.
After visiting the museum , I took these pics of the courtyard fountains in the dark.
A yellow bouquet from a grocery store stop.
Yesterday , I finally started my album for the Page a Month Club Hosted by Sue of" Sue Loves Cherries" and Host of "Rednesday "
I decided on a toilet paper roll mini album; Something I had wanted to try for a while . I love the idea of recycling . My graphics are mostly form the net, so if one of them is yours, tell me and I will acknowledge your work . I decided on a New Year's theme for January.
I also made this Winter Snow Fun tag. It slides into the flattened TP Roll.
While I had my mind on snowmen , I printed out these vintage snowman postcards and made a winter banner.
I will leave you will these wonderful words form Isaiah Ch 43 ,which are a comfort to me today .
" Do not remember the former things , nor the things of old . Behold, I will do a new thing , Now It shall spring forth;Shall you not know it ?I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert ."

My last pics are of my Paperwhites , which on this third week since planting are blooming . The fragrance is delicious . It has been very enjoyable watching them grow .I love gardening and watching things grow . They are leggy , but the blooms are beautiful . I read that you can add one part alcohol to one part water ratio and stunt their growth . But I was afraid I might kill them. Has anyone ever tried
this ? What was your result ?

Wonderful post, Myrna! Love your TP mini album and tag!!! So cute, and very well-done for only your first one!! The museum sounds nice, and I sure wish I could have gone. The Norman Rockwell Museum is presently on my wish list for things to do, someday! Love your flowers, and it's the first time I've heard of these! On a cold day like today, if you're stuck indoors, fresh flowers like these sound lovely! ~tina
ReplyDeletea beautiful arrangement; lovely photographs
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the recycling idea.

Hi Myrna, I decorate my bath with birds. I have a picture hanging by my tub with that saying by Emily Dickinson. I love it. Your snowmen projects are all just darling! The toilet paper roll idea is neat. Yes, I have done the alcohol thing with my paperwhites. Really didn't notice a big difference. I love the smell, but many of my family members think they stink. I still plant them for December. Too pretty to pass up.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection of photos.

Beautiful photos Myrna! How wonderful to get to see such a large exhibit of Rembrandt's paintings! I can remember to this day, going to LACMA when I was in elementary school and getting to see his painting of his son, Titus. :) What a fun idea to use a TP roll for your mini album, love that!
ReplyDeleteHappy Rednesday!
Nice photos. The yellow flowers are beautiful and so cheery! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteHow nice you were able to see the paintings. Great photos. I really like the ones at night.

Myrna, your little book is so cute! I've heard of the t.p. roll books, but never actually seen one. Your book at the end of the year is gonna look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI like that cloud photo - it looks like a canopy.
Your TP roll book and snowman banner are too cute. The paperwhites are so pretty. I've never grown them before. Mostly my plants end up dead.....
ReplyDeleteHope is truly a wonderful word! I enjoyed seeing your pictures. Your winter banner was so cute.
ReplyDeletelovely photos, i like the afternoon sunset so lovely hope weather is always that fine! Visiting via RT!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact you take me on the road trip with you!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to just sit and create and be in the company of snowfolk no less. I must confess, snow is not my cup of tea...it is too cold, ha, I don't like iced tea either.
Just being silly and happy to be silly!
Thanks for adding joy to my morning dear one,
the girl with the curl
Snow is something we generally don't have much of & it does not last long. So we enjoy it mostly as long the roads are ok and the power stays on.Ice is our main culprit in the south .
