Brooklyn Bunny Killers !
Apparently there is a growing "farming/homesteader" trend amongst Brooklyn hipster/hippies and this, somehow, justifies their BUNNICIDE!!! From The New York Post:
Martina Fugazzotto (below) remembers the moment she first fell for her boyfriend, Mike Caputo. It was when they butchered bunnies together.
Likes guys named "Mike" and killing Bunnies |
“I took a class at Third Ward, this collective in Bushwick,” she says. “I held a live rabbit in my hands, and I went through the [entire] process . . . each person did it themselves, and we learned what to do with every part of the rabbit.”
“Last time I was in Brooklyn, it looked like every guy there was about to ship out for the Civil War,” says Christian Lander, creator of the blog Stuff White People Like and recent author of “Whiter Shades of Pale."
He sees the current farming craze as the latest incarnation of the hipster quest for ultimate old-timeyness. “We have this amazing thing of wanting to live in this time that never existed,” Lander says, “where everything is old-fashioned but there are still iPhones.”
Damn dirty Hipster-Hippies! My only hope is that PETA finds out about this atrocity and does something about it. As a matter of fact, let me Google "PETA email" and get the ball rolling on this ... I can do it while eating the delicious fried chicken I bought for lunch.
What?!? That's TOTALLY different!! Chickens aren't cute and cuddly!! Oh, NEVERMIND...

The Day After - Coney Island Ave, Brooklyn
The picture above is becoming the iconic image of Blizageddon 2010 - showing abandoned cars, taxis and buses on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn the day after the storm. Now we have video ...
BTW: since when are there so many yellow cabs in Brooklyn??
It kind of reminds me of the 1983 TV Movie - The Day After (below) - which depicted a nuclear holocaust and scared the crap outta me when I was in high school. Back then we weren't afraid of terrorists per se, but we were completely frightened of the big, bad Soviet Union and their nuclear arsenal. This ghost-town-like video of NYC creeps me out just the same as the movie did.

Martha Stewart Getting Drunk In Brooklyn
Many of you know how much I love Martha Stewart - but this video somehow made me love her even more. Watch her get sloshed (Martha LOVES a good cocktail) in Brooklyn with her two new Gays. My favorite part is when the bartender disses her beloved Vodka ...

Sen. Adams Joins General Larry Platt's Army
NY State Senator Eric Adams (below) has launched a billboard campaign in Brooklyn against people "looking like a fool with their pants on the ground". But why didn't Sen. Adams get "General" Larry Platt (above) to be his spokesman?? From the Daily News:
State Sen. Eric Adams (above) announced Sunday the posting of six giant billboards in Brooklyn targeting the saggy trend. The billboards go up Monday. "This whole sagging pants culture seems to have swept the city and the country," said Adams, a Democrat. "Children will be children. But as adults, we need to be on record and tell them they're doing something wrong."
The 22-foot-tall billboards will be erected along heavily traveled streets, primarily in Crown Heights. Adams said he used $2,000 in campaign funds to pay for the billboards. Each billboard features two male models whose pants are hanging so low their underwear is showing. The message: "Stop the Sag!" and "We are better than this!"
Ok, I agree that boys look ridiculous showing off their underwear by belting their pants under their bootays (see above). But the "Coinslot Look" on muscular adults I don't mind at all...

Saturday Night Dance Break - Boogie Shoes
Did you know that the Brooklyn dance club featured in Saturday Night Fever eventually became a gay club? When I lived in Brooklyn I would sometimes go there for the extremely strong drinks and to dance on the most famous dance floor in the world. The funny thing about Spectrum (that's what the club was called) was that it wasn't very big - even the dance floor was relatively tiny. But thanks to the magic of the movies the place looked huge.
Spectrum closed a few years ago - another part of my youth lost forever. Just like my virginity, my waistline, and my youthful optimism...
So to honor Saturday Night (and lost, youthful virgins), enjoy KC and The Sunshine Band's "Boogie Shoes"...

If I Had To Live In Brooklyn...
...then this would be the place. From The New York Times:
Despite the tumbling prices for trophy apartments, a striking triplex penthouse apartment in a clock tower overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbor has gone on the market for $25 million, more than double the highest price known to have been paid for a home in Brooklyn. The main floor of the sleek modern apartment is dominated by four working clocks housed in four 14-foot-high round windows, which provide nearly unobstructed views (except for the clock faces) out to the four points of the compass.

White Meat Monday Hottie of the Day - Scott Herman
Scott Herman, 24, is a member of the latest Real World cast on MTV - The Real World: Brooklyn. I gave up on the Real World years ago, but from what I've read this season is the gayest EVAH. No, Scott isn't one of the gays - he's just one of the hotties.
The Real World residence this season is located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. When I moved to NYC in the early 90's, I lived near Red Hook in Carroll Gardens. I ventured into Red Hook exactly ONCE (to the Post Office), and never went back - it was REALLY scary. In fact, Life magazine in the 1990's named Red Hook as one of the worst neighborhoods in the U.S., and called it the "crack capital of America". But in the last 10 years Red Hook has been gentrified, and now features a young, hip population and an IKEA store - very Real World-esque.
