Kauai- South Shore Adventures

April means Spring Break and a break from the breakneck pace of work and school ;) I had a break from school as my students had a week off for spring break and for Matt, it was exactly the wrong time to try and leave but we had a good time with my family on the south shore of Kauai. Here are a few photos from our time away.

The boys had fun jumping off of Kipu Falls into the pool below. Although it is blurry, I wanted to post this picture to document the fun that we had at these falls over the week.

We also drove further south along the coast and reached Waimea Canyon. We stopped off at many of the lookouts and took pictures of this amazing red-orange canyon. Although the clouds were dark and low, the light that was cast on the natural features around us was beautiful.

This photo does not do this coast justice! This is one of the better images of the Kalalau Valley. The only way to enter this valley is by hiking an 11 mile trail beginning on the north coast but we got a good view from the top rim.

This is the view of the trail that we hiked to gain even better views of the Kalalau Valley. The rain on this part of the island has formed the deep ruts on this trail and made it very unique and fun to scramble along.
