D & J get a mini VACA

We were fortunate enough to get to fly to Billings, MT to attend the sealing of Daniel's brother Eric to his sweet wife, Cyntia and their kids this weekend. We've really been looking forward to it since they returned from Honduras in October. We're glad we were invited and that Alligiant Air has awesome fares that just so happened to be on Thursday and Sunday! :)
It also just happened to be my old home stakes' Temple day so we ran into lots of people we knew. It's always fun to do that, especially when they aren't expecting to see you so far away from home. Here's all who were in attendence. And below is the ceremonial passing of the clock, pictured chronologically in order of receipt. Cheryl would be between John and Daniel.
Dad was able to come up and join in the festivities with us. Jared made friends fast with him at lunch and it resulted in an arm wrestling dual.
After lunch I hung out with the "mighty hunter" himself, a few weeks prior he had taken his bow up to be restrung, so we went to pick it up and have a new peep put on. Yes, I learned a little about modern archery.
The morning we were to leave... Daniel woke up not feeling well AT ALL! (I was lucky to have time to get in the shower if ya know what I mean) Turns out he and Mirian and Trish all ate something "not so good" at lunch. Luckily he got it all out and we made a run for the airport. We have the best of luck and got stuck with about the last seating session both ways, however on the way back the plane wan't totally full like it was going up... so Daniel and I both ended up with a full row (and a window) all to ourselves. I have to say, I had the best side of the plane, not that it mattered. Daniel drugged himself up and slept almost the whole flight anyway. But I got this picture of the Temple...
And this one of Hoover Dam and the new bridge...

A cake for Chelsi & Jordan

Top: Actual Cake                                                 Bottom: Inspiration
Thank goodness I had to go to SLC yesterday for a business meeing so I was able to stop at Orson Gygi and get some ivory gel. Chelsi wanted lemon... and in my pregnant state I called Curtis Bakery and had them bake the 12' bottom layer. Then today I made a lemon butter cream filling. It's a basic buttercream that I use butter flavored shortening and add lemonade concentrate. It was SO yummy. Sure hope it tasted good with the cake! :) I also picked up a stensil to try my luck at some sort of design like the inspiration cake. It was surprisingly easy. You just stick it to the fondant with a little water and spread royal icing over it. Viola!
Disclaimer: This is also the last cake I will be making while pregnant or for awhile thereafter. If you need my friend Amy's # just give me a call... I will happily refer you to her.
