Mya likes to get Michael's chess game out and play with all the pieces. She was doing this today and brought be a Bishop and said, "Mama, baby cry'n" I helped her comfort the piece of plastic and then I took a better look...

MInute to Win It
We usually have a ward camp out in August. It usually includes us and the Sevy's and maybe another family or two camping out in Pine Valley and then the ward comes up for a nice lunch in the mountains the next day. Well this year they decided to forego the mountain idea and just do a party here. It was SO fun! We had a big taco dinner with ice cream sandwhiches for dessert and our own Minute to Win It game show! Here's Daniel putting both hands in nylons to retrieve coins in the bottom of each leg without using his hands to pull each seperatly. He won of course.
Here's Amy and Aaron with nylons on their heads with baseballs in the ends straddling a line and swinging the ball back and forth to knock over the water bottles. Amy won! And Shaye and Brittan stacking and unstacking a pyramid of cups... Brittan won!

It really wasn't THIS yellow. A prettier pale yellow... I had the vivid color setting on, on my camera. Good to know it works! :)

Happy Birthday Bug!
Not everyone gets to have their birthday on the first day of school! But this year Haleigh is the lucky one! She's excited about it, and getting to see all her friends again!
We got 3 dozen donuts for her class (since there's 28 kids + you need left overs for brothers and best friends) I think this is the first time we've taken treats to school. Then McKenna and Autumn came over for homemade pizza's and rootbeer floats and after Michael and Austin got done at baseball practice they joined the party for lazer tag at Lazer Mania.

Jury Duty
Daniel got a pink slip in the mail for Jury Duty. So as soon as we got back from our trip he had to call on Monday to see if he would need to go in on Tuesday. Yep, so he got to get a little dressed up compared to his usual jeans and a t-shirt and got sit in the court room all day. He made the first cut and had to come home for lunch to get another book to read because he finished the one he took in the morning. Then he made the second cut and they started the case right away. He can't tell me anything about it... even though I've tried playing 20 questions with him and everything. I couldn't do it, I'd have to tell him ALL about it! And that's why they picked him and not me. :)

Wyoming 2010
First of all, just let me say that I think Wyoming is just a little closer to heaven than we are down here in St. George (must be the heat) But the first thing I notice just about the time we pop out at Evanston is how the clouds seem to be so much closer. It's beautiful. Especially when we go weeks without a cloud in sight!
Farson, Wyoming isn't much. If you didn't have to slow down and turn at the intersection you would blow right by it. But at the Farson Mercantile they have HUGE icecream cones. We always get the small one and it's still a big cone. Apparently I usually make a baby cone at home. I think it's a Wyoming tradition. Haleigh got mint chocolate chip, Michael got cookies and cream, and Mya got strawberry... she also wanted her picture with this giant icecream cone!
This picture has been on the blog before. I usually stop and take a good picture... but Daniel was driving and there's no time for photo opps. So here it is at 65 mph out the window, still breath taking.
Another thing we're not used to since moving to the desert... bugs! They love the wind river canyon and besides the hot springs I think Thermopolis, WY was put where it is so you could stop and clean your windshield after coming through the canyon in the evening! (We also stopped in Riverton on the way to see G.G. Frahm-that pic. is coming up)
Monday was the start of fair week for Washakie Co. When Michael and Haleigh found out it was fair week they wanted to go, so we got online (only to find out that Washakie Co. is the only stinking county in the state w/o anything online for the fair... come on guys... get with the times.) So I called and had the schedule faxed to me and the release form for PIG WRESTING! The kids were stoked! They had no idea what it was, but they were all for it. So we called Kasey and Brennan and asked if they wanted to have a wrestling team, they agreed.

Here's a little 6ish year old out cutting the bags of bentinite with his own pocket knife while the fire crew looked on. This was mostly a picture that I took because most mom's around here would FREAK OUT if their 6 year old was even thinking about using a knife. :)
For those who are not familiar with the sport of PIG WRESTING... They set up a pen, dump some beninite in it and soak it down (it turns to very slippery mud). Then they set a pig loose in the pen and a team of 4 wrestlers have to grap the pig and stick it butt first into a barrel. The team that does it the fastest wins.
Here's the Hansen Hog tiers chasing their pig down!
And here he goes into the barrell. I could actually hardly believe they got that screeming thing in there, but they did. And that's more than some of those farm kids did, so we were pretty proud!

and so were the wrestlers
Then on Tues. we (us and Grandpa minus Grandma and Mya plus John's family and a bunch of Sean's friends) went to Greybull to go paintballing! I have to admit... it took me a good 3 rounds before I was enjoying any part of it. By the end of the day it was really fun. I don't think it's something I need to do again though. Maybe if Jen and Ju are there with me or something. But DANG... THAT HURTS! (especially in the head)
It's out in the middle of no where, where LOTS of mosquitos like to live.

Dad/Grandpa in full gear
Our family + 1 friend
Ready set go. This was a fun 3 on 3 quick game we played for awhile.
John wanted to get my dad back for inadvertantly getting shot by Mirian 2 years ago, so they had a stand off (otherwise known in paintball terms as "Frosty the snow man") He got him alright.
Me and Mirian in the refs roost. It was more fun at the end of the day to watch everyone else get shot.
This is how Michael plays paintball. I think he had it confused with hide and seek. He would eventually just give up and come out. I honestly don't blame him... have I mentioned it HURTS!?
I think if there is shooting involved at all... my dad REALLY gets into it.
Me and my Michael, and my "something about Mary" hair do thanks to a direct hit to the head!
The Brass Plum is the best place to eat in town. These are there breakfast twists. They are sweet rolls with tons of sugary buttery yummyness on them. Also the culprut of my weight gain over the past week.
They are this good:
For as long as I can remember the light in my mom's laundry room turned on with a pull string, and it never came right on, you had to tug just a little bit after you pulled. So Daniel and I did a little home improvement project one morning.
And mom was ever so happy!
On they way down we stopped in Riverton at the Homestead to see GG Frahm
They are both doing good, it's fun to visit with them, and hard to say goodbye.
Haleigh wanted to celebrate her birthday with her Grandparents and cousins. So we had Hansen's over for home made pizza's and brownies and home made icecream. She looks forward to making icecream with Grandpa.
Thanks for the party Grandma!
Thanks for the party Grandma!
We have this traveling clock in the Hansen family. And since Daniel and I were the last ones married (other than Eric who forfieted having the clock because he's out of the counry) we've had it for 12 years! So we got it out and fixed it up and applied some rules so we could pass it on to Brad and Jenaca, for which we traveled to Wyoming this time.
Mya with her own place, and pizza
This is the first year that Michael and Brennan aren't exactly the same height. Brennan is exactly 1 year older than Michael, so it makes me nervous about how much Michael will probably grow this year!
Then we headed to Lovell to get Grandma Hansen and head to Billings. We got to go to RimRock Mall where I grew up shopping for back to school etc. We haven't been for at least 10 years. It seems like more, but it was fun to go in there again. Still smells the same. :)
They have this new play area for little kids though, which was just what Mya needed after 3 more hours in the car.
We stayed the night at the Wyndam and it had this cool little water park attached. So me and the kids swam. Mya couldn't get enough of one of the slides, I think I took her down it 100 times at least. It was fun, there wasn't really anyone there.
The next morning we attended Brad & Jenaca's sealing and headed onto Powell for the reception that evening. (See Brad's wedding post)
On our way back we loaded up a little 5x8 Uhaul to bring some stuff back from my Grandma's house since moving into the Pioneer home. Tammy and Rick live on the way back, so we dropped off a cedar chest and a rocking chair for them and picked up a couch for Julie from them. We only stayed for a minute after all the unloading and reloading... we still had a good 8 hours to go.
