We had to start today pretty early. The boys had to put out some flags for scouts on their way up to the church to start cooking breakfast, so they left about 6:15am. Us girls left about 6:40am and walked up to the church to join the 5k race/walk that was going to be before breakfast. Haleigh and McKenna ran and I only got a picture because Colleen and I decided to do part of the loop backwards so we could run into them and see how they were doing. They were pretty hot and tierd, McKenna had a side ache and Haleigh's foot hurt. But they kept on going! :) Near the end, at the last water station, Haleigh ran through some rocks and a little too close to a cactus! Duck tape works pretty darn good for removing cactus from your skin, f.y.i. Then we ate the HUGE breakfast that Daniel and Michael helped prepare. They made a ton of food! Then there was a couple bounce houses w/ water and lots of games for the kids, and a photo booth which was really fun. Haleigh and I topped the morning off with a snow cone. Then I took the kids swimming with my friend Lisa and her kids all afternoon. After living in St. George for 10 years it was my first time on the hydrotube at the city pool. That thing is awesome! I had never even looked around the fence to see the end. It actually cooled down to just under 100 degrees this afternoon as a storm was blowing by, it never rained on us, but it sure looked like it could.

Fruits of our Labors!
We have been enjoying our garden SO much this year. We've had a ton of lettuce, herbs, radishes, carrots, green onions, white onions, tomatos... it's been so good! Here's one of my favorite things- fresh garden pizza! The kids say they love it too!

Slip-n-slide!
Michael was having a hard time building up enough courage to slide in his baseball games. So I suggested that he get the slip-n-slide out and practice! So Daniel, Michael, and Mya went outside while I went downtown with Jen and practiced. When we got back I caught this video of Daniel teaching Mya to slip-n-slide! Too funny. I guess she was LOVING it, but this was her last run.
ALSO... IT WORKED! Michael slid into home and was safe and scored during their last baseball game on his Dixie all-stars team!

Girls Camp 2010
FYI... camp turned out great. The girls had a blast and I think a lot of good things happened that mended some wrongs and new friendships were made. So yeh! We were at Little Thunder girls camp on Cedar Mountain and the theme was G.L.O.W in the dark. Glow Like Outstanding Women. It was a TON of work and I'm too exhausted to go on and on about it now, just wanted to document that I went this year and survived. :) Fearless leaders Pheobe, Deonn, Leahann, me and Tala

Brad's getting hitched!
I'M SO EXCITED! Tonight Daniel and Bret and I drove up Cedar Mountain to girls camp to set up our HUGE shade tent and a few tents for the older girls who went up earlier today. It's beautiful up there and nice and cool, it really got me excited to go up tomorrow. BUT, as soon as we got service back on our phones Daniel had a message from Jeanette and she said they, "had some news." Daniel was a little worried that something might be wrong with is mom... but I new better, I said, "I bet Brad's getting married." Daniel said, "No way!" (he still thinks Brad is 12) :) So we called Jeanette to see... AND I WAS RIGHT! Brad's getting married Aug 7th (THAT'S IN 1 MONTH!) It's so exciting to have the first of that generation be getting married. (I will have to remember that I'm just the grooms aunt, but I'm MORE than willing to help with whatever... we'll see if they need a cake)
The best part is just that we get to go to WYO to see our family. It's the week before school starts and that's EXACTLY when I wanted to go up anyway. Jeanette was worried we might not go because we have to go all the way to Billings. We wouldn't miss this for anything! We may have moved away, but we love our family and will be there!

Flag Cake 2010
Labels:
cake
I make a flag cake every year for the 4th. (or Flag day, memorial day, labor day, presidents day... you know... whenever we can get away with it cuz it's SO yummy!) I used to take it over to the Sevy's for Bret's big birthday bash, but since he turned 50 (a few years ago) they haven't done that. :( But when we got back from the lake we had a big meal with all their family and celebrated Bret's birthday (I think it was probably the 3rd time over the weekend) Colleen loved Channings wedding cake flavor so much she asked if I could make the flag cake like that... I figured I could, and it was extra yummy with all the fresh berries. I usually do a yellow cake with a raspberry jam filling and stabilized whip cream.
Lake Day!
Ya know our friends/neighbors The Sevy's? Well Grandpa Sevy went out on the lake on someone's boat and fell in love with it... so he bought a boat for the whole family so they'd take him out on it... so we got invited today to go out with them. We were very content to play in the water and build a sandcastle, but we did go out for a ride on the boat and ride the tube too. It was the best day! And JUST what I needed (to not think about girls camp for a day)
01 July 2010
It's July!
Unfortunatly I was asked to be the camp director for our ward this year and at the time I thought it was a good idea (THAT is yet to be determined this next week) But for this weekend it means we're not going to WYO or LAKE POWELL or VEGAS or CAMPING or ANYWHERE FUN. FREAK! I SERIOUSLY need to get away. Seriously, PRAY for these girls that they survive this next week with me.
... other than that... HAPPY 4th OF JULY! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
