Serving at the church farm

Our ward had a church farm assignment today to help prune the orchard. The trees had actually already been pruned professionally, we just needed to help clean up. The kids really got into it and it only took about 30 minutes to clean a whole row. The modified golf clubs they have make it really easy to grab and drag all the branches and limbs into the center of each row so they can be eatten up by a wood eatting machine of some sort I suppose. It was really fun and we look forward to LOTS of peaches this summer so we can go out on another assignment to thin and then pick peaches (and maybe eat a few too). Last summer there were not many peaches and almost all the picking assignments were cancelled. But this year we have had TONS of rain and the crop should be very plentiful! Let's hope it's a good garden year too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIDS!

Today is Julie and Daniel's birthday!
Daniel doesn't like birthday's but he plays along and lets us celebrate Julie's at least! 11years ago we went snowboarding (neither of us had snowboarded so we thought it'd be fun to learn togehter) in Wyoming for their birthdays... so we decided to do it again. Daniel's memory was that we weren't very good snowboarders so we decided to ski this year. I thought we were awesome snowboarders and had a hard time trying to decide, so since it was his birthday I let him choose! There was fresh powder and the weather was beautiful. Sure am glad that they let me come along to help celebrate!
(Thanks to Jen, Colleen, and Lisa for watching the kids)

Might I just add that Brian Head has NO CLUE what a black diamond run is. Julie and I easily cruised down every run they had to offer. And snowboarders kinda suck the fun out of the ski runs. But we had a blast... for a bunch of desert rats playing in the snow! :) Thanks to Carrie for making a cake. She's pretty good in the kitchen (and let's face it, I can't make them ALL!)

Valentine's Day

I'm not really "into" Valentine's day. I guess I consider it more of just a school holiday... I got burned out in High School with TOO many valentines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
But I took this picture of Mya in her heart dress that used to be Haleigh's and remembered I had this picture of Haleigh too. So here they are... little twiners! Michael thinks Mya needs a tan! :)
Haleigh had a really cute valentine box this year it was a rubic's cube. She had her party at school friday. Saturday our poor little basketball game was missing 3 guards and they lost to their friends (no thanks to the sucky refs) The first 1/2 of the game was awesome and tied 11-11 but then the whole thing just fell apart.
We went to Texas Road House for our Valentine Dinner. Thanks Daniel for being sweet and taking us out! He even made pancakes for lunch on Sunday... 9:00 church is too early at our house for breakfast! :)

It's a SURPRISE!

I can't say who this cake is for... because it's for a SURPRISE poker party for his 30th birthday! How fun, huh? This is actually the 3rd cake I've made for this family. THANKS for being my 3-peat customer! You know who you are! ;)

VIRUS

So we caught a virus on our computer. EW! It wanted us to buy some security tool thing for about $50 and wouldn't let us use anything on our desktop til it we bought it. We're smarter than the average bear though... so we unplugged it and took it to the computer connection and VIOLA! We're cured. That's why no posts for awhile. We just got it back today with some extra RAM too. So we're BACK!

6th grade Basketball

So after our wonderful first tackle football experience it was time for BASKETBALL! It was a few weeks before Christmas and we had received our roster and schedule but no one had called about any practices and it was TUES. and the first game was SAT.! I called the city and no one had come forward to coach, so I said, "Put my name down, we're having practice today". THANK GOODNESS Jen had just married Jimmy and he was VERY excited about helping me. It's worked out really good. We lost that first game and one since the new year so we're 6-2. THEN a few weeks ago it was time for team pictures. Long story short I refuse to pay more for pictures than I did to even play in the league. So we took our own team picture at practice and everyones individual and I came up with my own "Memory Mate" for each of the boys. I LOVE PSE! (see the kid next to Jimmy in the back? Yah, I photoshopped him in!) AND it only costs $1.50 each instead of the bargain from the "professional" photographer for $20.
It's been pretty fun. The boys are pretty goofy when I run practice by myself, and they think Jimmy is pretty RAD!
