Faculty workshop August 2025

The August 2025 faculty workshop was structured as five days of morning sessions. The primary report on the workshop this term was produced in the form of a presentation . The Tuesday morning session was well attended. Attendance decreased with each day. The Friday session was for new instructors only. Tuesday afternoon I presented on Google Workspace. This presentation was a reworking of a presentation first put together in July 2022. The presentation was reworked again in August 2023. The presentation was then updated for an online presentation to non-instructional employees in July 2025. Non-instructional employees also attended a second session that focused on Google Forms . Further updates were made for a presentation to faculty in August 2025. Wednesday program assessment summaries.

Faculty development day began with departmental informational updates from the office of the president, enrollment management and student services, institutional effectiveness and quality assurance, cooperative research and extension, and administration.  The workshop evaluation asked faculty to respond to prompts by agreeing or disagreeing with the prompt. The responses were converted to numeric values: Strongly disagree Disagree Neutral Agree Strongly agree With 14 responses recorded, averages were calculated for each prompt.  Results by individual prompts for each session With all of the averages above four, faculty generally agreed or strongly agreed with the prompt. The overall average was 4.51. Averages close to 4.51 are yellow, averages elevated above 4.51 are green, averages below 4.51 are shades of orange. Faculty development workshop 06 - 07 August

The second day of faculty development workshops at the national campus began with program assessment summaries. That afternoon the workshop considered the assessment data and worked on planning and reflection. On Wednesday morning the workshop looked at the suggested program schedule in the catalog. The workshop evaluation asked faculty to respond to prompts by agreeing or disagreeing with the prompt. The responses were converted to numeric values: Strongly disagree Disagree Neutral Agree Strongly agree With 18 responses recorded, averages were calculated for each prompt by session. The overall average was 4.35. In general faculty agreed or strongly agreed with the prompts. Differences in the means between prompts were not large.   In the Tuesday morning session, the last prompt on the evaluation was the lowest rating for any of the prompts across both days. With all of the averages above four, faculty generally agreed or strongly agreed with the prompt. The strongest agreement was that the morning presentations were informative. A systemwide workshop for faculty was held on 03 January 2023 covering the following topic areas: Student Orientation in Canvas Online Course Effectiveness  Google Slides  Canvas interface updates Updates on processing of ordering textbooks  Informed Academic Advising by Office of Admissions and Records  Student Financial Student Aid informed academic advising  Counseling collaboration with faculty and academic advisors  Nuro Retention  A follow-up survey asked whether the presentation was informative with multiple choice response options of Strongly agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly disagree, and Did not attend.  Respondents tended to usually respond with Agree or Strongly agree. Faculty workshop evaluation Canvas August 2022

An online faculty workshop was held on August second and third. A multiple choice post-workshop was administered with the following rating scale: Strongly disagree Disagree Neutral Agree Strongly agree Not applicable was a non-scored answer option. For a sample size of 48 respondents, the overall mean on all statements was a 4.22 with a sample standard deviation of 0.68.  As is also typically seen in student responses on evaluation surveys ,  there is a tendency to agree or strongly agree with a statement on a survey.
