The Improved Emperor's Guide to Tamreil

Earlier this week I bought this beautiful faux leather art book called The Improved Emperor's Guide to Tamriel with a Christmas book token. The book is jam packed full of illustrations that just scream out to me modelled as wargame terrain and I am looking forward to sketching some very soon.

These two images, show just some of the content. There are hundreds of pages showing art from the computer game Skrym.

Thanks Mum for the book taken - it has been well used.

An interesting YouTube post featuring my Skrym gaming board

Earlier this month I was browsing YouTube when I came across this tutorial showing how to paint a fantasy house for D&D or Frostgrave. The tutorial has many of the techniques I use when painting my scratch built terrain, but that's not the reason I am featuring it here on my Blog.

The author has decided to use one of my magazine articles as a background - namely the construction of my Skrym or Modiphius Games gaming table that I built some time ago. For more information on the magazine article/articles, see these two posts here and here. which show the construction and then the painting of this board.

You can see the YouTube tutorial from JH Miniatures showing how he painted his fantasy house here and my Miniature Wargames magazine article in the background. I went back over some of his earlier tutorials to see if he used any more of my magazine articles as background but couldn't find any. I just found it funny that my MW article/tutorial was used in this way and thought it was worth posting here.....

I have seen many of my models featured in various YouTube and 'other' internet posts over the years and think it is something of a complement. If any readers know of any others, please post details here.

Eldar Scrolls gaming board featured in Wargames Illustrated issue 409

The latest issue of Wargames Illustrated (issue 409 - January 2022) page 52, features the Eldar Scrolls gaming board that I built back in 2020 for Modiphius Entertainment. I have commented on this build in previous posts, but I have to say it is one of my favourite commissions and I doubt I will ever get bored of posting links to the finished table and the articles showing how it was built.

For more information, follow the Modiphius links - here.

Eldar Scrolls Gaming Table featured at Salute 2021

Today's post features a model that I built over two years ago and which has already featured on this Blog - a display board commissioned by Modiphius Games for Eldar Scrolls or Skrym.

The board was one of two display boards that I built for Modiphius and was originally commissioned and constructed for Salute 2020. However as we all know Salute 2020 was postponed due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. Details of the construction and the painting were featured in Miniature Wargames issue 452 and 543. For more details see these Blog posts here and here.

In 2021 Salute was once again postponed but did eventually go ahead earlier this month. Over the last couple of days I have found images and You Tube reports of the show which feature this Eldar Scrolls board and have included the links and time stand for you to check out the board.

Salute Round up 1 minute, 30 seconds.

Salute 2021 Report 21 minutes, 10 seconds.

The best tables at Salute 2021 10 minutes, 20 seconds.

Salute 2021 7 minutes, 39 seconds.

In The Studio 1 minute, 33 seconds.

Finally, I would ask all readers of this Blog to comment if they have found any other images of the gaming table.

Thank you.

Eldar Scrolls Ruined Tower

Back in late 2019 I was approached by Modiphius Entertainment to build a pair of gaming boards and a couple of resin terrain pieces, after sending and receiving a number of e-mails with various sketches and designs, I was commissioned to build two gaming boards an Eldar Scrolls Ruins board with modular walls and two towers and a Bleak Barrow Falls board as featured in the computer game.

Issue 446 of Miniature Wargames (June 2020) features details of how I built and painted the largest ruined tower from the Eldar Scrolls Ruins board while the image above shows just some of the pieces on the 1mtr x 1mtr sculpted board.

The walls and towers were built over a core of corrugated cardboard and cardboard tubes with blue foam stonework and MDF bases.

For full details of the magazine see this link.

Hopefully, more images will appear on the Modiphius web pages very soon. Stay safe and

Keep Calm and Carry On Modelling.
