Its one of THOSE Mommy posts
She is potty training people.
The most stubborn Strong-willed almost 3yr old child. on. the. planet. Has decided that wearing panties and peeing in "da-tolet" is pretty cool.
Its pretty cool guys. Just ask Makenna.
They have to be princess panties though. Hello Kitty panties are for the birds.
Did I mention stubborn strong-willed?

On Being A Bully
Riley Came up tome a couple days ago after having a hard couple days listening and obeying her parents. I was at the end of my very very short-tempered rope and had raised my voice a few(thousand) times. She said to me..
"Mom, so you know that Heavenly Father said to be nice to people and that we need to not be bullies. So next time when I or Mak is bad you just need to smile and laugh and be happy at us and not be a bully so you don't make Heavenly Father sad."
I kind of couldn't believe it and had to keep back the laughter as I responded...
"Yes Bug, I know I shouldn't be mean. But you know that Heavenly Father also said that you need to listen obey and be nice to your mommies and daddies. So when you don't do those things it makes him sad too."
This is what she said. "Oh....."
Nice try Bug.

Mothering
Yesterday Riley and I played a little game that her primary teacher sent her class home with to play with their mothers. It was basically don't drop the balloon but with paper plate paddles. After you hit the balloon 5 times in a row you would ask each other a question. I asked the scripted questions they gave out while I let Riley make up her own. She asked me some really great questions but my favorite one to answer was "Mommy, what do you like about being a mommy?' It was fun watching her face as I told her that I loved the kisses and hugs I get non stop from her and her sister. Telling her that I loved watching her grow up and get big and learn new things. telling her that I love watching her make friends like it was the easiest thing she has ever done.( Seriously, haven't met a kid yet, of any age, that hasn't fallen in love with Bug in 2 seconds flat. She didn't get this from me. I have a hard time making new friends. I want that talent bad!)
It was just what I needed to hear from myself yesterday. Perfect timing Bug. Great question! I loved that when she asked the question I was able to verbally remind myself why I love being a Mommy. Sometimes it gets lost in the shuffle and sometimes I feel claustrophobic from all the kisses and hugs I just have to remind myself, like I did yesterday, that its kind of the best.

Bug
So I haven't posted in forever but lets just pretend I have and that this isn't awkward. I will hopefully start posting more updates because Rudger hasn't gotten nearly as much air time as he deserves. But today I decided that I needed to post because what Riley Bug said today needed to be recorded.
Bug- Mom when I grow up I am going to have 100 babies. And I will have 100 beds. And I will have a big long table with 100 chairs.
So in the very far away future she tells me she is done after one I will remind her of this.

A Brave Girl A Tooth and A Lame Tooth Fairy
This is so late....
I am behind on pretty much
every.
thing.
in life right now.
Totally undependable. But I have a very sweet very cute very smiley, sweet boy to blame.
Shameless.
So remember that time I wrote about the Bug and her loose tooth?
She lost it THAT DAY!
I couldn't even believe it.
She asked Dale to "Wiggle it back and forth and twist it until it is out!"
She was so determined. I was afraid though that when it got right down to it that she would be terrified to have her tooth ripped out. I know I always was. But this girl surprised the heck out of us and was fearless. When Dale was about to give up and let the tooth come out a little more naturally Riley would make sure that he was not done until that tooth came out!
Where on EARTH did she get her stubborn from? HA!
So Dale did as he was told, like a good Daddy should and didn't stop (it took a whole minute) until that little tooth was out!
She was so happy and so dang proud that she didn't cry or get scared, not even once!
She was so excited to put her tooth under her pillow and wait for the tooth fairy to bring her money to her. And when she woke up in the morning she was so excited to go to her teacher and show off her cute toothless grin!
When she came home that day she had a tooth sticker stuck to her shirt and fun book about losing teeth!
Oh ya... The lame tooth fairy.
He/she almost blew the FIRST LOST TOOTH.
Parents of the year award goes to us.
We were so exhausted that night that we went to bed early and totally forgot to do our duties until we woke up with Rudger for a 5:00 feeding. Dale hopped out of bed as fast as he could got the money and made the switch. Luckily she was asleep because normally she is up by then. (how did i make a early riser? that so does not come from me.)
All was well but we felt a little guilty all day. She didn't know the first bit of difference and was so happy in the morning when she found her money.

The Story About Baby Teeth
Riley found her first loose tooth today and she is so excited and cant stop talking all about all things teeth. This is the story we heard this afternoon.
Daddy, when Rudger was in Heaven, Heavenly Father took out all his teeth and it hurt him. And He cried a little. But when Rudger gets to one year old he can have all his teeth back!
That girl cracks me up!

Life Lately
These past three weeks our lives have been totally turned around as we adjust to life as a family of 5.
Its all about Rudger lately.
Who gets to hold him, kiss him, rock him, feed him (me) and when/if its gonna happen.
There has been a lot of lounging in jammies, a lot of playing with all the fun toys the girls got for Christmas and a lot of cuddling.
(he loves to stare at the tree with its lights on. i don't think i am ever going to be able to take it down)
We are loving every minute of it.

28 NOT 29
Dear Dale,
I know I keep aging you a year (or 2) and I am sorry. I just have fun teasing you that you will be 30 WAY earlier than me. and by "WAY" i mean ONLY 3 and a half years so i will get what's coming to me. don't worry i can take it. And because I keep aging you we BOTH keep forgetting how old you are actually turning.....
But today is your birthday and I know we cant do much due to the fact that we are in the hospital (or barely home) holding our precious CHUNKY little boy and I know that this is just what you wanted for your birthday so i know you are nowhere disappointed but I just wanted to make sure I wrote you a little public love letter of sorts. Since you know how good i am at showing my affection publicly... HA!
You are the most amazing husband and father. The girls are so lucky to have you in their lives and I am just as lucky that I get to watch you with them. They adore you and you, very willingly return the adoration. I see how in love with them you are and nothing makes me happier.
I am so glad that we now have Rudger and I get to watch you raise a son. He has the most amazing example of a father that anyone could have. He is the luckiest little boy on earth. I hope he grows up to be JUST like you. (Seriously the girls have enough of me in them that a little clone of you running around the house would be SO very welcome. And I am sure you would like someone who could help shoulder the responsibilities of the dirty dishes ;))
I hope that I am able to make your birthday special and let you know how much i love you and how glad i am that you were born 28 (not 29) years ago.
Love,
Your wife!

Where Do Kids Get This Stuff
We are in the car yesterday and Riley Bug was telling Dale and I all about how she was a baby "yesterday"
(what term she uses to describe any time in her life that she cant remember)
Dale had asked her a couple questions and the rest went like this...
Bug- Ya, yesterday when I was a baby I wore a diaper like Mak.
Dale- You did, huh?
Bug- Yep!
Dale- Well, did you poop in your diaper?
Bug- You bet I did!!
Yep.
I have no idea where she gets this stuff...
