I am happy to share this tribute portrait of my very missed niece Kathy.  This is a gift of mine to my sister Anna for her birthday next week :)

A portrait of a young boy, Jack, He is the brother of the little girl I painted last year, Elsie. He is a big Star Wars fan, so I was asked to put him in a Jedi costume with an outer space background! I must admit he was tricky to get right but I got there in the end :)

The Armada Portrait

A painting of Elizabeth I about the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. She cradles an English Galleon, and in the background rages a stormy sea.

A last minute commission for Christmas I received yesterday (from my solicitor!) and completed today.

Little Girl

This is a portrait commission I just finished. I've been home for 2 days due to the wonderful snowstorm that hit the Midwest and instead of slaving over a boring computer at work, I've gotten to paint. Yay snow!

King Priam

ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolor and gouache, 2009.

In mythology Priam was King of Troy. He had fathered over 50 children, among them Paris, Hector, Cassandra and Laodice. After Achilles kills Hector and refuses to return the body, Priam leaves the safety of troy and enters Achilles camp to beg for the return of his son's body. Achilles relents and Hector's body is given a proper funeral. Priam is later killed by Achilles son Neoptolemus during the sacking of Troy.
