WHN here- I just wanted to give everyone in Blogville a virtual hug and a huge thank you. The past two weeks have been very difficult for me- Chip was my tough guy and my protector from all enemies foreign and domestic and I was heartbroken that I had to have him put down. I felt as if I had failed him and in my heart I always will feel that, to a degree. Chip was a loving boy but his past proved to be too big a hurdle for him, and so he now resides at the Rainbow Bridge, trauma free and happy. I will always miss him.
Geoff brought him home Wednesday and his urn is with those of Ginger and Thai. (Anna Rose is next to her Daddy's side of the bed)
Your phone calls, emails, cards have helped both Geoff and myself get through this. We were speechless with shock at your kind words and thoughtful actions in this period of mourning. Our lives have gone on, as have those of the new DWM- Tasha, Snoopy and Anna 2. Buddy is still with us, and we think that he has fallen for Anna as he and she are inseparable!
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart- Our Blogville family is simply wonderful- words to describe how wonderful simply do not exist in the English language

Looking for Love!!!!!
Did you know that our Mayoress is hostessing the bash of the season? That's right- Our very own Diva is hostessing the Queen of Hearts Ball on Valentine's Day? The excitement in Blogville is rising on an hourly basis and we are here to spread the word and to ask some lovely residents of Blogville to be our dates!
First up is J. Snoopington Puppy, aka SNOOPY!!!! Snoopy is our resident piebald and the St Louis boytoy of Muffin! As a member of the Blogville Police Department he is smart and will be a great protector of Muffin, so her Dad will not have to worry about her at all!
Muffin, will you go to the ball with me?
Next up is our J. Chippington Puppy, aka Chip- he like Snoopy is a member of BPD and takes his duties seriously. He is enamored of Mon'as sister Miss Prissy, that devastatingly beautiful red long furred dachshund living in Texas!
Miss Prissy, will you accompany me to the Ball?
Third, is Tasha, Queen of the Urban Jungle. She is the beloved of Shiloh of Team Beaglebratz and this Valentine's Day is their second anniversary! however, she is still waiting for her beau to ask her to the ball!
Now, as Blogville knows, the DWM pack has two new members- Anna, the snausagesque black and tan beauty who rules her Daddy with her short fur covered paw, and Hope, our double dapple foster who works at BPD as the office manager. (Anna is on rodent patrol for BPD, in charge of squirrel and bunny patrol) . We don't want these two beauties to sit home on Valentine's Day, now do we? All applicants will have to undergo the rigorous BPD screening process, followed by the even more excruciating Daddy process, first instituted in Blogville by Taffy's Dad! Who's up for the challenge? Both these girls can dance! Both have healthy appetites and appreciate a great treat! Neither have pawticipated in adult beverages, so be careful!
NEXT UP- we have taken the liberty of cutting and pasting the deadlions for the ball so we all know when to have our photos in and to whom! Hurry! These deadlions are non negotiable and we don't want anyone to miss out on the fun!!!

Product Review! Dogids great collar!
Yes Blogville, we the DWM have a post for you today! (WHN has been taking her medicine every day and is feeling better- so much so that she will be in her sewing room to make the placemats for the winners of Sallie's auction and the quilt for Ginger Jasper, starting tomorrow!! We are happy that she is getting better, and that is shows!)
Several months ago, WHN received an email asking if she would review a new dog collar for us and she agreed to do so- She placed the order online as instructed and when the collar arrived, she was blown away- she loved the collar and it was so much nicer than the website illustrations! WHN had been asked to review the ToughHound All Sports Collar made by Dogids. She dithered as usual, having to choose which one of us would be her model and Chip won the coin toss! WHN ordered the collar in a size 12, after carefully measuring Chip's neck, and chose the bright yellow to match his Hug a Dog harness. What is great about the collar is that the id tag is part of the collar, so Chip does not have to wear a tag with his name and phone number on it. The tag includes four lines for the name and contact info, so there will be one less tag on the collar itself to get caught while we are rough housing! Considering we are dachsies, this also takes weight off of our necks! The metal tag does not add any weight to the collar and is scratchproof! The collar itself is odor and water proof and easy to keep clean- just a simple wipe down every week during our bath routine. The only downside for WHN is the cost- it is $29.99 per collar. Since all three of us suffer from skin issues of some kind or another, this collar is fabulous- NO HAIR LOSS due to the collar!!! (Snoopy has lost almost all of his chest hair in front due to irritation from his current collar and tags- guess
what he is getting next month!)
This collar is perfect for the DWM- wears well and is easy to keep clean. We give it five paws up and Tasha and Snoopy will be getting theirs as soon as the taxes are done!)

Chip- AND A Fearless Five Quilt blog mention!!!!
My Chip a Dee Doo Da, the scourge of the USPS and UPS, as well as all enemies foreign and domestic, had a good night. He ate his dinner, as previously noted, and was given a half tablet of Tramadol in a pill pocket, to keep him comfy last night. We incorrectly thought that he would sleep in Thai's rolling camouflage command post next to my side of the bed, due to the wearing of the Cone of Fame (Thai sleeps in Ginger's pink command post located next to my side of the bed, so that he is seen in public in his macho man rolling throne- NOT going to ruin his manly reputation) NOOOOOOO!!!! We had to sleep curled up next to the Mom person and keep her up all night as we tried to find a comfy position under the covers for the COF. I gave up all pretence of sleep at 3:36 AM and just lay there so Chip could relax and finally catch some ZZZZZ's. He had bouts of shivering between his bouts of grogginess- typical post surgical reaction, and what I did not expect from him. Kept him rolled up in blankies while the shivering passed and then he would sleep with his elevated by the COF. This morning he ate his breakfast (at least the canned) but did not pee or poop- AND he can get the COF open! He is going to be a handful but he is doing much better. Gave him a second half tablet of Tramadol to keep him calm so that he does not try to lick his stitches since the COF is not going to be the deterrent we had hoped it would be!
Just glad he is home! Test results on the cyst due late this week or early next week, but I am not worried.
Chip is Chipper!
Check out the blog post from Peggy Frezon, about the Fearless Five Quilt- Peggy donated several gorgeous blocks to our quilt and has a wonderful blog, which we of course follow! Hurry up, check out the ost and follow her blog!

Chip, and a Fearless Five Quilt update
Today, my Chip a Dee Doo Da, had to go to the VET for his dental and to have a rather large cyst removed from the left side of his abdomen. He did very well and is now home, sleeping on the couch watching Season 5 of Psych with the rest of the DWM. He has a rather large incision on his left flank and is wearing a cone of shame so as to keep him from licking it. We hope it heals quickly. No running or playing for three to five days, and he has his stitches removed on the 14th! My personal security guard, who could teach the Secret Service a thing or two, is home with his Momma and will be spoiled as he recovers.
I have started assembling the top of the quilt, which I hope to mail to our beloved quilter, Cindy, on Saturday! One more quilt block, from Nubbins' Tails, is en route and once it arrives it will be included in the quilt top and off she goes!

Santa Paws!!!!

Thai's First Christmas with us! |
![]() |
Ginger telling Santa what she really wants! |
Saturday, What's her Name and Dad took us to see Santa Paws! Thai dressed up like the great man himself, even outshining him to such a degree that his photo had to be retaken! Ginger and Chip were old hands at this, since they went through it last year, which was Chip's first Christmas with us. This year, it is Thai's first Christmas! Then, we had a snackielicious treat at McDonald's before we had What's Her Name and Dad take us Christmas shopping- we had to pick up Dad's gifts from us before Mom forgot (or before another snow stomr hit) We had saved up over 87 million green papers for these gifts too- we have a very stingy allowance. Then we went home and guarded these gifts while we were cruelly abandoned so our pawrents could do some more shopping at WalMart.
Sunday was ho hum- Ginger peed under the tree again, and Dad was not happy- he had to take apart his layout and move the tree so the bed sheet could get washed again. Then Mom and Dad went into the crawl space to find MORE Christmas stuff and then they put it on the tree- now they have to find the star. Thai has his own orament- a glass dachshund from Target. We also had to go out and get gas in the car and to the library so Mom could get her book- the last book of the Twilight series. Mom is weird- she LOVES vampire, werewolf and zombie movies! (more on this later)
Today, while the 87 feet of snow hit Ohio (pray for Frankie- too many snow man poops are coming down and he is getting more than we are), Mom is going to do laundry, wrap our gifts for Dad and finally write out their Christmas cards! Hopefully Dad will be home soon- a train derailed again at the Willard hump yard and he had to go out even earlier than usual in the snow storm.
Back to Mom- she read the entire book in one day- 756 pages long! Yes, Mom is a super reader, but when she really gets into something like this, she just reads up a storm- took her till 11 PM last night (she started at 1:30 in the afternoon, and folded laundry and helped Dad too).
Anyway, Mom got hurt a long time ago, when she was 14, and this has always made her very unhappy. She was watching the Twilight movies last week (her BFF has been bugging her to watch them and read the books) and she started to cry and could not stop Thursday and Friday. It was very weird for us- she was so unhappy and none of us could fix it for her, not even Dad. She even started to write down what was making her unhappy and she gave it to Dad to read Saturday, and Mom started to cry even more. See, the movies and books triggered the memories of what happened when she got hurt, even some she had not remembered all these years, and she and Dad talked all weekend. She had a lot of hurt and anger to talk about and how she felt like used goods, and about how her world had been shattered and only Dad had ever made her feel special and like a lady. (Dad knew most of this anyway- ) It's one of the reasons she won't have anything to do with her brothers and sisters- Mom has been seeing doctors for several years now and it has helped, but this Twilight stuff really made a difference for her this last weekend. She didn't have any nightmares Saturday or Sunday either. She told Dad he was very much like Edward AND Jacob, but without being a vampire or werewolf, and he knew what she meant. See, when Mom gets depressed, she cries a lot, and tries to hide it from Dad, like she did Thrusday and Friday, but he always knows. She said having us around all day helps even more- we lick away her tears and keep her warm and afe- especially Chip. When Mom cries, he gets very protective, just like Jacob! Anyway- that's what has been bothering Mom - it doesn't happen every week, but when her depression hits, it comes out of nowhere now and can last a long time. Don't worry- she has been getting better- she is not taking medicine either, and she is starting to heal - She had thought she was over this, but the saga triggered something buried very deep down and made her face up to it so she could put it to rest once and for all.

Taz update
As everyone knows, Taz (or Tazmanian Dogville, as Dad called him) was adopted and now has a great furrever home in Pennsylvania!!!!! He has a younger brother, Archie Bean, who is also a DRNA rescue, and both love each other to pieces. Taz is continuing in his quest for Olympic and world records- the latest are in high jumping. He has been so active that his family had to buy a 40 inch tall gate to keep him safe and away from the front door! Taz loves taking baths with his brother and has become a Daddy's boy. Have no fear, his Momma gets lots of kisses in the morning when she gets up. He and MR. Bean sleep in the big bed, curled up next to their Mom. Soemtimes, Taz takes overs her pillow!!!! He is well loved by both his two legger and four legger families. Once Mom gets some photos of him, she will post them. Taz is on facebook with his friend, Archie, on his Mom's page. Email Mom for that info- trainwife1962 at hotmail dot com.
Chip and Ginger are doing great with the Versatile K9 training sessions!!!! Ginger is working very hard on "place" and "come" and what a difference! Chip is improving daily on his walkies and no more problems at home with Dad or the couch!!!! NO MORE FRONT DOOR problems with any of the DWM!!! Chip waits in the living room when Mom opens the front door and will only come out after Mom is on the porch and she calls him from there. Ginger still tries to get out before Mom but she is losing that battle.
going back inside, Chip stays on his porch blanket until Mom is back inside and calls for him! Ginger is too busy trying to track down Taz's bunny, but she is good at the froint door too. Chip can go outside and not bark at our neighbors when they are on their own lawns. He is a MUCH happier dachsie too. If you live in Northeast Ohio, check out Versatile K9, or look up Scott VanDenHaute
Thai is a trooper- running around everywhere and keeping up with the pack. He went to Tuesday's class at Versatile K9 and was a very good boy- making friends with the other dogs who were boarding there and just being Thai. Loves his stroller, which helps since he gets fussy when his arthritis pain kicks in. He has his after dinner nap in it and he loves having it.
Dog park adventures keep happening- Dad and Mom take us to the park every weekend!!! We love to run around and roll in the grass- and lots of great new smells. We heard them telling us that we would be going every weekend, as long as the weather is good.
Check out our videos on YouTube- Mom has it under trainwife1962. Our new blog friend Twinkiedog has checked us out and left comments!

Chip and Ginger- training day
Yesterday Chip and Ginger had their first training with Scott VanDenHaute, owner and trainer extarordinaire of VersatileK9, Northeast Ohio's best training and behaviorist program for canines. He is affiliated with Cesar Milan, which is a bonus!!!
Mr. Scott (that is what MOM says we have to call him) was great- he certainly had Mom's number and started off training her!!!! :) The three of us worked on us going to a "Place" when the doorbell rings and Mom goes to answer it. it wasn't too hard, but STAYING was, especially for Ginger!!!! We worked our tails off for an hour and then Mr. Scott had to leave. He will be emailing homework to Mom and we see him again in two weeks.
Today the Mom Monster had us doing "Place" for 87 thousand million hours!!!! She took all of our favorite pillows and blankies and made us "Place" on each one, and then "Stay". We only got treats if we did it completely right. That is so unfair!!!! Chip got more treats than Ginger!!!! Mom even used the couch as a place for us!!!!
We heard the MM (Mom Monster) telling Dad that she plans on working us to death after Rush Limbaugh is over at 3, and then again when she gets home from her prayer shawl group tonight!
HELP!!!!
