On Friday I set out to cycle to every village in the Cynon Valley. I wanted to launch my campaign in a unique way, get out and meet voters and highlight some of the terrific walking and cycling routes we have in the Cynon Valley. I'll post a series of blogs on the trip, because I think it really did highlight the best of the Valley's green spaces.
I begun at home at 8.30 in Penderyn.

By nine o'clock I had cycled over the Foel to Rhigos. The scenery was truly stunning and I was pleased to be met in Rhigos by a number of local residents who are campaigning against the Envioparks development. The committee campaigning against the development are doing excellent work and I know that Rita Moses and Karen Morgan are supporting them in their work.

Next stop was Hirwaun where I was delighted to meet Karen Morgan (and her dog sbwc) on the newly designated Hirwaun Village Green. The Village Green has been used for generations by Hirwaun residents for recreation activities (I remember playing there as a child), and the site of the old Ironworks was threatened by development. Against all the odds Karen Morgan and the local residents ran a terrific campaign culminating in a public inquiry which found in the residents favour. It was an enormous amount of work, led by a 100% dedicated Plaid Cymru councillor, and because of it the Village Green will now be enjoyed by local residents for generations to come.
