Happy October everyone!
So....yeah
into week 5 in the CCM and things have definitely gotten better hear.
My fellow missionaries are starting to get into the missionary spirit
now, especially my companion. I've been sharing little things with him
here and there, but then yesterday our tarde maestro took him aside and
talked to him for a little bit. He came back a little bit stuffy and was
crying just a tad, and the way that he has coducted himself has been
such an improvement. Hes definitely had a change in heart and decided to
finally started his mission.
Anyways. This week has been so full of spiritual messages and things that I've learned that I don't know where to begin.
The
top thing that I've learned this week is that the first convert on our
mission needs to be ourselves. We've been taught this the whole time
that I've been here, but I didn't understand why until this week. When
we are converted, we are trying to do everything we can to become more
like Christ. We feel that in the very deepest part of our souls that the
things that we learn in the church are true. We know that there is
literally no doubt that Jesus is our Savior and redeemer. When we have
that deep of a conversation, we will always have the spirit within us
and when we have that, we are able to teach what the spirit wants us to
teach. And the people that we are communicating with will be able to
feel that spirit emanating from us and will be able to feel of that
witness that these things are true. That this is the true church.
Second,
fasting brings blessings. This fast Sunday I fasted to be able to
connect with the interested persons more so that I can teach them
better. The day after I was teaching Jesús (aka our afternoon teacher)
and right after I said the opening prayer the thought came to me, ask
him why his job is so hard. Every time we teach him he says that his job
isn't that good, and we just say lo siento and continue on with the
lesson, but I asked him this time and as he answered I realized that I
was going about this all wrong. Each person has their own struggles, and
through those struggles and applying gospel principles, they're
personal testimony can grow so much stronger than if we just go through
the lessons. So you could say that there's two lessons is that one.
Fasting brings blessings, and always ask the deeper questions.
