Well folks, I am a card carrying member of the "Stitcher's Slump" club. I haven't put needle to fabric in weeks. I even received a package of stash and I can't even work up the enthusiasm to photograph my haul for all of you. I think I feel faint - must be stitcher's flu. Do you think that they make an antibiotic for that?
Ohhhhhh, the title of this post - on to that. I have, however, been reading up a storm. Be it an audio book on my snazzy new iPod or that stack from the library. I just finished Janet Evanovich's "Finger Lickin' Fifteen" today and boy was it a laugh riot. I highly recommend it to those of you who have kept up with the series, and for you Janet E. newbies - what are you waiting for? Run to the library/bookstore and check out "One For The Money". I was hoping that some of you might be willing to recommend some titles to add to my summer reading pile. So far I have the following books on the stack:
"My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult recommended by my friend Bridget
"The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith receommended by my friend Linda L.
"Tears Of The Giraffe" also by Alexander McCall Smith (Thanks Linda for loaning this one to me)
"The Sweetness At The Bottom Of The Pie" by Alan Bradley
"The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
Whew, that's a lot, but I did read "Finger Lickin' Fifteen" in one afternoon so I think that I am up to the task. Please please please share your ideas with me. It's going to be a long, hot summer!

I love Debbie MacComber's Ceder Cove Series and her Blossom Street Series...excellent...and theres a lot of books in both series ;)
The First 5 People you meet in Heaven, is great too...I could go on and on and on...well one more series...Jan Karon writes about Mitford in a big series based on Father Tim. HEAVENLY!
The best book I have read/listened to this summer has been The Help by Kathryn Stockett. My all time favorite series is The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon with the first book being aptly named "Outlander." Very good LONG historical fiction novels set mostly in Scotland that I am re-reading this summer in anticipation of the seventh book due out in September. Love, love, love this series of books!
Your last two are on my "to read list". I read the ladies no1 detective agency book...and I normally love mysteries, but found it a little slow.
I read Water For Elephants this summer and it was captivating!
LOVED My Sister's Keeper!! Best book I've ever read! I also highly recommend the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson.
I tried knitting and crochet and stuff like that and found...I suck at it. But I still keep trying.
I too have read the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. It was a number of years ago but I still remember reading them...such a good author and a very "feel good" read. I also read "The Mercy of Thin Air" but I forget who wrote it. I have sent it on to PA for my sister-in-law to read. If you are going to set the stitching aside for a bit then reading a good book (or two) is the best excuse I can think of!
It's ok to take a stitching break, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a slump. You have some great books in that list, ENJOY! And when you're ready that needle will start smoking again.
