not a card

MMSC#81 sketch this week is the layout I used on this calender - the simple one. Another of Delicious Doodles' images, "Winter's Wonder". I saw this in their blog hop the other day and had to have it - The Snow Leopard did it for me. I coloured the image using some metallic pencils, cut it out and mounted onto a lace covered lilac card stock then framed her with some bronze glimmer misted purple. Bronze and purple dewdrops to finish. This was then all mounted onto a pearlised bronze paper which in turn was mounted onto more bronzed purple. The ribbon and lace trim and dewdrops are all from Crafty Feelings.

The corrugated card, eyelets etc all from stash.

I am entering this into the challenge over on Midnight Madness - their sketch #81
Make it Crafty have an "Anything but a Card" challenge so entering this into that as well.

Give Thanks

Yep - Friday already!! The challenge over at Tellen's Place this week is aimed at "Giving Thanks".
Not just for the American Thanksgiving but for other 'thankyou's as well.
I had great fun and a little giggle with my DT piece for this challenge. The sequence just wouldn't leave my head so I had to go with it.
A waterfall card..... sideways........

It's the journey of that turkey to the table .......

with Gretchen doing the honours

All ready for the table :)

There are loads of tutorials over on youtube for making waterfall cards, so I won't bore you with another here. A cardmakers version of the old Flick books.

I used a pearlised brown cardstock for the base, layered with burnt orange then a yellow from the DCWV citrus range with circles on it (harvest time/circle of life). The images printed onto white and coloured with promarkers and ink distressed with pale orange.
The ribbon for the tags and brads from stash, the flower from Crafty Feelings.
SO
Get your thankful foot forward and let's see your projects.
Terry's organised a fantastic prize of a $20 gift card from Scrapbooking.com! To get you started with inspiration, there are two freebies available as well over at Tellen's Place!

I am entering this into the challenge over at The ABC Challenges - H for Holiday
Also The Papertake Weekly Challenge - Autumn Skies
The Creative Card Crew - They are having a "Give Thanks" challenge
The Crazy Challenge - Thanks or Thanksgiving

Black, Lovely Black

One of my fav. colours but oh so difficult to photograph!! I've had this card made for nearly 24 hrs trying to get the light just right - no glare and reflections and not brown. Well I think this piccy is about as good as I'm going to get.
Using a skull stamp from Happy Daze, first stamped in platignum ink onto matt black card stock and embossed with white pearl powder then, masking the first image, in black ink with the same embossing powder, I got the "shadow" effect I wanted. Mounted this onto glossy black card stock. I printed a black swirly design onto acetate and layered onto the lower part of a grainy black paper (unfortunately this doesn't show well in the pic) securing with black brads, all from stash. The black flower is from 2 sources, inner sent from USA and outer, together with the black dew drops from Crafty Feelings. The black velvet and organza ribbons are also from stash.
There we have it. Great fun to make, not so much to get a piccy as I said.
I am entering this into the Tuesday Taggers challenge for this week's BLACK request, and for the recipe challenge #13 over on StampInsanity - black paper, skulls and pearls - well dewdrops are nearly the same.

MMSC63

I'm on time for another challenge over at Priscilla Styles Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge again. Can hardly believe it myself. I've been beavering away doing things except crafty things for too long (work seems to figure in there a bit too muchfor my liking). Anyway - to this card....
I used the current freebie offered by Priscilla over on CDAC - you have until the 29th July to join and nab it by the way. Using a graphics program I resized the image twice and changed the colour on two of the images then used glossy accents on them to get a satiny look to them. The original black just has a light dusting of black glitter and a couple of sequins for a belt. All three images were given a silky skirt then pieced onto hammered white card. Using a Lily of the Valley template I cut out the mounting papers and using one of the few edge punches I have a final layer in black and gold. Colouring a strip of white netting with a permanent marker I achieved the black to add to the lilac organza ribbon from Crafty Feelings. This was then all layered onto a sheet of papermania BP. The pins are homemade with pearls and crackle beads from stash with the diamond one from crafty feelings.

Happy Birthday to Angie

Over on Ellephantastic, it's DT Angie's birthday and as it's her turn to set the challenge, guess what the theme is. Yep - birthdays. Well this is my effort. A bit later in the week than I'd hoped to post.... work has been taking up a lot of my time as well as having a couple of nights when I needed to rest. Such is life.
I have used another of Helen's Roger images. Flipped it for the second bear. So easy to do with digis. As it's a 3-D card, I chose to decoupage them both as you can't have a skinny bear can you?
Coloured with promarkers. The table and chairs are adapted from a Cuddly Buddly image and the two birds pulling the banner are a freebie from Shelly's Images over on CDAC . The papers are all digis from various sources. The flowers are from Crafty Feelings.

Gate Fold card

Over on character cafe They want a gatefold card. It was over on the CDAC forum that I got to hear about it. Well I promised Fink who has put a lot of time and effort into trying to get this group off the ground. The DT cards are great but the number of entries into each challenge appears to be diminishing... so get on over there and lend the girls some support.
My card image is one of the freebies of theirs of a cute cat. Coloured with promarkers, and inked the edges. Matted onto tan then the same chocolate brown of the base card. The beautiful turquoise is given the same treatment for the panels, inside and out. The ribbon, pins and clear gems are all from Crafty Feelings.
I am also entering this into Peartree Designs challenge for their animals challenge.

The Beer Monster

Another of those sketchies from Let's get stamping had a few of the girls in a spin... had to have movement. Spinner, waterfall etc. Well just as I'm reading the deets, son comes in and asks if I have a fathers' day card he can give to my OH. Not yet... but it can be made before tomorrow. So armed with a digi from Pollycraft of a beer monster and a barrel from Dustin Pike, the beer glass I can't remember - sorry, I set to work. OH supports Hearts footie team so using the team colours of grey and maroon, I layered up the little toppers on a grey sliding mechanism fastening with silver brads from stash and added 3 little resin stars for a pull. The main image was again layered onto maroon and attached with foam pads for dimension with a little computer generated fathers' day sentiment. The little gems from crafty feelings as a finishing touch. All colouring in done with promarkers. Well there we have it, another fathers' day card from a gal that doesn't do them, lol.
I'm entering this into One Stop Craft Challenge this week - One for the boys and the Polka Doodles and CAS-tastic challenges challenges for Father's day.

TIO Dragon's back

Acetate and Alcohol - that's the challenge this week over on Dragon's Dream, Tag It On. Our poor Dragon is at the moment sporting some impressive bruises c/o her recent knee op. So to welcome her back I thought a little celebratory tag would be in order - bottle of champagne, flowers and a slice of cake. Well I can't be there in person to give them so stuck them on a tag so she can at least see them.
On a piece of purple card I heat embossed a dragon (Tanda Stamps) in gold to represent Frankie herself. I roughed up a piece of thickish acetate and, after spraying with mica and painting some bubbles on, I stuck some appropriate bits taken from the papermania mens' celebration decoupage set I had given to me, and a couple of flowers and raffia to keep it all together from Crafty Feelings. I chose bruise colours to match the knee pics.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Frankie......

Pear Tree Designs and Flowers

There I was, happily putting together a card for Pear Tree Design's current weeks challenge when I realised it wasn't just flowers they required but a sketchy as well to go with it. OOPS. Luckily, nothing was actually stuck down. A few of the elements will do for another card, waste not want not, eh? Anyway, after a bit of moving about, changing this and that, THIS card was made.
I used a freebie image from Tellen's Place, paper from papermania and some from a mag freebie from aaaaagggeeesss ago, a couple of the flowers from Crafty Feelings, and other bits from stash. Bit of a rush job to get it done before work, but it's done.

Don't mess with the Faerie

Alison over on Friends Having Fun has asked all the friends to make a card using the colours Hot Pink, Lime Green and Plum. These colours are great to work with and as I was asked to make a 21st birthday card by someone ...... might as well combine the two.
Using an image from that wonderful fantasy artist Selena Fenech, blooms from Crafty Feelings May kit, some digi papers and other bits from stash, this card was born. It's coloured using promarkers, with my new favorite - two toned voile - pieced onto a second set of wings and pieced on then to the faerie to give a bit of extra dimension. this was then layered onto plum coloured card, but with the light as it is on this dreary day, it doesn't show up very well. The sentiment is computer generated by me.
Also entering this into Bee Crafty's challenge for their "Blooming Marvellous" challenge and Tuesday Taggers for their "All That Blooms" challenge.
