I've Made Friday Week 59

Good Morning Everyone.
I hope you are all having a good week
and are looking forward to the weekend.

The weather isn't very nice at the moment
so it's a time to curl up inside and crochet.

I've managed to do my back in.
I don't know how but my lower back is very sore.
I'm sure it will be fine soon.

I've managed to finish one project
and am making good progress on the others.

 Isn't he just so cute!
I purchased this pattern from Mel's Daisy Patch.
This Little Piggy Wants To Be A Razorback

We have done some baking.
Little Red is really fussy
and we are trying to find ways to get
extra fruit and veg in him.
So I first try was Courgette (zucchini) muffins.
They are a huge success!!
They taste fantastic and he doesn't know they
are full of veg.

We've also made some automata
The first was for my mother-in-laws birthday
and I forgot to take a picture of it.
Here is what we made.
It's from the book:

Paper Automata

We also made:
A barking dog and pecking chicken.
They are from:

Amazing Paper Pets
This book is fantastic.
The parts are already but you just need to pop them out.
They are quite easy to make and the work really well.

I read (listened to):
Lady Susan by Jane Austen
It actually shocked me quite a bit.
The thinking of the area really opens your eyes
to how naive women were at the time.
It was also shocking how one person can be so horrible
and have such an affect on so many people.
The book is a collation of letters
between a group of people.
They all write about the selfish behavior of Lady Susan
as she engages in affairs and searches for
suitable husbands for herself and her young daughter.
I wouldn't say I really enjoyed the book
but it was an interesting read.
I give the book 3 out 5.

Now it's your turn
It doesn't have to be crocheting
anything you've made is more than welcome!

I've Made Friday Week 58

Good Morning Everyone.
I hope you are all having a good week
and are looking forward to the weekend.

You'll be glad to hear I have a few finishes this week :-).
Well I have to make up for last week.

I've finished the scarf.
Isn't it beautiful!
I think it would look excellent in a nice bright green or pink
as a spring/summer scarf.
It's such a beautiful accessory!
I would highly recommend the pattern
& in buying the pattern you are making a donation to charity.
What could be better!
I decided to keep my edges plain as I think it looks really sophisticated.

If you want to buy the pattern
the link is below:
It's available at Ravelry
& Until 31st March 2014,
£3 ($4.66) from the sale of each pattern will be donated to
the Wales Air Ambulance.
& the pattern only costs £3.25 ($5.05)

I've made this ever so cute little pig:
I received the pattern:

Piggy Sue Seated Pig

by Wee Sandy

I really enjoyed this pattern.
It was quick and easy with clear instructions.
I loved the way the pattern started off just the way I do.
I love the way the pattern is made without having to add things on except for the legs.
Everything is made on the round and once you start at the snout
you just carry on.
He is small and super cute!
At $2.50 this is a small price for such a cute pattern.
He is sat on my mantel brightening up my living room :-).

I finished my dragon hat.
I am going through and checking some of my patterns because I made some mistakes
and I want to make sure that I have amended them all.

I also finished my Hedgehog for Little Red:
Little Red loves him and has taken him everywhere with him
I think I'm getting better at sewing.
Tina's patterns have given me so much confidence.
You can buy the pattern (tutorial & instructions)
from the:

The patterns gave me so much confidence I decided to design my own.
Little Red wanted a Badger to go with his set.
Now I think it needs something more but here is my first try:
For my first try at designing I don't think he is too bad.
I want something else on his tummy but I'm not sure what will look right.
The photo and light doesn't show it up well
but the front is white and the back is grey.

Craftsy has some really exciting news!
They have a number of new courses:

May 8th
Leah Day: Free Motion Fillers, Vol. 2 (quilting)

Sharon Wee: Design Your Own Castle Cake (cake decorating)

Cookie Gaynor: Digitizing Your Embroidery (embroidery)

I was lucky enough to received a signed copy
of the World of Stephanie Laurens.
This is a book detailing all the books she has written.
Wow that's a lot of books!!!!
Have you read any of her books?

I read this week:

Altered Souls
by Karice Bolton
Book:

Kindle:

This is the 2nd Book in the Witch Avenue Series
I enjoyed the 1st book so much I purchased the 2nd one straight away.
The story is based around 2 main characters
Triss and Logan.
In book one a number of upsetting and strange things happened
as Triss nears turning 18.
Since then she has learnt a lot about the disappearance of her mother
and what is happening to her friends and family.
The story has many twists and turns and keeps you guessing.
It is a fantastic twist on a witch story.
It's a struggle for Triss as she finds out the person behind everything is her father.
Her father hasn't really been part of her life and now she finds out
he is the person behind her mother's disappearance and everything else
that is going on in her life.
I really enjoyed this book!
If you like a good Witch book with lots of twists and turns then this
book is a really good read.
I give this book 4 out of 5

Next I read:
White Bones: 1 (Katie Maguire) by Graham Masterton
Kindle:                      Book:

WOW THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC!!!!
The book is set on a farm in Ireland.
During some building works a farmer and his workers find the bones
of 11 women.
Not only were they murdered there bodies had been mutilated and a clue left
to the reason this women had been attacked.
It's Detective Katie Maguire's job to find out how, where and when
these women were murdered.
More is to come and the more that comes the more this murder mystery
takes an evil twist.
I could not recommend this book highly enough.
I was gripped from the moment I started reading it!!!
I loved the characters and I loved the way the book kept you guessing.
I would give this book 5 out of 5!

Now it's your turn
It doesn't have to be crocheting
anything you've made is more than welcome!

I've Made Friday Week 57

Good Morning Everyone.
I hope you are all having a good week
and are looking forward to the weekend.

I haven't got any crochet finishes this week.
We have finished our family project
for Little Red to take to school:
The background that turns from night to day.
Little Red painted it all by himself.
The automata.
as it turns the Hedgehog and Badger
come out at night
and when it turns to day they pop back into their holes.
It was nice making things as a family.
It was something that hubby enjoyed making as it was
a "machine"

I've finished a few books this week:

The First is the book
by Brent Riggs
If you haven't heard of Brent Riggs he is a very successful blogger
and has been blogging since the start.
He has gained so much knowledge and shares so much!
The book is a compilation of his best tips, tricks, lessons learned,
and advice about blogging specifically,
and indirectly about doing “business on-line.”

Each item is explained and discussed.
There is sooo much information held in this book.
As a newbie it's brilliant to learn how to create your posts
to how to increase traffic to your blog.

If you are already a blogger then this book will
give you hints and tips of how to keep and increase your followers.

Now Brent does run this as a business so he does plug his other services
but why shouldn't he when he is helping bloggers out.

I did find it a bit repetitive in places but this was to get you
to take note of the most important things.
I've taken loads of notes whilst reading it and am going
to start deciding what I can do to keep this blog
going in the right direction.

I read:
5 Steps to Successfully Start a Crochet Business
This free ebook by Sedruola's Yarn Obsession
Is a fantastic quick read with some really useful
hints and tips to get you started.
It gives you a good place to start
and gets you thinking and deciding what's
best for your crochet business.
Well worth a read if you are just starting out.
It's also useful if you want to make sure
that you are hitting your target potential customers.

I also finished:
Walden by Henry David Thoreau
This is a free book on Books Should be Free
I really enjoyed this book at the start
and enjoyed quite a few parts of the book.
My only issue is that he seems to say a bit too much!
I also had to remember it was written in the 1800's.
Due to this fact it can be sexiest and some of the thoughts are old fashioned.
However there were quite a few things that made me laugh and made me think.
Even after all this time quite a lot of the things said
are still pertinent to today's society.
The book is a story about a man who builds himself a small house
near a pond.
Whilst he is alone he uses his time to think his philological thoughts.
He thinks so deeply about even the smallest thing.
I give this book 3 1/2 out of 5.

I've Made Friday Week 56

Good Morning Everyone.
I hope you are all having a good week
and are looking forward to the weekend.

I wanted to apologise if I haven't replied
to any of your messages.
I'm having a bit of a not coping week.
There are a few stressful things going on
and they've knocked me sideways a bit.
Hopefully if I can get them sorted I can get back on track.
I've lost the use of my left leg a couple of times
and the doctors have said it's due to my CFS
and the stress I'm under.
I'm trying to do fun things to take my mind off it
and hopefully stop my leg from working anymore.

On a brighter note I've managed to finish a couple of things this week.

I was lucky enough to receive a
Granny Square iPad Case Pattern
This was a fantastic pattern to follow.
Clear instructions
with photo's to show you how it should be made and look.
I really enjoyed making this and I hope you like the colours I chose.
I received the pattern from Floom.
Please take a look at their shop as they have other fantastic
handmade & vintage accessories.
I think any iPad would look good in this :-)
I also think you can tailor the colours to match anyone's personality.
If you can make a granny square you can easily follow this pattern.
It's a fantastic quick and easy present for any relative.
I think it would be ideal for both men and women.
The shop is shut at the moment but I'll remind you in a couple
of weeks so you can see all of her things.

were kind enough to send me another one of their patterns!
I just love their designs!
I hope you agree my sewing is getting better.
I am so proud of my pig. I love him!
I just love Tina's patterns!
They are easy enough for beginners to make
and interesting and cute enough for seasoned sewers to make.
If we ever get any sunshine I'm going to take some better
pictures of my pig and lamb.
I am looking at buying a few more of her patterns.
Here is the link to the pattern for the stuffed pig

I'm hopefully going to buy:
