Earring Holder

Let’s make a fun DIY earring holder today.

All you need is:

Creative Paperclay

Acrylic paint

Knife

Rolling pin

Stamp or something to make a design

Skewer or needle to make the holes

Take about 1/3 of a package of Creative Paperclay (More if you want to make a larger earring holder) and using your rolling pin flatten out the clay.

Once the clay is flattened as thick as you would like (Don;t make it too thick or your earring won’t stay on it) cut out the shape of the holder.  For mine I just cut off the ugly edges but followed the rolled shape of the clay.  You could try cutting it rounded or leaf shaped.  Get creative!  Make sure to cut out a squarish base that is atleast 3” wide, the size will depend on how tall your top section is since this is what the holder will stand up on.

Now imprint the pattern.  You could use a stamp, like I did, a piece of lace, or maybe freehand draw a design onto it.

Next use a skewer, needle or even a pencil to create holes for the earrings.  You can group them in pairs or scatter them about like I did.

Using a box place the holder on the box with the bottom hanging over the edge to get the bend in the holder.

Keep an eye on it and once its about halfway hardened, but still pliable at the bend, remove it from the box and bend it a little deeper so that the top leans back away from you a little more.  Let it dry the rest of the way by sitting it on its base.  You may need to prop something against the from at first to keep it from slouching.

Let it finish drying.  It should take a day or two depending on your home.

Now grab your paint and paint it!  For mine I did an ombre look.  Start with your preferred color.  Then add a little white to lighten it slightly and paint a section.  Then add more white and paint another section.  Repeat until you reach the top.

Once the paint is dry it is time to add the earrings!

I would love to see what designs you come up with!  Comment your photos below.

Cheers until next time!

Easily Recreate a Sage Burning Bowl

Good Morning!

I love this small bowl that I purchased to burn sage. When I went to buy another one for a gift, they no longer sold them. I was so sad!

Instead of trying to search everywhere for one that I loved as much, I decided to recreate a handmade one using Creative Paperclay®.

Today I am going to show you how I made this. I will also show you how I changed it up a bit and gave it my own personal touch.

One of a kind handmade gift....score!

Supplies
Creative Paperclay®
Clay roller
Pasta machine for clay(optional)
Clay knife
Paint brushes
Water
Spray vegetable oil
Paper towels
E 6000 glue
Mod podge® ultra gloss
DecoArt® Metallic Lustre
      Black shimmer
      Iced espresso
      Majestic purple
      Elegant Emerald
Dazzling Metallics
     Worn penny
Multi surface acrylic paint
      Black
      White
      Teal
      Purple
      Gold

Lets make this!

Helpful hint...You can lay your clay on the inside of the bowl or the outside, depending on the size you want.

The Bowl
1. Lightly spray oil on the side of your bowl you are going to mold, including the edges. Wipe off any excess.

2. Roll out a piece of clay very thin, enough to cover your piece.

3. Smooth the clay out with your wet hands and/or a brush.

4. Trim the edges with a clay knife. Smooth the edges with a damp brush.

5. Let Dry

6. When dry, remove the piece.

7. Clean up the edges.

Faux Raku
1.. Turn bowl upside down and apply small amounts of various colors of the Metallic Lustre® on the bowl.

9. First with your fingers, and then a wet paintbrush, spread the color around the bowl.

 2. When dry, I painted the inside with Metallics®worn penny paint.

3. Seal all over with the  Mod Podge ultra gloss.

The Dragonfly

1. Roll out a small piece of clay large enough for your stamp.

2. Push the stamp into the clay to make an impression.

 3. Trim around the dragonfly. Smooth the edges with a wet paintbrush.

4. When dry paint the dragon fly.

5. Attach the dragonfly to the edge of the bowl with E6000 glue.

I hope this tutorial helped inspire you today.

Happy Creating,
Shari

Let's create a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Banner

Hi!,
I love that fall has finally come to North Texas. Chilly mornings, an extra large cup of coffee, and crafting on my patio. Pure Heaven!!

My inspiration for today's project comes from a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead) festival in my town of Denton Texas.

When the first of October comes to north Texas you start to see tons of sugar skull decorations. Getting ready for the celebration this year, I decided to create a sugar skull banner incorporating Creative Paperclay® for my potion shelf.

 Supply list
Creative Paperclay Delight
Sugar skull  cookie cutter
Heavy cardboard banner
9" of 36" wide fabric
Black felt
Colored hemp cord
Decoupage for fabric glue
Flowers with skulls
Corn starch
Acrylic paint (white, black, neon blue, neon pink, light purple)
Tacky glue
Scissors
Fabric pencil
Ruler

Lets get started

The skulls
  1.  Roll out your delight clay 1/4 inch. (Delight is much lighter than original paperclay and perfect for this type of banner)
  2. Dust the edge of your cookie cutter with corn starch
  3. Press cutter into clay. Lift out and lay flat piece on the table
  4. ( If you have a cookie cutter with details like mine, turn over the cutter and press the face imprint into clay)
  5. Make two more faces
  6. Set aside and let dry

    7. Paint the front and back of the skulls white and let dry
    8. Finish the features using your acrylic paints and set aside

The banner flags
  1. Use one of the banner flags as a template
  2. Lay fabric(wrong side up) on a table
  3. Using a ruler and a fabric pencil trace 1/4" edge extra around your template
  4. Glue the fabric on the cardboard.
  5. Snip of the corners
  6. Put glue on the fabric edges and fold them over
  7. Using the template cut a piece of black felt and glue it on the back

     8. Take 3 strands of colored hemp and braid them together

   9. Thread the cord through the banner pieces. (leaving room for the skulls)
10.Glue the skulls on the cords using tacky glue
11.Glue the flowers to the banner using tacky glue

Thanks for stopping by. I hope that you can be inspired to create a banner of your own.

Happy Creating,
Shari

Lynda's Magnets - Made From Stamps!

For those of you who love to stamp - and happen to have stamps available to you, I have the perfect fun project for you to recreate, using basic stamping supplies and Creative Paperclay and Delight products!

**Tips**
I have had a tip I always share - this time is PERFECT example as to why!!!  If you have molds you like to use - grab some product, and make up a bunch of items ahead of time!  That way, when you are working on a project - you don't have to wait for things to dry!

And - using the Delight product on your smaller items (such as the flowers and buttons) - helps so they do dry quickly if you are working on something at the moment!

Supply list -
Various stamps
Rolled out product (for the bases)
Paint
Bakers twine and ribbon
3D flowers
Molded flowers and buttons

Directions:
Step one:  Flatten out the Creative Paperclay product so you can cut out what you need and stamp the images on the product.  If you need directions for stamping on the product, check out the video I have made here!

Step two: After the images have dried fully, you will need to sand each of the pieces you are working on - to make each piece smooth.
Step three:  After you have sanded down each of the pieces, start to paint each of them!  I started with a white background on the squares.

Step four:  For the square magnets - start to paint the blue for the clouds using a template!  Let it dry, then using green paint, paint the grass as well!  Set aside to let dry!

Step five:  Paint the flower pot - after dried, make sure to add the bakers twine and a small bow.

Step six:  After everything has dried - start to put together the flowers for the flower pot - adding flowers or buttons to the middle of the flowers!  Set aside and let dry!

Step seven:  Paint the basket, and allow to dry.
Step eight:  After baskets are dried - add the flowers to them, with a bow on the handle.

Step nine:  Make sure to add the magnet pieces to the backs of each of the items created!

I had a LOT of fun creating these magnets - and they have inspired me to create even more!  I can't wait to get them done -and next up - a fun project made out of Creative Paperclay - flattened out product - an insert from Project Life and creativity!  I can't wait to share with you what I am working on NOW!!!  Thanks for stopping by,
