Our living room was the first room to come together. I love the fireplace! Our IKEA bookshelves and leather chairs look pretty good in the space. This might be my favorite room in the house at the moment. The view out the window is pretty amazing.
It's like living in a tree house! It feels like we have our very own park in the back yard, too. I'm loving all the GREEN! It's quite different from just a few weeks ago. Spring has finally sprung! It took a long time this year, so we are enjoying every minute of it. The kids are loving their new big back yard! Consequently, so am I. :)
Our bedroom is set up, but it still needs artwork. And paint! On the foot board, my apple cake quilt. One of my very, very favorites! It's nice to have this one out and in use again. I love rotating quilts throughout the house.
We've actually hung things on some of the walls already. That must be a new record! On the left, ticker tape on canvas, 24" x 36" (tutorial here). I LOVE that piece! On the right, my snippets wall quilt. It's nice to have some color on the walls!
The sewing area is a complete disaster, so no photos on that front yet. I don't want that mess documented! I may need to seek outside help. It's completely overwhelming.
I have NOT had much time to sew and boy do I miss it! I managed to indulge in a little bit of scrap therapy yesterday. Somehow sewing little bits of color together has a way of soothing the frazzled nerves. I'm not sure why, but I'll take it!

Your house looks very inviting. Lucky family to have a great view and backyard.
You're doing great settling in. It is a process. I find it takes me a full year to get things the way I want them. And stealing time to sew is sometimes the way it has to be done. Lovely home and yard too!
Congrats on your new home, looking good! Yay for IKEA, too!
yeah for progress on the home front! It's looking beautiful, Amanda! I LOVE the quilts on the walls!!
What a great backyard! And I think I have to copy that ticker tape on canvas!
I wish I could hop on a plane and help you get that sewing room sorted! And visit, of course.
Your ticker tape quilt was an awakening for me. Due to your creative influence over 85 such quilts have been made by elementary children in Color Theory classes in the last 2 yrs. So liberating!
I thank you, again, for sharing your talents. And I love that they have a place of honor in your home.
What a wonderful back yard, and your own artwork on the walls. Who needs paint?
It's looking very lovely already! This will be me in about a month's time... moving and just hoping to get to the settling in part super quickly :)
I finished my quilt as you go quilt and I love it! I put photos on flickr but haven't blogged about it yet. Thanks for making me machine quilt :)
I love how you organized your books in the family room by color! It looks great.
You'll get there... Although I really wanted to see K do those cartwheels.... :) Thanks for having us over the other night. We had a lovely time. :)
your new home is lovely! I'm right there with you- sewing is such a calming thing for me. Good luck with getting the rest of everything in order and back to doing more of what you love!

So glad you're settling in well and you have such a great attitude! When I move the first thing I always do is hang stuff on the walls, it always makes a place feel more homely! More so that they are such beautiful pieces you made :) Enjoy your scrap therapy! x
I agree, sewing bits of color together somehow brings life back to perspective...off to take a dose of this medicine! Thanks for the Rx Dr.Amanda!
Ooo I love your bed! That footboard is genius for showcasing a pretty quilt! Do you remember where you got it?
A year and a half i've been here, and most of my sewing room is still in boxes . . . I DEFINITELY need outside help.
So glad to hear that you are settling in. Little by little you'll get there!
And I always loved summer holidays when the kids were home. It meant no schedule, lazy days and lots of spur of the moment activities.
Are you kidding me? That is your backyard? WOW, lucky kids (and mom and dad)!! The house looks great so far....
It is looking really good. It is looking like a home. Enjoy settling in.
What a fabulous backyard!! I can imagine a lot of family picnics and backyard cricket games (make that American football?) outside amongst the green!
I needed an AJ fix so I popped over to say hi and was pleasantly surprised with a new post! Settling is good. Scrap therapy is priceless. Happy transitioning and nesting.
It looks great, Amanda! Just enjoy what you do have set up, the rest of it will happen in time...or not. :)
It all looks so lovely. The quilt on your bed and especially the pillows in the background.
Your apple cake quilt looks yummy at the end of the bed. Welcome to Minnesota.... hope you are all cozied in soon. Moving is a big job. Enjoy your new home! janita
I hope you settle in well. You seem to have made some good headway already. Sewing always soothes the soul!
Your place is looking great. The view is amazing! We moved less than 2 years ago, downsizing to a smaller house and property since we are empty nesters. It does take a lot of time to settle in, especially a busy family with kids.... wishing you a wonderful first summer in the new home!
what a wonderful view, I think I would find that most distracting!! house coming along well, a pretty amazing fireplace and I am sure you will have the sewing room sorted soon and you will be back stitching again
Congratulations on your new home, Amanda Jean. Your family will be filling it up with new memories in no time. I hope you will be very happy there!

Everything looks fabulous! That back yard is a kid's dream come true!
wow-what a lovely property. I recently started following your blog and love it! And, of course your quilts. I work full time and on Fridays love to sneak a peek at your Finished Projects List. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us.mary
You house is looking great. I think you have made great progress and can't wait to see your sewing space when that comes together too. Hang in there!
I recently made your quilt that Di of Random Thoughts Do or Di made and blogged about. It turned out great. I'm so glad I bought the book.
It looks fantastic so far. It's stressful but fun to move and start all over again. A chance to redo things. And I agree, I don't know what it is, but if I can just run the sewing machine for a few minutes it makes me feel better. Cutting and ironing doesn't count. But sometimes going through my fabric stash to get ideas does the trick too. =)
I miss you at the RF local quilt shop, but at least I can enjoy pictures of your lovely home and yard. Wow....I love your decorating with quilts and am dazzled by your apple cake quilt. I might have to try that one.
Have an endless summer with your children! Thanks for your friendly lessons on quilting! You are the best.
Congratulations on your new home! I love the quilts that you have on display. What a great environment for creativity!
What a great use for your quilts. Love your new home. I am seeing lots of picnics.
How fab to have your quilts on the walls already - they look great.
Wishing you the best of luck in your new home with huge great big garden.
You're so right, there is nowt so soothing as fabric work.
The house looks wonderful, especially with all your beautiful quilty creations in it! I particularly love the ticker tape canvas art - I hadn't seen that before but now I want to rush off to the store for some Mod Podge!
The fireplace! And that view! What a lovely place you've got.
I really like seeing your little quilts hung on the walls. Like modern art. It's making me rethink what we want to do with a big, bare wall we've got.
your backyard is stunning!!! I still have things to put on my walls after 2 years...sigh.
Love the fireplace and the view! Wish I was closer, I love organizing a sewing room, LOL...
Your quilts already look at home, and I LOVE that fireplace!
