"Oui"cycling Yogurt Jars

I found some Oui yogurt at a local grocer this past summer
after looking for them off and on for several months.
I'd read about them on my blogging friends page  a year ago.
I just had to buy some to repurpose the jar.
I'm finally getting around to sharing a couple of them
now that it is close (too close!) to Christmas.
I've lots of ideas to repurpose more.
Then again, I believe that I still have some
baby food jars yet to be repurposed........

First things first, remove the labels and
clean your jars well.
I fill mine with hot water to help loosen
the adhesive. The labels came off pretty easily
leaving minimal residue behind that was
cleaned up with Goo Gone.

I washed them with Dawn dish detergent and warm water,
giving them a final wipe down with vinegar and a dry cloth
when I was ready to craft with them.

I painted a couple of them with Looking Glass paint by Krylon
and spritzed with a vinegar and water solution
to create a faux mercury glass look.

The paint is quite thin,
you need to lightly spray it in several layers.

Be sure to paint in a well ventilated area and wear plastic gloves.

NOTE: You must paint on the INSIDE of the glass
and the containers are NOT food/water safe.
They can only be used for decoration.

I dug a Christmas floral pick out of my stash
and added faux snow to it.

The same was done with some tiny twigs from my yard.

I had an old doily I picked up at an estate sale
that I poked a tiny hole in the center of .
I felt bad for doing so, but it was stained in places
and wouldn't really be used for much
of anything else since it was small.

I cut an old styrofoam ball in half,
gluing the flat side of each half into each
mini jar after it was painted.

The tiny twigs were hot glued into the pick.
The stem of the pick had to be shortened
to fit in the small jar.

The pick was poked through the small hole
in the center of the doily then the entire thing
was pushed into the foam inside the jar.

TIP:
Change out the floral pick with the seasons
to reuse the faux mercury glass jar base year round !

Thanks for looking
and have fun "Oui"creating this project  =)
